This 2 family building has two apartments, and we live downstairs. Your second level apartment has 2 + bedrooms, a full bath, fully equipped kitchen and a small garage for your car.
FOR FAMILIES: Babies and kids are considered guests and are to be included in the guest count.
Room 1 faces south and you can leave the blinds up and the windows open, there is nobody looking in. This room has a large closet, a queen size bed with side tables and reading lamps.
Room 2 is in the middle, it also has has a large closet, a queen size bed with side tables and reading lamps.
Room 3 is the smallest, this is great for kids - this room has a trundle bed so it's set up a single bed and can be converted to a queen size bed. We don't indicate this as a "full bedroom", as without a closet in the room it's not a legal bedroom.
We have a brand new sofa pull out bed (not a futon) in the living room for additional sleeping spaces. There is also a leather sectional couch in the living room although this is NOT a sleeping space. If additional sleeping space is required we will provide you with an air mattress.
Many ask about the price and extra fees and how to pay. When you put in the dates and number of people you will get our total cost. There are no taxes on top of this, but VRBO adds their fee.
All the payments are safely made with credit card when booking.
Bookings with us are done with the "strict" cancellation policy and all cancellations should be done through VRBO. This being said, if we manage to re-rent the place the nights you have canceled we can give a bigger refund to you than what the strict cancellation policy dictates. The earlier you cancel the bigger the chance that we will find other guests.
This is a quiet residential one way street running east. The neighborhood is a mix of South and Central Americans and also home to a large Hasidic Jewish community. You can walk home from the bus at any time, day or night, without problem. There are good restaurants nearby, a huge supermarket a 5 min walk away, and the most stunning skyline views you'll ever see at the end of the street.
To confirm that you have read the entire description, please include the secret word "rockefeller" in your inquiry to me.
We must know in advance if you are intending to drive to us and will require parking.
Our driveway is narrow, and measures 82". My husband drives a Ford Edge and his car fits.
Parking in the neighborhood is not easy, and a visitor permit is required. You can only park for a maximum of two hours without a permit. We have to arrange for visitor parking permits, so advance notice is necessary to make sure that we have a visitor pass ready for you. If we don't know in advance that you'll need a visitor permit, then you will have to allow us time to make arrangements for a permit for you.
When we arrived it was exactly the way it looked in pictures! The house had everything we needed including umbrellas that came in handy one of the days during our stay. We had 3 adults and 3 kids (12,12&7) we had more than enough room in the house. The location is great because it is walking distance from where the bus picks you up to take you to Times Square and also walking diatance from a pizzeria! No worries if you dont want to walk you can order delivery.....the recommendations Maria gave us are all great we tried EVERYONE :) I am definitely calling her next time my family vacations in NY. Jay and Maria are great they went above and beyond for us! Our vehicle was parked wrong and we were about to get a ticket and they were nice enough to go speak to police to prevent us from getting a ticket. The police allowed Jay to move our vehicle so we wouldn't get a ticket. Such a nice gesture of them to out of their way for us. We appreciate everything Maria and Jay! Thank you for a awesome worry free stay :) Also thank you for the croissants it was a nice surprise on Christmas day!
Maria's house was nicely furnished with the exception of the beds, they were very hard, and one queen bed, you could only sleep one person otherwise you'd roll into the lighter weight person. But other than that it was clean furnished nice and had great access to stores, restaurants and NYC. Easily accessed and great communication with Maria. We enjoyed our stay.
We arrived at Maria's lovely Union City abode with three young children after an entire day of trekking through NYC (with a stroller and multiple day packs) and were welcomed by a clean, sizeable and well-appointed apartment that was just what we needed after a busy day of sightseeing. The apartment was fantastic in size and location!!! In not having been to the area with kids, we were a bit hesitant of the "ease" with which all other guests boasted getting into and out of NJ, but it is the absolute truth. We always used the NJ Transit buses (simply because they fit our schedule best) and never took longer than 20 minutes to be at the Port Authority station including the short walk to the bus stop...even in morning and evening rush hour! There wasn't a single thing we couldn't find in the apartment (the kitchen was well-outfitted with all the necessities and there were towels and linens to our hearts content). All of the beds were comfy and, best of all, our family felt like we could all spread out throughout the apartment at each day's end to regenerate after the crazy bustling of NYC. If you are looking for a clean, budget-friendly escape that gives you respite from your busy stay in the big city, pick this gem!
Maria and Jay are very accommodating hosts who have set up this apartment to use as a base for visiting New York City. We were a family of five and it served us very well. The apartment itself is clean and comfortable, and comes with a fully functional kitchen. Access to NYC is very easy - there are shuttle busses that run nearby which will take you to the NYC bus terminal - we never waited more than about three minutes to hop on, or to return. If you have a car, I recommend parking it in the drive at the back of the apartment as the streets are narrow and we observed a few vehicles whose mirrors had been clipped by passing traffic.
The apartment is located in a mixed neighborhood close to the Lincoln Tunnel and there are many restaurants nearby that are more affordable than the touristy ones you will find in NYC proper. We ate a place featuring Columbian food and found it to offer good value. Groceries can also be purchased at a supermarket just a few blocks away.
Your hosts will provide you with lots of tips that will help you get the most out of your visit. We would not hesitate to use this as a base for future visits to New York.
Thank you so much for hosting our stay with you! Your apartment was much better than described, spotlessly clean and tidy with much more room than we anticipated! This allowed us the luxury of being able to relax like home while on holidays! We especially loved having our own space to sleep in and for that little bit of time out! The large fridge and basic items in the kitchen was a huge bonus and we only wish we had more time there to enjoy it more! Thank you also for giving us the insiders hints and tips on staying in the apt, staying in NJ and getting in and out of Manhattan which despite my scepticism was a breeze! Highly recommended, great hosts, great apartment!
