About the property

Sleeps 10-11. 3 Queens, 1 Full, 3 Twins, Plus a nursery. 2 full baths.

Relax and enjoy the charm of our 1905 Victorian home, a completely furnished and ready for your “home away” with the flavor of earlier days. It is perfect for family gatherings, (reunions, weddings, anniversaries, holidays) small retreats as well as individuals or smaller groups. It is family friendly, providing a backyard with a sandbox and toys. Its location is just five blocks from Paonia’s main street, and a block from the town park where many festivities such as Cherry Days (July 4), Mountain Harvest Festival (Sept.), Pickin’ in the Park (Aug.), BMW Motorcycle Rally (Aug.), just to name a few, plus a playground of a child’s dreams. If you want to just relax, there is a large front porch to sit back, sip iced tea, and take in the view of Mount Lamborn as you enjoy the company of others and the people passing by. There is a patio in the backyard with wicker furniture for you comfort.

Some of the features in the house are four bedrooms upstairs plus a nursery. Three of those rooms have queen beds, and one of those rooms has a twin bed, also. The fourth bedroom upstairs has a twin bed. In the basement, you will find the “Cowboy Room”, decorated in western motif, which can sleep two in a double bed. There is also another small room that has a twin bed. The house can sleep 10-11, not including the nursery. There is one bathroom upstairs with a double vanity and original claw foot tub with a shower. Another bathroom in the basement has a shower with a double sink just outside the door. Also in the basement is a laundry and work area.

On those hot summer days, you will find our three level house to be very cool. It does have an evaporative cooler if it is needed. You will find many vintage pieces of furniture plus the original woodwork in the living room, parlor and dining room. The large dining room has bay windows and connects to the living room through double pocket doors. The parlor displays an antique fireplace. There is an operable coal or wood burning fireplace insert in the dining/large kitchen area for those cold evenings and mornings.

Shirley’s VicTORy INN looks forward to making your visit to Paonia as comfortable and pleasurable as possible!

About Shirley Yeamans

We moved to Paonia from New Mexico to raise our family. It didn't matter where we lived, as my husband worked as a merchant seaman. We made this our home for nine years until moving to the country outside of Paonia. We rented the house for 24 years until fulfilling a dream of using our home as a guest house so many people could enjoy it.

Shirley Yeamans purchased this house in 1978

Why Shirley Yeamans chose Paonia

We discovered Paonia in our search for a home that would be between our New Mexico family and our Colorado family. Upon coming down the valley from McClure Pass that May of 1978 and seeing all the fruit trees in bloom with the snowcapped peaks of the West Elk Mountains in the backdrop, we thought we had found heaven; it was so beautiful! It seemed the perfect place to settle. I loved the agricultural and ranching life style since that was how I was raised. After arriving with one daughter, we settled into this beautiful old house and in the following years were blessed with three more daughters. Many wonderful memories were created during our years of living in this house. We made many improvements to the house to make it more comfortable, but were careful to preserve its original 1905 appearance.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you for the opportunity to stay in your wonderful house. My stay was great and I'm looking forward to bringing the family back sometime.

Thank you again! God Bless!!

Beautiful Home

  • 5 of 5

Thanks so much for your hospitality. The house was perfectly situated for our needs, there was plenty of room, it was clean, comfortable, and we even enjoyed the grill. Our family was very happy and will definitely try to book the house again when we return to Paonia!

We couldn't have asked for better accommodations!

Thanks again!

This lovely old house was the perfect place for our extended family to relax and congregate after a day of adventures. The bedrooms were spacious, clean, nicely decorated, and comfortable. We also truly enjoyed and took advantage of the outdoor seating that was available. Thank you, Shirley, for your attention to detail and your hospitality!!!

Loved our stay! Will come back!

  • 5 of 5

House is adorable! I grew up across the street from this house and had never entered the house, so I was excited to stay here. Shirley was SO accommodating and kind! She went out of her way for us! Everything in the house was clean and up to date. We felt the price was so reasonable and when we come back to my home town and have a need for housing, we will stay here again. We were very pleased! Thank you Shirley!

Lovely House

  • 5 of 5

My family makes a yearly trip to Paonia to pick peaches. We found the house to be lovely and Shirley was very welcoming when we arrived. There was plenty of space for everyone (4 adults and 2 teenagers) . We could have had 4 or 5 more people with us and been comfortable. The house is located close to downtown Paonia so we were able to walk to it for coffee or food. I definitely recommend it for anyone going to the Paonia area.
