Enjoyed the Bayou Guest House. They have provided so many things that all you need to do is turn the key and enjoy!
We had a terrific time at the home. It is so spacious! It worked perfectly for 3 couples. We made good use of the balcony each morning and evening enjoying the warm weather and the bayou view. The decor throughout is simply lovely, especially the eclectic paintings. We've never had a King Cake before. Thank you Katie for that! It was delicious. The Parkway next door does have outstanding Po Boys. The other reviewers were right! We took Uber wherever we needed to go. We'd definitely recommend the home.
Terrific place for 3 couples!
Our experience was consistent with others who had rave reviews. Centrally located if you're interested in seeing the entire city, and especially good for getting onto bike trail to French Quarter or meandering over to City Park. We didn't rent a car; easy to rely on Lyft and Uber. Spacious common space, well-equipped kitchen, and wonderful porch to watch the Bayou. Caretakers were very helpful and responsive, both before and during the trip. Exceeded our (high) expectations!
Don’t hesitate. Stay here.
Couldn’t find a better place for 3 couples on Voodoo weekend. We loved the game room! And Parkway Tavern just across the street served as a launching pad for the day with delicious Bloody Mary’s and Po Boys. Can’t wait to visit again.
Perfect place to chill
Wonderful, spacious house with three nice bedrooms, each with full bath. Nice view over the bayou from the porch. The pool table and foosball table are an added bonus to a lovely spot.
Beautiful, clean, comfortable - all around, a fantastic place to stay in the big easy!
This Mid City neighborhood that runs along the Bayou St. John is rooted in the deep cultural history of New Orleans. Originally named Bayouk Choupic by the Native Americans settled here, the bayou has served as grounds for many things from voodoo ceremonies to coffee importing over the last 300 years.
These days, the neighborhood is mixed with both homes & local businesses. It offers a taste of local life away from the busy touristy vibe.
Demographics include young professionals, generations-long Nola families, weekend-visiting homeowners, earthy folks who appreciate green-living, & retirees.
The surrounding streets around the apartment is active during the day with the famous po'boy restaurant across the street, kayakers on the bayou, neighbors walking their dogs, and the Lafitte Corridor - a bike & jog pathway that connects us to the French Quarter.
Every Thursday is a Farmer's Market across the bayou. Within walking distance are several bars & restaurants, a wine garden, & the street car. City Park/Museum of Art & Jazz Fest/Race Track Fairgrounds are a nice 1 mile walk along the bayou & meandering streets.
In the evening, the area is quiet.
