One of the island’s main bike paths adjoins the street side of our complex. Within two blocks of Sea Side Villas is Coligny Plaza, a mecca of restaurants, shops, boutiques, ice cream shops, pizza parlors, a theater, bakery and a major grocery store. A short walk down the beach is the famous “Tike Hut”, one of only two oceanfront bars on the island. The Tike Hut is a “must do” for Island visitors interested in enjoying a cold libation and live music. If you have a more competitive spirit, beach volleyball is played all day long just outside the Hut.

In addition to an uninterrupted 12-mile beach, HHI has 112 miles of paved paths providing a safe opportunity to walk, bike, run or rollerblade. Explore one of the Island's 5 nature preserves and you could spot a bald eagle, great egrets, great blue herons or osprey fishing for dinner.

In early 2011, Hilton Head Island was designated one of the few 'Bicycle Friendly Communities' in the U.S. Additionally, in mid-2011, Hilton Head Island received 'Audubon International's Green Community' designation, indicating the Island has worked with Audubon to develop plans for energy and water conservation, green space and building design, waste reduction, clean-air emission standards and renewable energy.

Recently, HHI came in 2nd place in the '10 Best Beaches Readers Choice Travel Awards' for 2012, beating out destinations like Maui, HI, Sanibel Island, FL, and Coronado Beach, CA. HHI's 12 miles of 'wide, flat beaches' was noted, as well as the fact that 'Hilton Head Island is a great combination of fun and relaxation.'

Perfect location and comfortable condo

The location of this condo is as described, literally steps to the beach (this unit is close to the beach and walkway) and within walking or biking distance to Coligny Circle for shops and restaurants. We spent five nights and didn't feel the need to venture to other parts of the island since all we needed/wanted was right there. The bike paths were also pretty and accessible right from the condo. The condo was efficient and comfortable for the two of us and had a very pretty beach view above the (tasteful and landscaped) parking lot area. Carolyn Cook sent quick responses to my inquiries and was helpful along the way. The only negative I can report is outside of the control of the owners; smoking is allowed on the decks, and as non-smokers sandwiched by two decks with smokers, it was difficult to enjoy spending time on the deck while breathing in their second-hand smoke. Perhaps a new condo rule for no smoking both inside and on the decks will be passed one day. Overall we had a wonderful stay!

Great Efficiency - very close to the ocean!

The owners were great to work with...very easy process. They happened to be down the same week and reached out to see if there was anything the could take care of, much appreciated!

The unit is clean and many aspects have been remodeled. Only suggestion is to update and open up the bunk area for kids (iPod plug ins, special lighting) to make it a cool experience.

Overall we enjoyed our stay, thanks! If you're looking for a place close to the beach and close to Coligny Circle (where the action is) look no further!

Very nice little unit in a great location.

A wonderful location, nicely decorated, nicely appointed, we would recommend it to friends.

As with most oceanfront properties it's impossible to keep rust at bay, so even new fixtures show small amounts of rust. The plates were usable, but a bit dingy. There were plates, pots, glasses, and a dishwasher. The unit was clean and well maintained.

There was a good view of the ocean, although it's ocean view rather than ocean facing. I'll try to upload a couple pictures of the view from the room.

The owners were great and helped when there was there was a problem with VRBO.

We look forward to staying in this unit again.
