Sits in the woods on a lot with 250 feet of South Bar Lake frontage, minutes from the main entrance to the Dunes Lakeshore National Park. Newly paved multi-mile National Park bike trail is 1/4 mile from the house. Best three public Lake Michigan beaches in Northwest Michigan (Empire Beach, Esch Beach, and Glen Haven Beach) are each within five-seven minutes. A more secluded beach in the National Park can be reached by a hiking trail, only 2,500 steps on your Fitbit from the door of the cottage. Launch your own boat or rent boats and jetskis on pristine Big Glen or Little Glen Lakes (10 mins) or launch them directly into Lake Michigan from the Empire (5 mins) or Glen Arbor (10 mins) boat launches. Deep water fish charters available in town; or casual shallow fishing on South Bar for Pike and Bass. Fish, kayak, canoe or paddleboard on warmer South Bar Lake using your equipment or rentals from the Surf & Kayak shop less than a mile away in downtown Empire, where there are groceries, restaurants, a bar, ice cream, and extraordinary nightly sunsets at the Empire public beach. 10 minutes to upscale dining and shops in Glen Arbor. 25 minutes to Traverse City (Cherry Festival, County Fair, shops, restaurants, go-carts). 8 minutes to the Dunes Golf Course; 20-40 minutes to many others, including Arcadia Bluffs. Library, new public tennis courts, kids' playground, and baseball diamonds all within a mile in Empire. 15 minutes from the Homestead Resort with all that Glen Arbor offers (at a fraction of the Homestead price). Park's two best hiking trails are within minutes--Bluff Trail just south of town (five minutes), and Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail just off our private drive leading to a secluded Lake Michigan beach 2,000 steps later. Moon rises over South Bar with great bird watching and spectacular night photography. Empire Museum, with the area's logging history, is two miles, and Glen Haven Coast Guard station and museum (and beach) are five miles away. The National Park's Visitor's Center (at M72 and M22) is only one mile from our private road entrance.

About the owner: Familiar with the very best Leelanau County has to offer. 30 years long time summer residents in Empire after 20 years of childhood Empire vacations.
Why the Owner Chose Empire, MI, USA:
This is why summer vacationers come to the Sleeping Bear Dunes. Empire is the epicenter of all the activities, which can be reached in minutes from this cottage. But this particular cottage is also why a family "goes to the Lake"--water, nature, sun, peace, privacy, family, modern comfort in a relaxed setting. Cost-effective Empire, close to Glen Arbor, Traverse, and all Up North attractions.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The shoreline beckons--private, wooded, pleasant for cook-outs and bonfires and family time. Grills and some toys included. Bring your boat on a trailer and explore local lakes. Play cards and games late into the night with the breeze through the windows, and wake up to birds. No old cottage interior here. New floors, fresh paint, tile, appliances, windows and doors. New rental bikes available in town--we can provide a couple if needed. Croquet and Badminton available in the yard. Shoreline fire pit and furniture available for the evenings, watching the moon rise.
