We're a family of three generations of Italian carpenters and we built our lovely timber and stucco home in the tradition of the architecture of the area. Bibiana is a quiet off the beaten track village located on the outskirts of the historical city Pinerolo (known for the legend of the Man with the Iron Mask), which was a main crossroad through Italy in the middle ages. This part of Piedmont is sprinkled with forgotten villages, rivers, orchards, vineyards and family owned restaurants.
Pass through a cast iron gate with stone pillars through the cool over-decked garden to enter the house. The front door opens into a spacious entry room. A wooden staircase leads you to the sleeping area upstairs and the open kitchen and living area downstairs. The living and cooking area has many windows and a lovely view of a peach plantation and the Alpi Cozie mountain range. The kitchen has a gas cooking range, the tap water is fresh spring water and the wood pellet burning fireplace heats the kitchen and living area. This cozy space has balcony doors which open out to a wood deck. The garden continues around the house on to a spacious garden lawn lined with Oleander trees. Our home is comfortably furnished with antique family furniture. The upstairs level has a low ceiling with exposed beams, a skylight and a small bed for 2. There are 2 extra mattresses which can be placed on the floor for extra guests. The sofa may also be used as a bed for one person. Make yourself at home to the many books in Italian and dvds. Also the kitchen is equipped with dishes, pots and pans and basic spices for cooking and we provide extra linens and towels.
Each Monday morning Bibiana has an open air market that offers local vegetables, fruit and cheeses. Traditional treats are available throughout the week at the local butcher and baker. Nearby towns such as Luserna and Torre Pellice have great shopping, dining and street markets.
The Pellice river runs through Bibiana and within 5 minutes you can walk or hike trails and paths to the mountains. It's a lovely area for biking and fishing. Pinerolo has a beautiful old city and is just 20 minutes driving. In less then an hour you can drive to Torino and see the shroud of Turin that is on display at the Turin Cathedral. The Egyptian museum reopened this year and has the largest collection outside of Cairo and the world exposition will open this year, both of these exhibitions are considered to be highlights of Turin.
Shop in the morning, promenade through the back roads of the village along beeks and rivers, then after siesta visit the cafes for an aperativo (drinks and snacks) or a gelato.
It’s a friendly area and most folks speak Italian. With a few basic phrases you can enjoy the simple and fresh lifestyle of country Italy!
