This comfortable house has a full kitchen, a shower bath, a loft bedroom with a queen-size bed, and a second bedroom with two single beds. Whether you love adventure and hiking through trails, or you have more of an artistic flair there's a little bit of everything available just around the corner. Take advantage of the easy day trips to historical Fort Anne and the world-famous Historical Gardens in Annapolis Royal, or plan a day to Brier Island and go whale watching. There are plenty of opportunities to pick up antiques and unique crafts, with lots of art galleries in the area. Wineries and farmer's markets abound in the valley. And of course there's always some interesting things to see when you go exploring the sea floor when the tide is out at Hampton Beach.
On rainy days the farmhouse has cozy places to curl up and read, or spend some quiet time as a family playing board games and working on puzzles.

About Laura Bright
Rob and Laura Bright are the proud owners of Down by the Bay Farm in Hampton, Nova Scotia. Originally from the "big smoke" (Toronto) we have been itching to get out into the country and try our hand at farming. We started looking for some property in Ontario, but on a whim came out to Nova Scotia on vacation and fell in love with this little farm in Hampton. We aren't ready yet to completely leave city life behind (e.g. still need to work!) but we love coming out here for a few weeks at a time when we can.
Laura Bright purchased this Farmhouse in 2014
Why Laura Bright chose Annapolis, Subd. B
We just loved exploring the area in and around Hampton last year. There are so many little towns and interesting places to check out. There is a little bit of everything just around the corner: farmer's markets, museums, whale watching tours, wineries, historical sites, art galleries. And of course, the Maritime hospitality and friendliness is not to be missed!
What makes this Farmhouse unique
There are so many things that made us fall in love with the farm. The view of the Bay of Fundy for starters, and of course the 6 acres of land with a small pasture (perfect for short walks with the dog). The neighbour across the road have a horse, and a donkey (named Donkey just like the one in Shrek), and when you get tired of looking out over the bay, you can just watch the horse and donkey grazing. The little room on the left of the house is a perfect cozy spot to curl up with a good book on a cold rainy day. And the kitchen is probably the biggest one we have ever had!

Down By The Bay Farm in Hampton Nova Scotia
We had a wonderful stay at this farm house and the village of Hampton is a lovely place to spend some time. Picturesque and a wonderful beach make this an attractive destination. On arrival everything was as expected and we were able to get settled in quickly. As described in previous reviews, a ten minute drive will get you into Bridgetown where you can find most everything needed for your stay. The wood stove in the LR was wonderful and worked nicely to take the chill off in the evenings. It was so nice to be able to get up in the morning and look across the road and see the lovely horses and "donkey" grazing in the pasture. All required cooking amenities were available however we did find the coffee machine was lacking instructions on how to use it and it was in need of a good cleaning. We don't usually need much in the way of instructions for a coffee maker but this one did give us some issues to the extent that we went out and purchased a new one for our own use. Although the web site indicates TV is available it should be noted that it was only available for using the DVD player. The house is very roomy and the furniture is adequate. We only used the queen sized bed (very comfy) so cannot comment on the two single beds in the second bedroom. The damage deposit return was completed quickly and without any issues. If you don't mind the lack of TV and/or Wifi you should find this lovely farmhouse more than adequate for a lovely stay. Debbie and Terry
Wonderful place! Perfect home base for our Bay of Fundy adventures.
The pictures on the listing really don't do this lovely farmhouse justice. We arrived mid afternoon to find a kitchen and living room bathed in sunlight, and cozy bedrooms with comfortable beds waiting for us. At the back of the property, there is a little hill where we watched quite a few sunsets over the bay. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed, we loved having the bbq (visit D'Aubin Family Meats for some delicious steaks) and the deck to relax on in the evenings. On our last night, we watched the sunset and then enjoyed a fire in the wood burning stove in the living room - bliss! And if you're in to star gazing, just go outside to the deck and be amazed.
The hosts provided lots of informational brochures to help us plan our day trips out and about. In our 5 day stay, we visited Annapolis Royal, the wineries in Gaspereau, Grand Pre, Blomidon Provincial Park, Wolfville, Digby, Tiverton and Brier Island. We also messaged them for tips on where to eat around the farm, as it is a little remote, and Laura was quick to reply and very helpful (Crow's Nest on Shore Rd is delicious and Lavena's Catch in Freeport is a must).
We would definitely recommend this property to others and hope to return again!
Thank you for the lovely review. We are so happy to hear you enjoyed your stay at the farm, and the suggestions on where to eat! Lavena's really is a must!!
Quiet getaway, very clean and comfortable!
The house was very clean and comfortable with well-appointed kitchen and outdoor grill, and well-stocked with board games, books and movies. The location was incredibly scenic with horses in front and cows behind, beautiful sunsets, a lovely walk to the Hampton wharf, rocky beach and lighthouse. A great home base to explore Nova Scotia's Annapolis Valley!
So happy to hear you enjoyed your stay!
Beautiful cottage, impeccably kept.
Glad you enjoyed your stay!
Absolutely beautiful home and location!
My family and I spent one of the most wonderful vacations we’ve ever had in this beautiful home.
After a very long drive from Montreal we arrived in awe at this BEAUTIFUL home up on the mountain! I think all of our mouths dropped when we first saw the beautiful blue home with a cute porch overlooking the Bay of Fundy, surrounded by cows and horses and wonderfully appointed grounds…and that was just from when we pulled into the driveway!
Once we walked through the front door, it got even better; the home had a rustic yet modern feel to it. The sitting room was decorated with beautiful antique pieces (it became my most favorite room to sit, have a cup of tea and read…there was something so cozy about it)
The master bedroom was very open and airy and the bed was very comfortable. The other room with the twin beds was perfect size for my two boys. It was a little hot in there at night but the fan helped them a lot. We had incredible weather everyday.
The living room was very comfortable and it is where we spent our evenings playing the nice selection of board games or watching one of the DVDs that were offered.
The kitchen was gorgeous. Nice high end finishings and it offered every kitchen utensil/pot/small appliance you would ever need. The bathroom was nicely decorated.
There was a side door leading to this big enclosure for our two small dogs to roam freely…it was like their own little heaven.
There was a great barbecue and patio set where we would enjoy all our meals…that is until the sun went down and the mosquitoes were ravenous!! Do not go without mosquito repellant!
The yard led to this little hilltop which is where we sat and enjoyed the most spectacular sunsets I have ever seen.
At night the starry sky was so beautiful and surreal, it was something we will never forget...but sadly the mosquitoes brought us indoors after not too long.
The scallops in the area were so delicious!! We took a day trip down into the quaint little town of Annapolis valley and the drive there all along the Bay of Fundy was stunning!
But as with every holiday this one had come to an end and I knew the kids had a great time.
Country living was quite the adventure for us city folk 😉
Thank you for such a lovely review and we are glad you enjoyed your time at the farm!
Home away from home!
We were looking for a comfortable home away from home and certainly found it in the farmhouse. It was everything we had hoped it would be and more. When we first walked in and saw the comfortable recliners to the country size kitchen with all the comforts of home to the upstairs bedrooms we knew we had rented the right place for us to stay for the two weeks we were in Nova Scotia to explore the Valley and beyond.
If we needed anything, and of course we did, we just made a call to the property manager and he came a runnin'. Fixed the issue lickety split (while we were out exploring and doing our thing) so when we came 'home' everything was great! It was like having a leprechaun in our house.
The amenities in Bridgetown were just what we needed from a grocery store, to a Farmer's market and a butchers as well as a laundry mat and a pharmacy. Yep needed to do laundry and get bandaids from all that walking we did in Digby, Lunenberg, Annapolis Valley, etc.
The Farmhouse is in a perfect location to get to all of the places we wanted to go - not too far to drive and we didn't get home too late. The wood burning stove was perfect to warm up the chilly morning and we were able to see the beautiful sunset just a few steps out the back door.
We highly recommend the farmhouse for one night or for two weeks...however long is needed you won't regret this cozy comfortable home away from home.
So happy to hear you enjoyed your stay and used the farm as base camp to go exporing the Valley! Also glad to hear that the issues were resolved quickly and without any inconvenience to you. Hope you consider staying with us again if you come back to Nova Scotia.
The property is a 10 minute walk to Hampton Beach and the historical Hampton Lighthouse, pack a lunch and go exploring the ocean floor when the tides are out. Don't miss out on the Annapolis Royal farmer's market on Saturday mornings, and while in town check out the world famous Historic Gardens, and Fort Anne. Head on down to the end of Shore Road and take a hike along the Delaps Cove Wilderness Trails, and stop in at the Nautical Seafoods market in Parker's Cove for fresh lobster and scallops. Whale watching is a must! Drive out to Brier's Island to hop on a zodiac and follow a pod of whales for 3 hours, get there early and you can explore Seal Cove before you head out. On the way home be sure to stop at Lavena's Catch Cafe for some of the tastiest seafood chowder you've ever had. If you love art than Annapolis Valley is the place to explore! Be sure to take a drive into Bear River and pop into the Flight of Fancy gallery/store. Featuring local artists this place has a little bit of everything, and if you spend less than 1 hour in the store it'd be a first. On the way out of Bear River take a tour of the winery, or if you're more into coffee, check out the Sissiboo coffee roastery.
