Great location away from the hub bub!

  • 5 of 5

This apartment is as shown. Right next to a nature preserve and right on the bay with great fishing off the dock. Very comfortable and well kept apartment. There was a problem with the fridge, and the owner had it fixed asap. It is a 17 mile ride to town, but there are no stoplights and it is a pleasant drive.

Great condo.

  • 4 of 5

The condo was clean but the location was quite far from the restaurants and stores. We had to drive 19 miles into town one way. A little too far for us.

Pleasant, Family Vacation

  • 4 of 5

Let me start with the negatives, of which there aren't many. The two guest bedrooms (not the master) have windows that overlook the interior corridor of the building, so if a sunny view is important to your guests, this is not the condo for you. The master bedroom has plenty of windows, but one would not close properly, so during a storm one night, we had a constant whistling as the wind got strong. Finally, the living room balcony is small and overcrowded with furniture and grill, but we still enjoyed it. Now for the pros, which there are many. The location is quiet and peaceful, away from typical beach crowds. You can see both the bay and the ocean from the balcony. The beds were comfortable, especially the master, and the daybed in the master bedroom was a great help for us, as we have a young, disabled child who needs to be near us but in his own bed. The kayak and beach toys were much appreciated, and overall, the condo was comfortably furnished and roomy. The teens loved the Wii games and having their own room. The grounds are nice and safe, with a coded entry gate, so we were comfortable letting the teens walk around at night. The temps were a little cold for the unheated outdoor pool, but the kids tried it anyway, and we all used the hot tub. Having covered parking was great and the elevator made it easy to bring luggage, groceries, and wheelchair to the condo. The owner was very nice and answered my many questions. We had a small issue with the overhead kitchen lights going out, and the owner had a repairman fix it within just a few hours. We cooked many meals and grilled, never had a shortage of dishes or cookware. We ventured out to Ft Morgan, rode the ferry to the estuarium on Dauphin Island, explored the sands at the beach, saw the giant alligator several times, had a run in with a heron and a raccoon, caught fresh blue crabs off the dock, bought delicious, local seafood from Sassy Bass market, ate there, too, and at Tacky Jack's---I'm sure I'm forgetting something, just know I would definitely recommend this location if the few cons mentioned at the beginning of this review aren't a deal breaker for you.

Amazing views, great neighbors and better than expected!

  • 5 of 5

The location was great for a laid back vacation. The condo was clean, neat and the views were amazing. A new washer and dryer were installed, plus the ac was cold . No complaints here and I travel a great deal. I would definitely stay again. Also, the other visitors/owners were friendly and welcoming. I took my old yellow lab. It was such a blessing to be able to have him with us. Thanks so much!!!

Review of Gulf Shores Condo

  • 3 of 5

Property is a great location with the Mobile Bay right outside the units, and the ocean and beaches across the street. The 3 bedrooom unit was as we expected, not luxurious and with older furniture and a very old stove, that worked fine. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking pots, pans etc. Having a Kayak and beach toys was a plus provided with this unit.

This would have been rated 4 star BUT>>>the air con went out at 10 p.m. on the 3rd night. It was a sleepless night trying to do breakers etc. We contacted the owner the next morning via text and he said he would have a repairman there in 30 minutes, and although it was after noon before it got fixed, we were gracious about it. HOWEVER, at the time we texted him, we advised him that we had no electric grill as the grill kept kicking the breaker. In addition, we advised him that one of the dining room chairs collapsed while we were eating dinner, with a child on it, and that the whole dining room table was wobbly as well as the bar stools at the counter. The table set was quite old and the legs had clearly been repainted. There WAS no rough-housing involved with this chair, and the child could have been hurt. Nothing was said in reply by the owner. HOWEVER he kept $100.00 of my deposit for "damage to table leg". Quite frankly I am incensed at this.At that time, in that same text, we informed him that the furnace filters were beyond filthy. I can't imagine him not having the a/c repairman replace these while he was there. Overall I have my doubts about every using HOME AWAY, if someone can just deduct from the security deposit at random. I contacted the owner on this but have had no response.

Map

Navy Cove Harbor is a quiet, family -oriented resort located at the south end of Mobile Bay and where the Gulf of Mexico begins. This area provides the best of the Mobile Bay. Navy cove is located next to a Wild Life Sanctuary, civil war memorial, a scenic ferry ride and only a two minute boat ride to Dixey Bar. This rental includes a kayak and a boat slip. This is truly a retreat at the beach you'll never forget!
