This was exactly what we needed, where we needed it, and when we needed it. Joyce was just a perfect; easy to work with and very accommodating. We will be back, thanks Joyce!
Happy you enjoyed your stay. Hope to see you again soon.
Cozy home for our family and Grandma and Grandpa too!
Perfect place to call home for the weekend. Cozy and comfortable. We are looking forward to returning in warmer weather. Thanks for everything!
Thank You Mrs. Cutright. Happy you enjoyed the house after your event at the Greenbrier Resort. Come back soon...Make your reservations early. The house books fast in the summer. Merry Christmas!
The outside was junky
The countertops had dried sugar caked on it, the stove and oven was dirty.
Furniture was very uncomfortable. Shower doors was difficult opening and closing. The hot water heater was not on, we found the hot water heater in a closet that was so cluttered with window screens it took some maneuvering to remove in order to get to the water heater to turn it on.
The home had a musty oder to it when we entered it.. Never met the owner, Joyce Surbaugh. Spoke with her on the phone, she seemed to be a very pleasant woman. We were told where the key was to let ourself in. We checked in Oct. 31st around 5 p.m. and checked out nov 2nd at 10 a.m. We had payed for 10/31st to 11/4 th.Was very disappointed.
To: Barbara Ayers,
The outside of my property is not junky. The neighboring property is. The neighbors have flea markets and I will ask them if they can clean up the place. The cleaning person must have missed some sugar on the counter. The stove burner trays need replaced and the oven had a spill in the bottom but otherwise it was clean. I do not have a shower curtain I have an enclosure on a sliding track. The doors do not come off. One door is stationary in the back and one in the front slides back. You must have taken them off the tracks. You should have called, emailed or texted me about the hot water heater. The cleaning person forgot to hit the breaker. I prefer Guests do not operate the breaker box or go into the maintenance closet. I am sorry the hot water was not on. I did contact you to see how things were. I do not particularly meet and greet all guests. I find it is best to have guests check in on their own without a face to face chat with the owner. It is more private that way and enjoyable for all. The carpets did need cleaned. I had a wedding party stay and have since had the whole home shampooed. The rental stays busy because it is a reasonable rate and although it is an older home I try to keep it comfortable. The house makes it nice for people in these days and times an affordable rental. The couches are sofa beds built sturdy not plush. Beds are queen and very comfy. Most hotels and rentals are much higher rates. I have purchased hardwood floating flooring and hope to have it installed this winter. I did contact you several times while you were at the house. I do not come to the house and visit or greet. Generally I find guests prefer this. I do pick up trash or come if there is a problem. I will leave new instructions at the home for anyone needing maintenance or for any issues to call me. I did receive a message from you that you had to leave because of a sick family member. I was concerned. Being that your stay here was to visit family just 4 miles from my rental I offered you comp nights on a return stay to the area. You did not relate anything that you wrote in the review only that you had to leave unexpectedly because of an illness in the family. If you had been forward with me at the time of your stay when I inquired how everything was we could have resolved your issues. All of my other reviews in 3 years have been good ones. Thank You, Joyce Surbaugh
Relaxing and practical home away.
Thanks for having everything we needed. It was perfect for our family of 8 for bed and breakfast as we were gone both days. Thank-you again! The Stoltzfus family
Hello Stoltzfus Family.

Also starting this week I will be offering appreciation baskets for veterans and Enlisted Military.

Loved staying here.
Joyce was very good about checking to make sure everything was good and if we needed anything. The house was very well equipped and clean.
So happy to hear you liked the house. I will hopefully be adding laminate wood flooring this year and as always offering veterans discounts and other incentives. Was nice to have you here in Summers County WV. I am open for Christmas and New Years so far if you would like to have a holliday get away. I will be putting up a Christmas Tree. The ski resorts are up and running in Raleigh County and Pocahontas County. If you dont ski sledding and tubing are great fun all winter long. The roads are all state maintained and remaim open nearly all year round. Nearby Pipestem Resort offers an indoor pool. Theatre and arts events are always a fun time here. Or just come and kick back at the house and get away from it all. Wonderful to Have You. Joyce Surbaugh
