About Susan Gudgell
We are long time Orcas Islanders -- Wally grew up on Orcas and Susan was drawn here because of summers with her grandparents on nearby Samish Island. The natural beauty was our initial attraction in building a life here, but the wonderful community of eclectic neighbors have kept us here. It has been a great place to raise our family.
Susan Gudgell purchased this Bungalow in 2015
Why Susan Gudgell chose Eastsound
The West Sound Hamlet has always held a special place in our hearts. We have a dock there, and Wally spent part of his childhood years living in the neighborhood. In fact, his family used to have Thanksgiving with the family who owned the Bungalow at the time. We hope someday to relocate there, and were thrilled when this wonderful home became available.
What makes this Bungalow unique
The Bungalow is unique, as it has access to all that West Sound offers -- beautiful views, marina, dock, public beach, sailing -- yet is tucked privately on a large lot surrounded by lush vegetation. The large level yard is promising as a future garden, and the home's floor plan is cozy and easy to navigate, yet has plenty of room for a family or group. What really topped it off for us is the stream and salt-water estuary on the property's boundary, offering a lullaby of sound day and night.

Wonderful place and great location.
The house was fabulous and the grounds were well kept and delightful. The furniture was modern and well kept. We were sad to have left. Would love to have the house as my own. Well located to all you need on Orcas. Want to come again.
Fabulous weekend and the location couldn't be beat for marina views
Very quick responses for questions. Extremely clean and well set up with everything.
Fabulous stay at the Bungalow
This is a wonderful house: very comfortable and spacious with an open architecture and plenty of light. We loved sitting out on the deck enjoying the view. The kitchen is large - we cooked two family dinners there, and also used the grill. It was easy to get into Eastsound and also to tour elsewhere on the island. After four nights there, we were sorry to leave this lovely house and beautiful Orcas Island.
Lovely place to stay! Roomy, nice peaceful view!
Beautiful home for family vacation
My husband, our three boys and my dad visited The Bungalow for a long weekend over spring break. The house and grounds were great for our group. Comfortable beds and well equipped kitchen. The only issues we had were an empty propane tank for the fire pit (which made two little boys excited to eat s’mores really disappointed) and the dishwasher didn’t really work properly. Also, the windows in the loft desperately need some shades. Our guys were up at sunrise every morning! We would definitely come back to this home in the future.
We're so glad you enjoyed the Bungalow! There's always a back-up canister of propane supplied and we're happy to help any time, day or night.
Perfect weekend on Orcas
This was only my husband and I’s second time on Orcas and it had been a bit. For his 35th birthday, he requested a place with a view of the water so that if it was raining, he could watch the storms role in. This place hit the spot for us, our couple friends, and their dog. Fully stocked kitchen(my pet peeve is when the cooking equipment sucks!!). View of the harbor did not disappoint and the weather was so nice that my husband couldn’t be disappointed there wasn’t rain. Owner was easy to work with and directions were extremely clear.
The Bungalow has close access to the beach, trails at Turtleback Mountain Preserve with stunning views of the region, five miles from the charming main town of Eastsound, marina and public dock just steps away, and the charming West Sound Cafe in the summer. Truly centrally located for your island explorations!
