About Pete Pennington

I grew up in a small town a couple hours North of Bend. We spent holidays at a family home in Sisters. I love the area. When a wilderness therapy company opened in Bend in 2005, I jumped at the opportunity to return. I spent six years living out of a backpack working with troubled youth East of Bend. My connection with the area grew stronger and I committed to staying in the area. After going back to school at OSU, I founded a nonprofit where I serve as the Executive Director.

Pete Pennington purchased this house in 2015

Why Pete Pennington chose Bend

I rented the house across the street. Literally. When the houses around me became vacation rentals, I adopted the motto: "Live where you vacation." I love the location. I can ride my bike to Phil's trail, beat the traffic up the hill to Bachelor, walk my dog to Drake park, run from my front door through the Old Mill to the River Trail and eat at my favorite restaurants. The Victorian has best brunch in Bend. Brother Jon's Buffalo Mac is my comfort food. Parilla's blackened salmon wrap gets me through those times when there's just too much going on to find time to cook. I teach yoga at Namaspa, two blocks West of the house and love being able to walk to class and avoid the parking at 10 barrel. I bought the house because I've lived here for 10 years and this address gives me the highest quality of life I could have.

What makes this house unique

Location, location, location. You won't have to drive or deal with parking. With the bike's, you can be anywhere within 8 minutes. You don't have to worry about drinking and driving. Your legs will be warm by the time you hit the trail at Phil's. You can walk to the river, yoga, food options...

Living like a local in Bend

  • 5 of 5

Four of us stayed here for 3 nights with 2 small dogs and we had a fantastic time. The house is located in a neighbourhood with restaurants, pubs, including 10 Barrels just down the street and an easy stroll to the Deschutes River and down town. We picked the hottest weekend in Bend (according to locals) but each bedroom had an AC unit, which made it cool to sleep and a place to escape the heat. The house is surrounded by big trees, so we spent time on the patio watching the world go by. The dogs also had a good time in the fenced off yard. Added bonus was having the cruiser bikes and being able to walk down to the river for a float. Thank you Pete and Lindsay for the stay and we will be back in Bend.

Perfectly Situated for our young family & dog.

  • 5 of 5

We loved our weekend at the Bendite Bungalow. The location of the home is walkable to lots of great restaurants for any meal of the day. It's also very close to most of the attractions in and around Bend so you're never a long drive away from doing something really fun. We really appreciated the layout of the house which was just perfect for my husband, my 4-year-old and our dog. The home was nicely appointed - but the real winner was the fenced front yard. Our dog loved basking outside in the summer sun and we were perfectly content with either a coffee in the AM or a glass of wine in the PM enjoying Bend with her. Pete was super accommodating and a most gracious host. We will DEFINITELY be back here!

Nice place, but too noisy for me.

  • 3 of 5

This is a nice property, and all in good working order. However, I am sensitive to noise and it is on a busy street which makes sitting outside not so enjoyable. Was surprised that no other reviewer mentioned this. Inside, during hot weather when we were there, we had to have window air-conditioners running the whole time, also noisy! So for those of you like me, this is good to know. Otherwise, all good!

Amazing in Every Way

  • 5 of 5

As a first time visitor to Bend, I couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. The space itself was perfect for 5 of us and the location couldn't have been better. Peter was a great host, had detailed instructions for checking in and checking out and ensured that everything we might need was taken care of.
