About the property

3 bedroom, 2 bathroom, lanai with views perfect for family living, Sleeps 6-7

The Jungle Waterfall Retreat is tucked into the rainforest of Kailua. Get the quiet relaxation of living surrounded by mountains while only being a 5 minute drive to the beach. Its just 20 minutes to the airport and Waikiki, but you will feel like you are on another island. Enjoy panoramic views of countless waterfalls when it rains and lush carved mountains on sunny days. The entrance to Manawilli Falls Hike, made famous in the Jason Mraz music video and countless others, is only minutes from the house.

This fully renovated 3 bedroom 2 bath home has everything you need. The full kitchen with updated appliances and granite counter tops opens up to the living room which has a pullout couch for additional guests. The Master Suite has a private bath. All the bedrooms have an AC unit, but you won't need it as the tradewinds blow threw the house. This house is perfect for families or few friends getting away from it all!

Great stay (despite the weather)

  • 5 of 5

I had a great stay at this gem tucked away in the hills in Kailua. The unit was spacious enough for two families of 5 adults, 2 toddlers, and an infant. With Kailua town just a few miles away, we were able to stock up on food and take advantage of all the amenties at our disposal.

The rooms were all equipped with AC, though we used the ceiling fans when the trade winds weren't blowing. We just wished we were able to use the grill if it wasnt raining as much.

The owners were also very nice and came up a few times to check up on us and just talk story.

The beaches on the east side were also beautiful and can get crowded quickly when the sun is out (especially so after all the rain we experienced). Nice neighborhood to get in a walk or jog in the mornings.

Very easy to access the freeways to the north shore, east side, or to head into town.

If you want a nice and quiet place away from the traffic of Waikiki, this is the place to stay...

Lovely place to stay

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time staying at Diane and Charlie's guest house. The location is great and tucked away from the crowds, but still central to everything we wanted to do while on the island.

I loved so many things about this place and the location:

*All the basic kitchen items are there. Everything from plates and bowls to pots and pans to silverware to leftover/storage containers and all the spices and oils and basic cooking ingredients you need. There's even a blender and rice cooker (and a large bag of rice).

*The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of dresser and closet storage so we could unpack and settle in for our stay.

*Bathrooms had all the basics, including a hairdryer, shampoo and body wash.

*The washer and dryer were beyond helpful, and they even provided laundry soap and dryer sheets.

*Free wifi

*Lots of useful beach toys and gear (including sand toys, boogie boards, snorkeling gear and a chair).

*Location, location, location. I loved that this was tucked up in the mountain. The morning call of the birds was something I don't think I'll ever forget.

I wouldn't hesitate in staying there again, but there are a few things to note:

*The property is currently (as of Feb 2018) undergoing construction, therefore you aren't allowed to walk around and explore. That was a bit of a disappointment for us, as we had a few kids there and they wanted to go out and walk and see the flora and fauna. By the end of the visit we were all a little stir-crazy at the house because we were confined to the house or the deck when we weren't out exploring the island.

*The owners house is right below this guest house. Not necessarily a draw back, but their vehicles are parked right outside the master bedroom, and they have one driver that likes to crank their music up. During our 10 day stay we were woken up a couple of times at night or early in the morning from the music. If we were to stay there again I'd just leave the AC running all night to create ambient noise to help with that.

*I asked in advance if there were beach towels available, and was grateful there were so we could save on luggage space. However, while this place sleeps 8, there were only 6 towels. I do wish that there were more, or we had known ahead of time to go ahead and bring more.

*It would be helpful there was some kind of mat on the inside of the front door. We were there during a particularly wet period, and we constantly struggled with tracking water in the house.

Amazing Location and Owners

  • 5 of 5

If you need a quite place to unwind and clear your head this is the place to stay. The setting and surroundings of this home is perfect for those needing a break from "life" and to regroup. The home owners are amazing and always willing to help. We had to extend our stay several times and they made every effort to accommodate our changing needs. They also kept us very informed of when things may be going on around the property (maintenance, etc). Will definitely be staying here again.

Nice cozy guesthouse

  • 5 of 5

The host is very nice. Peaceful & quiet location. Enough parking space for 2 cars - any more and it'll probably be too tight. Nice stray cats often wander around the balcony/driveway area. Views are nice. Very close to Kailua, and not a bad drive to Honolulu unless it's rush hour. Beds are comfortable. Each bedroom has an AC unit and ceiling fan. Lots of closet space in each bedroom. The living room has a couch bed with a ceiling fan. The fully equipped kitchen was nice.

Only one real but small complaint - the shared hallway bathroom has no ventilation.

Definitely would stay here again.
