About the property

Newly built 2 bedroom, 1 bath Ohana in a peaceful neighborhood.

The "Cozy Kamuela Cottage" is a newly built 2 bedroom, 1 bath home located in beautiful Waimea and is nestled at the top of Hohola Drive in a peaceful neighborhood. Waimea, meaning "red water", is the home of the "Paniolo" (Hawaiian cowboy). There is a rich heritage of ranching and farming that has been passed down for generations. Take in the beautiful scenery of Parker Ranch's rolling green hills (once the largest ranch in the world), while dinning at one of the five star restaurants in the area, such as Merrimans. Visit our weekly farmers markets hosted by our friendly local farmers and craft makers.

Also, adventuring out of Waimea is a must! The big island has so many spectacular attractions, from visiting Hawaii's active volcano, Kilauea, to swimming with manta rays at its beautiful beaches. You will fall in love with this special island! Hope to see you soon!

Aloha!

About Jaiya and Tiffany DeCosta

Aloha! Our names are Jaiya and Tiffany, and we are the owners of this cozy cottage. We are husband and wife, and were born and raised here on the islands. We know all about what this beautiful island has to offer and we'd love to fill you in! We invite you to enjoy our relaxing cottage located in beautiful Waimea, on the island of Hawaii.

Jaiya and Tiffany DeCosta purchased this cottage in 2012

Why Jaiya and Tiffany DeCosta chose Big Island

We have always loved Waimea's small town atmosphere and beautiful lush rolling hills, so when the opportunity came to own a property on Hohola Drive, we were blessed and fortunate enough to purchase the land to build this "Cozy Cottage". Waimea has everything you need minutes away - specially boutiques, farmers markets, five star restaurants, grocery stores, post office, banks, parks and more! There is even a local movie theater in the historic town of Honokaa less than 15min away. You'll enjoy the refreshing country setting up in the mountain with the perks of being only 20mins away from some of the world's most beautiful beaches.

What makes this cottage unique

We both love the shabby chic decor of our cottage. My wife, Tiffany, has a eye for design and has put her touch on every space to make it feel welcoming and homey. :)

Serene and beautiful! Kamuela cottage cozy and nice!

  • 5 of 5

Overlooking Mauna Kea , just sit back and relax with a glass of wine!! Loved it!! We stayed there for my grand niece's birthday party so the location was near the event, 5 minutes away, perfect! Kamuela nice town, people friendly. Near shopping and dining. Kamuela cottage was perfect, beds warm and comfortable, very clean. Kitchen lacked some bigger pans and utensils but overall met my family's needs. My sister was freaked out by the turkey, a big one! But it was something we don't see every day back at home. We would definitely stay here again! Mahalo!

Owner's Response: Mahalo for the awesome review Brandon! Great feedback as well - we really appreciate it! That's too funny about the turkey - they have become the "neighborhood pets". We hope to welcome you all back soon! Warmest Aloha, Tiffany and Jaiya

Quiet, comfortable and private cottage. Included all essentials as well as several perks!

  • 5 of 5

This VRBO is a wonderful experience. The location is nice, private and peaceful. The owners were quick with correspondence, and the listing is described accurately. We loved having a washer and dryer in the cottage. The kitchen was well stocked and the gift basket with fresh papayas, beer and Hawaii chips was a nice treat! We absolutely recommend this VRBO and would certainly love the opportunity to stay there again on future visits to Hawaii. The town of Waimea is charming and it was a great location for seeing sites on both sides of the island!

Quiet & Ideal Setting

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage. It was the perfect size for us (couple) and had all of the amenities we needed for our stay. We cooked a lot and had all necessary cookware, but I would recommend stocking up on items like spices. I believe they had basics like salt, pepper, and olive oil, but not much else. The neighborhood is extremely quiet and dark at night, making it great for sleeping. The cool nights and warm days were wonderful and everything was comfortable!

Wonderful place to stay

  • 5 of 5

The house is very well equipped with lots of extras like bananas and beer! It was spotless. The king bed was very comfortable and the blankets kept us warm though the nights are cold. They had a warm throw in the front room for cool evenings as well. Everything worked well - fridge had cold water, washer and dryer had good capacity and the wifi was fast though we only did email mainly. The house is in a nice neighborhood up on a hill. The drive in is a bit steep as in the drive way.

Wonderful Waimea Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We were fortunate to spend 3 weeks here at The Cozy Kamuela Cottage. Our family loved staying in her in Waimea. We chose this cottage based on:

1) The great reviews-every singe one of them are spot on

2) The views of the lush green hills and Mauna Kea-So beautiful!

We were very impressed by all the little things that were actually necessary things that Tiffany and Jaiya thought of, and the welcome basket of goodies was so thoughtful. The kiddos LOVED the turkeys who visited the yard regularly. We all loved going on outings to the beach, volcano, waterfalls, flumin' up in Hawi, etc then coming back to our cottage for a great nights rest. Mahalo for the wonderful stay!
