About Alex Bolton

I am a life long native to the Rochester Region. My fiancé and I currently live in Victor, NY and enjoy the outdoors and all the great things this region has to offer.

Alex Bolton purchased this townhome in 2014

Why Alex Bolton chose Canandaigua

My fiancé and I purchase this home as a vacation home for our friends and family. We spend a lot of time on Canandaigua lake and decided it was time to purchase a place of our own. When we began searching for our second home, we fell in love with Bristol Harbour and all the amenities that come with it. Whether your a golfer, fisherman, boater, shopper, wine conesour, or simply just like to relax, Bristol Harbour is the place to do it! We love coming down to the lake and feeling like we are away from home and we wanted to share the joy of our vacation home with other people with similar interests!

What makes this townhome unique

This property is is jammed packed with entertainment options. It is in a report like community with a 18 hole golf course, private beach on Canandaigua Lake, boat slip options, playground, tennis courts and a excellent restaurant. That is just in the community!

The area is loaded with wineries, breweries, restaurants, shopping, hiking, mountains, parks, marinas, movies, casinos, and many other activities to keep you busy!

My review says it all.

Based on our rental experience (5 seniors) in a number of like situations, and using a 1-10 scoring matrix, we rated the house a “5.” The house was a three-bedroom condo with the master on the second floor. There was an area on the second floor where there was a TV. The third bedroom was above the “master” and necessitated a very steep set of stairs to get there. We temporarily moved a single bed from the third floor bedroom to the TV area of the second floor, because we were afraid one of us would fall down the stairs. Also, the third bedroom lacked adequate ventilation. (A fan would have been helpful.) Because there was not a half-bath on the second floor, those staying on the third floor, or using the single bed, were forced to use the master bedroom full bath, which was an inconvenience to all parties. In reality, the first floor bedroom with an adjoining full bath was actually a more appropriate “master” bedroom.

The kitchen was generally well-stocked, but needed a couple of more cooking pots. The outdoor grill did not work well. It either needs repair or replacement. One of the screens on the patio needs either repairing or replacement. (There were a couple of other minor things that should be repaired or replaced: the handle on the outside front door needs to have the screw tightened so that it does not pull off; the first-floor bathroom door handle needs replacement.) To utilize the WI-Fi, we had to call Alex, the owner. There was a “Condo Book,” and he told us where he thought it was. It contained the coding for the WI-Fi. (We found Alex to be cordial and generally responsive to our needs.) We never were able to figure out how to use the downstairs TV. The patio was comfortable and we enjoyed sitting there.

The most disappointing part of the whole vacation was that, from the condo description, WE THOUGHT WE WERE STAYING ON THE LAKE. The picture showing the beach in the advertisement was very misleading; as it looked as though we were renting a condo that overlooked the lake. We supposedly had a private beach that we could drive to. The directions to that area needed to be more specific. Assuming that we found the right area, there was a several story elevator that went to a dock that, while it had plenty of chairs, or lounges, had absolutely no protection from the sun. Scratch that. Overall, we could have done without vacationing at this residence.

The property was very nice

  • 3 of 5

(1) I wish that I knew ahead of time that there was no grass for the kids to play outside (however, there was a pack in the complex)

(2) The private beach was nice (it would have been nice if details how to access were spelled out in the binder . . . i.e. where to park, the need to take the elevator down, etc.)

(3) Good customer service? - not really, e-mails sent by Homeaway and a voice message I left were not responded to. It was less that a week before our vacation started before we knew the physical address to finalize our plans.

(4) It would have been nice to know the check-in / check-out times before we booked

This was the first time I ever used a website to reserve a location for vacation. I will do more research or ask more questions upfront before I do it again.

(5) What restaurant? Eric's office in Canandaigua was awesome!!!

Scenic, mountainous, beautiful views of the lake!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at Canandaigua lake. The owner was nothing less than accommodating, property was very clean and decorative. We enjoyed seeing deer daily outside of our window, the location to the beach, comfortable living space and exploring the area. We would love to come back. Two thumbs up :)

Thank you for sharing your townhouse with us. We had plenty of room since not all planned for were able to make it. House was well equipped. Would liked to have some "left over" storage dishes in the kitchen

Relaxing and Quiet

  • 4 of 5

Overall our stay was quiet and relaxing. The lake is in walking distance but it is a very steep hill back. Because the weather has been extremely hot we felt that a fan or an extra air conditioner in the loft and in the master bedroom would have helped.

Also the mention of 3 TV's on the amenities list is not correct. The living room one is working, the 1st Floor bedroom is only for games as mentioned by Alex after I called him and the 2nd Floor was missing a remote and could not be used.

We feel that the cleaning crew should check if lights are working and also check the TV's if they are in working order.

Wonderful stay!

  • 4 of 5

We just loved Alex's condo! Our family of five just loved the spacious 3 story home, fully equipped kitchen, grill, etc. Tons of dishes, cups, etc...The kids loved the second floor family / game room and the 3rd floor room...amazing! The resort has great tennis courts, too. Condo was very cozy and warm.... nice back patio, 10 minutes away from town...Alex is a wonderful person to rent from. Honest and friendly, he answered questions immediately! Definitely would come back and rent from him again! Thanks Alex for a memorable week with our boys! Caroline P.
