The Old Silk Hat is a 1915 bungalow located a block and a half off the Seawall on a quiet, friendly, neighborly, small one way street. It has off street parking. The home is remodeled to keep its character intact with creative touches of Galveston and its past. The Old Silk Hat prides itself for privacy and uniqueness. I am a family oriented artist who loves Galveston and wants to welcome you more as a guest than a tourist. I try to be a minute away in any way yet value your privacy.
The private back yard is a true sanctuary which will keep a child entertained and an adult relaxed. The garden caters to the Monarch Butterfly with 50 milkweed plants and various flowering species. I also use sunflower seeds in my feeder to bring in the doves. We also have a few bunnies which live in a separate area in the back yard with a little visiting area . It’s all like having a screen saver while you relax by the ocean breeze fan.
We have a great assortment of restaurants and lounges within a few blocks . Guido’s is a block away and is our oldest most respected family owned, seafood restaurant. Seawall traffic can be very heavy and the lighted crosswalk at our intersection is very handy .Our rock groin going out into the ocean is paved which makes it very easy to access. We also have a lifeguard station on the beach at this intersection.
I am semi retired and enjoy being a host . If you come from overseas , with your family or just a romantic getaway I will do what I can to help in any way .
