NOTICE - Kinderhook Lake is let down from Oct 15-April 15th every year, There will not be a water view at my dock during these times. The lake bed may be snow covered, but that depends on the winter.
We invite you to spend a relaxing weekend or week at our cottage on Kinderhook Lake. Our dock provides access for kayaking and canoeing. You can relax on the deck and watch the sun set over the lake. This lake was once the home of "Electric Park", one of the first public amusement parks in the US having electric rides in the early 20th century. You'll be close to many theater and music venues in Albany (30 min.), Chatham (10 min.), and up and coming Hudson (20 min.). Hudson is a lively scene for music, (Club Helsinki), antiquing, restaurants, and a wide variety of shopping. The summer season at Tanglewood is a short scenic drive to the Berkshires, and Saratoga is about an hour north. The Hudson River Art Trail is nearby: Olana, the home Frederick Church built above the Hudson River, (www.olana.org) and Cedar Grove, at the Thomas Cole National Historic Site. The classic Crandall Theater and PS 21 (outdoor theater) are in Chatham. There is strawberry picking in June, and several apple orchards offer pick your own and award-winning cider doughnuts. The Old Chatham Sheepherding Company, located in the lovely horse country of Old Chatham, sells world-renowned sheep cheese and yogurt. The Columbia Land Conservancy offers hikes around the county.
