About Owner/Manager

Born and raised on Virginia's Eastern Shore and have loved every minute of it -well almost! It has its pros and cons like any area but what I do like is that it is very peaceful, you don't have the bumper to bumper traffic like in most areas. I believe that the Eastern Shore of Virginia is a hidden gem that will unfortunately be discovered and heavily developed one day, until that day comes I will continue to enjoy the peacefulness all around and you will also.

Perfect Weekend GetAway

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had a wonderful and relaxing long weekend here in June. It was just what we were looking for, so peaceful! The house was very clean and comfortable and it provided everything we needed. The house is set up perfectly and the water views can't be beat! So easy to Kayak in Curratuck Creek out back. The sunsets are absolutely amazing! We met Matt briefly and he was very helpful :) We took day trips to Chincoteague and Cape Charles. We had very enjoyable meals at The Island House, The Mallard at the Wharf, and The Great Machipongo Clam Shack. Crossroads Coffee Shop in Onley has the best coffee and is just a really cool place to visit :) Oh and don't forget to try a piece of Smith Island Cake! Thank you Matt for allowing us the opportunity to stay in your home! We loved it and will be back!

Gorgeous views!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I came for a long weekend for my birthday and we had a fantastic time. The house is beautiful and well appointed. The view over the bay is stunning. We spent most of our time relaxing on the screened-in porch or out on the dock. We had lunch at the Great Machipongo Clam Shack, which was delicious, and we spent an afternoon in Cape Charles. We can't wait to come back!

Nice Place for Families

  • 5 of 5

This was a really nice place for our family. The kids loved playing with the chess and pool table. The water out back is so beautiful. Loved the way the house is laid out. Everything is so comfortable. I highly recommend this place to families who don't like the traffic and crowds of OC or other resort areas. The Island House Restaurant and The Great Machipongo Clam Shack both have really excellent local seafood and are nearby. We plan to rent this one again.

Relaxing get-a-way

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I truly enjoyed our stay in this home. The owners were very concerned with our needs and was always available if we needed anything. The house had everything you needed as if you were in your own home. Very relaxing and the screen in porch was our favorite place to watch the amazing sunsets!

A few days to get away

  • 4 of 5

Perfect spot for what we wanted and needed. Great views from the entire back of the house. Lots of deck space as well as screened in deck space. In addition the dock is big enough for a few beach chairs to get that "on the water" feel. Kitchen was basic, spacious and good enough to do some cooking. The bedrooms were nice- basic and functional. Bathrooms clean and functional as well. Overall we loved it. We met Matt briefly upon arrival as he was nearby with neighbors. We felt he was available if needed but not hovering. Perfect.

The sunsets are awesome! That alone would get me to return here. Highly recommend overall.

Rest & relaxation

  • 4 of 5

What a great place! I was looking for a place for my family vacation. We're a family of 6 plus one toddler & a dog. This was perfect. One thing to be aware of: this house listing says onancock, but the town is actually painter, which is about 25 minutes away from onancock. Other than that, the description of the house was on point. The homeowner, matt, was very easy to contact & very quick to answer my million questions! The private beach is down the block, about a 5 minute walk. We brought bikes with us since the area was really flat & very secluded from most traffic. Be sure to bring a lot of bug spray & water shoes. My family was a bit hesitant to get into the water behind the house, so bring water shoes! Otherwise, great property. Kayak, crab pots, volleyball net in the water, water trampoline, pool table...always something to do. Be sure to bring activities with you bc if you are "city folks" like us, you might be a bit bored. Everything (supermarket, restaurants, & liquor store) are all about a 20 minute drive away. The people here were so very friendly though. I loved the area so much that I am really contemplating buying a vacation home down there. Enjoy yourself & get some rest & relaxation! Thank you Matt for a wonderful stay!

Be sure your dog has a flea collar or Frontline on...as it seems most dogs down there roam freely & have fleas :(

Owner's Response: Thank you for staying in my beach house and thank you for all the positive feedback! To answer your concern about it being listed in Onancock. Painter wasn't an option to put as the location on the VRBO site thus the closest location that they had to choose from was Onancock. I understand how this can be misleading and perhaps I will call them asap to get this straight so that people are not misled in the future. Again thank you all for staying and we hope that you all consider it again in the future!
