About Michael Hudecheck
Former and current high school teachers, we live on the Chesapeake Bay and love all that the outdoors have to offer. We have long traveled to the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon to canoe the Pine, visit Wellsboro and the State Parks on either side of the canyon, camp at Little Pine, stay in Slate Run, hike the trails and ride the many scenic roads. When we found this place we just had to have it. Everything that we like to do can be done right at the door, no need to drive anywhere. We hope you enjoy the cabin as much as we do. We know that you will enjoy all that the area has to offer.

Why Michael Hudecheck chose Wellsboro
A Beautiful Cabin on Pine Creek rests on the most spectacular location anywhere on the Pine. The view from the Great Room windows is South, right down Pine into the mouth of the Grand Canyon. Cool water from the Pine, warm from the Marsh, the best fishing in the area, right along our more than 400' of private waterfront. Launch your canoe from the front yard. Walk, bike or cross-country ski, to the Rail Trail entrance just across the street. Saddle up or join in a covered wagon ride at the Rail Trail entrance. Hike, bike, ski, ride into the many roads and trails of Tioga State Forest and Colton Point State Park, snowmobile the PA Wilds Snowmobile Trails, ride your ATV right onto the designated ATV road just across the street. You can even walk to the Burning Barrel Bar. There is so much to do right outside the cabin you can, literally, leave your keys on the counter and walk everywhere during your stay. Many fine restaurants, downhill skiing, museums and more are just a short drive away. You'll want to spend at least one day exploring Wellsboro. It's the nicest small town we have ever seen.
What makes this Cabin unique
Location, location, location. You know the old adage. Once you see the place, the cabin and the setting, you will know why we bought it. Stay three days and you'll just want more. Stay a week and you'll be back every year. Stay any longer and you'll be asking to buy the place. This is a beautiful cabin with the finest location of any cabin in the entire PA Wilds/Pennsylvania Grand Canyon Area. Go ahead, check out the other cabins in the area. I challenge you to show me one cabin that offers a better value for your vacation stay.

Cozy cabin for a family weekend
My family and I were in town for a reunion and we had such a lovely time staying at the cabin. We loved the house journal and the big dining room table was perfect for board games!
Pros - Upon arrival the cabin was very clean and the owner gave us a complimentary bottle of wine. The cabin is spacious. The couches and beds are comfortable. We could bike to the start of the Pine Creek Rail Trail from the cabin and that was convenient. It was also located very close to many hiking trails and the parks and we enjoyed that convenience as well. Within walking/biking distance is Pine Creek Outfitters and they can assist with any biking, hiking, kayaking, canoeing needs you may have. There is also a bar within walking distance that had a nice atmosphere and good beer selection. The area is very quiet and peaceful. We had ducks, swans, and bald eagles in the area around the cabin.
Cons: Yes there is a view of the water from your living room sofa if the hedges by the window are trimmed. Ours were not and you could not see the water or the trail at all unless you stood right by the window. That was disappointing. Yes there is a canoe you can use, if it is stored properly which it was not. Instead it was filled with disgusting looking water, sludge, and mosquito eggs. That was also a disappointment as we were hoping to be able to take it out as they suggested. There is a screened in deck which we were hoping to be able to use, but there are holes in the screens and the mosquitoes made it unbearable. The bathroom door wouldn't stay closed, but a door stop was provided so privacy wasn't an issue.
The MAJOR disappointment was that there was no air conditioning, even though it is advertised as having it. We were there to hike, bike, and kayak, and returning to a warm, uncomfortable cabin was not what we anticipated. We attempted to contact the owner numerous times but he stated that he never received our messages due to poor cell phone service. We actually had to find a Walmart so we could purchase a fan in order to sleep. When we finally did get in contact with the owner his response was that WE should have tracked HIM down and that they don't put the AC units in normally (even though there are instructions about the AC in the Welcome Book they provide?). I don't feel that we should have had to change our vacation plans to go find him in order to get what should have been provided from the start - air conditioning. They advertise having a coffee pot and a toaster and those items were there when we arrived - why is it that the air conditioning is apparently only available upon request? I thought this was ridiculous
Relaxation at its Best!!
Home was very cozy and relaxing. Just cant beat waking up to see the water. Had a minor issue while there and it was handled right away. Would stay at this cabin again. Still Waiting for my security deposit to be returned.
Review of the Beautiful Cabin
Our trip to the Beautiful Cabin on Pine Creek was phenomenal. The owners were very attentive and responsive to my questions before, during, and after the trip. They were also extremely helpful with regards to planning for my dog to join us on this excursion, which was a huge deciding factor for me in choosing this cabin- she is like a member of our family, and I wanted her to be able to come with us to enjoy the vacation. To help with my questions, a manual was provided in advance for us to learn all the "ins and outs" of the cabin and property, making us feel at ease about the trip - we knew what to expect before our arrival.
As nice as the cabin looked in the pictures provided on the site, they truly did no justice to the beauty of this location. The cabin is reminiscent of something from a Better Homes and Gardens magazine- the decor and overall atmosphere of the place is so inviting. The cabin was spotless and clean. Large windows allow for gorgeous views of the creeks, wildlife, and the Rail Trail. A large fireplace in the main room was one of our favorite parts of the cabin. The location also offered an inside porch, a back deck, a grill, and a huge kitchen (complete with everything we could have possibly needed to prepare our meals). There were three bedrooms, offering plenty of space for all of us to have our own room in which to stay. The bathroom was clean and offered a door to separate the shower area. The furniture was very comfortable and made for relaxing evenings by the fireplace, as well as good nights of sleep.
I truly have nothing negative to say about this property or my experience with the owners of this place- our experience from beginning to end was lovely (the owners were even so kind to leave us wine and candy as a welcoming gift). We were so grateful for the opportunity to stay in such a wonderful place, and to be in a location where we were able to enjoy so much of what the Wellsboro area has to offer. We are already planning a return trip to this very same cabin in the future.
