About the property

This fabulous apartment is located  in the heart of the Oltrarno district, just a few steps away from Santo Spirito square and all of the typical antique shops, artisans' studios and great restaurants the neighbourhood has to offer. Located on the first floor of a beautiful Palazzo of via dei Serragli, it has been entirely renovated in 2013 and can sleep up to 4 guests.

The bridge right next to the apartment is Ponte della Carraia, where it is possible to find excellent cafes' and restaurants and just walk through streets with unbeatable character and fantastic shopping. All of the city's main monuments and points of interests can be quickly and easily reached in a just a few minutes walk. To name a few examples: world renowned Ponte Vecchio (Old Bridge) is just a about a 5 minutes walk away, the Uffizi museum and Piazza dell Signoria just about 7/8 minutes, Santo Spirito square (with its wonderful daily market) about 2 minutes away and the Pitti Palace about 5 minutes away.

Please note that the loft is inside the centre town's restricted traffic area, so it is ideal for those travelling by plane or train, wishing to live as a local, within walking distance of the main tourist attractions. However, upon request, a car pick-up and parking service is available and includes cancellation of any penalty for entering the restricted area outside of the accessible times.

The apartment is about 780 square feet large on two levels - with a loft section connected by a wooden stair case. It can sleep up to 4 guests and comes with 2 bedrooms and 1 and a half bathrooms.

It has been entirely renovated in 2013 and is very quiet, with double-paned windows, air-conditioning, wi-fi, (see speed below*), a flat TV with blu ray reader and elegant furniture including lively paintings.

The entrance of the apartment opens up on the living area that features a cozy living room and a dining area with an open fully equipped kitchen.

One double bedroom with a king-size bed overlooking a quiet courtyard allows for a peaceful night sleep, undisturbed regardless of the potential late night happenings of the lively neighbourhood.

The upstairs mezzanine/loft hosts two single beds and is light and airy thanks also to its large window. It is possible to easily stand up in the mezzanine as in its highest part the ceiling is at about 6 feet.1” but mind the beam at its end!

The first bathroom has wonderful wooden exposed beams, and features a sink, walk-in shower and toilet. The second (half) bathroom comes with a washing machine.

The name “Oltrarno” literally means “beyond the Arno”, and this district, which stretches along the south bank of the river, represents the true character of Florence and in general is quieter, greener and more relaxed than the other districts of Florence so that many tourists tend to choose the Oltrarno area for this reasons.

Locals still live and work in this area and have not given it over completely to generic chain shops and hotels as some of the other area of the center have slowly done. Traditionally an artisans’ quarter, the Oltrarno still boasts many lovely antique shops and artisans’ studios (especially furniture and leather-workers) and Via Maggio remains the focus of Florence’s thriving antiques trade. In many little squares and streets of this area the traditional daily life can still be seen more easily than elsewhere in the city. Monuments, museums, churches, palaces, parks: Pitti Palace, the Ponte Vecchio, Santo Spirito Square, the Gardens of Boboli - as well as Yoga studios, bookstores with restaurant, cafés, music venues, jazz shops, art galleries and the best restaurants in town for quality price ratio make the Oltrarno the trendiest district of Florence.

The check in time is from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m and the check out is at 10.00 a.m.

A security deposit of 200 euros to be paid on arrival will be given back to guests on departure after checking for damage or breakage.

Since 2014 the City of Florence has enforced a tourist tax for flats. Such tax rate is 2,50 euros per adult per night for a maximum of 7 consecutive nights. Children below 12 years old are exempted. Such amount shall be collected in cash at check-in, and paid by the flat owner to the City of Florence on a monthly basis - see" and

Tourists arriving in Italy must submit a declaration of presence form to a local police office within 1 day of arrival. A photocopy of the main page of the passport of every guest is hence required (alternatively passport details such as number [only for the head odf the family or group], date and country of birth, citizenship), before arrival or at check- in.

Fantastic location in Oltarno.

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at this comfortable apartment in Oltarno. The location is just perfect, close to the train station, close to all the sights, but at the same time it is away from the crowds. The two bedrooms were very comfortable with excellent beds. The kitchen has everything needed. And the best part......the best gelato shop in Florence is just down the street! We went there twice a day!

Highly recommended apartment.

Wonderful apartment in great location

  • 5 of 5

This is a well appointed apartment that is just over the Arno river. Walking distance to much of the center of Florence but away from the crowds.

It is located in a nice neighborhood with many very good restaurants. There is a Thai massage parlor a few blocks down on the same street that was one of the best I have ever had.

Gaia was very responsive to all questions. I highly recommend this lovely apartment

Great Stay in Florence

  • 5 of 5

Our family rented the apartment from August 15-19 so that we could have accommodations for my wife, our two grown children and me for our highly anticipated stay in beautiful, historic Florence. Our time there was more than we could imagine or hope for, and our dwelling was perfect! It was like a home away from home with an adequately equipped kitchen, a table for family meals, a washing machine with clothesline, and a comfortable sitting area in a lovely setting. The location was excellent - within walking distance of all historic venues and sites and somewhat removed from the hustle of tourism. This apartment helped our time in Florence be the best it could be!!

Cristina was waiting by the door for us when we arrived and was very friendly. Everything in the room was very clean, the pictures were very accurate. There were plenty of places to eat and drink nearby, and the train station was just a short walk across the river. My wife and I will definitely consider staying there again on our next trip.

Excellent location. Truly enjoyed this apartment

  • 5 of 5

This was an excellent apartment for our family. Gaia and Cristina were great to work with.

Our family of four stayed in this apartment for 3 nights. The location was great for us. We had been to Florence two other times previously and had spots that we wanted to visit. Plus, we learned of new spots in Santo Spirito, that we will go back to.

Our two daughters (17 and 13) slept upstairs in the loft. I did not go up there, but they seemed ok with it. There were two bathrooms, one full and one half. There is a washing machine which we took full advantage of. The a/c kept the place very cool.

This was a great place for us to stay. Fit our family of four perfectly. We would stay in this place again on future trips to Florence. Loved the location and the ability to get to all the top spots of Florence easily by foot. But, also away from the hustle/bustle of Florence.

Can't say enough about Gaia/Cristina and their responses to our needs. We tripped the circuit breaker late at night, and sent a text message that was immediately responded to. Had power back on in seconds. Great customer service, and will hook up with these two on our next trip to the area.
