A sweet one bedroom apartment on a quiet shaded estate farm.
About Annette MacKay
Gord and I emigrated from Vancouver, BC to Lodi, CA in November 2001. We were looking for a stimulating change and wanting to live in a wine producing region. One thing led to another and Lodi was where we landed. We raised 2 wonderful young men to adulthood and are now gleefully embracing the next phase. It's time to play. It's time to expand our circle of friends. It's time to share our spaces with others. Wine Crest Estate with its 5 bedrooms and The Poolhouse, ample living area, pool, lush grounds, and 2 resident hosts (us) to ensure a trouble free stay.
Annette MacKay purchased this Estate in 2014
Why Annette MacKay chose Acampo
Wine Crest found us. We were out riding our bikes in the delta in December 2013. Circumnavigating Grand Island when we came across a lovely restored Victorian just south of the Grand Island Mansion. While it was quite beautiful it was not well situated nor did it have enough bathrooms, but it did fire our imaginations and reawaken our dreams of having a home we could share with others. With the boys grown and moving on and Gord getting close to retirement we figured we'd better get on with it. By Feb our realtor and dear friend Kathy Wooton came across a listing for this home. We were gobsmacked when we viewed it. Spacious bedrooms, lots of bathrooms, a large gourmet kitchen, beautiful dining room with built in hutch, a gorgeous fully walled and gated garden, swimming pool/hot tub, garage with workshop, garden shed, stately palm trees, massive old shade trees and a fish pond. Adding a few chickens and ducks was all it needed to be the property of our dreams. Come and stay, fall in love with Wine Crest as we did. Actually, I must tell you that Wine Crest was not its name when we bought the property. The name on the gate was Wind Crest. Being 'wine' people it was a no brainer to change out the 'D' for an 'E'. Blessedly changing the name did not offend the evening Delta Breeze that Lodi is known for.
What makes this Estate unique
Our home is located in the Lodi Wine Grape Region where there are more than 100 wineries and 100,000 acres of grapes farmed by over 750 growers. We've got a Mediterranean climate: long warm dry summers & short cool moist winters. Averaging only 17" of rainfall a year (most of which falls between October and May). With so many wineries now hosting events Lodi is quickly becoming the place to hold weddings. Wine Crest is perfect for the bride & groom and their VIPs. Most of the wedding venues are within a 15 - 30 minute drive. If you are looking to stage your wedding in Lodi, I suggest you plan well in advance. The venues are booking up earlier and earlier. Wine Crest is not able to host weddings and events.

CHARMINGLY LUXURIOUS EXCLUSIVITY!
ANNETTE AND GORDON LIVE WELL SO WHEN YOU STAY WITH THEM YOU ALSO LIVE WELL. THEY WILL TAKE YOU UNDER THEIR WING AND GUIDE YOU IN YOUR QUEST. WE WERE THERE FOR THE WINE AND CHOCOLATE EVENT OVER VALENTINE'S DAY WEEKEND. THERE ARE SO MANY WINERIES IN THE LODI AREA YOU WOULD NEED A WEEK TO SEE THEM ALL. WE ALSO WENT OVER TO SUTTER'S MILL AND AMADOR COUNTY WHERE NOT ONLY ARE THERE INTERESTING OLD TOWNS BUT ALSO MORE WINERIES! DOBRA ZEMLJA WINERY HAS AS IT'S OWNER A CHARACTER NAMED MILAN, WHO WILL REMIND YOU OF ALBERT EINSTEIN. WE VISITED SAN FRANCISCO, SONOMA, NAPA TO CALISTOGA, AND EVEN BODEGA BAY OF HITCHCOCK'S "THE BIRDS" FAME.
Wonderful location, wonderful hosts!
We needed a place to stay for relatives coming to Lodi. The Wine Crest was a beautiful respite for our travelers. The owners were friendly, helpful and fun. The location was close to town, but what a treat to be nestled among the vineyards after driving down the tree-lined driveway to a beautiful oasis. It will be recommended and rented many times in the future!
Thanks for the lovely review, Dianna. It was a pleasure to provide lodging to your travelers.
Peace & Quiet
What a great 3 days of rest, relaxation and wine. Annette and Gordon have a beautiful home that exceeded our expectations. Quiet and comfortable no matter where you are on the property. They also provided the best recommendations for wineries and restaurants in the area. We will be back in 2016 for some cycling with Gordon.
Hope to return to Wine Crest Inn soon!!!
It has been only one week since we left Wine Crest Inn, and we already miss it! What a beautiful home - it is a sanctuary. My husband and I stayed at Wine Crest with my parents to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary, and it was absolutely lovely. Annette and Gordon were exceedingly hospitable.
First, the house is stunning. Each bedroom is beautifully appointed and comfortable. Upon my return to Texas, I immediately purchased the same fragranced shower gel/lotion provided at the house, and it will always remind me of this vacation!
We enjoyed the pool after each day of touring & wine tasting. Their recommendations for wineries & restaurants were spot-on.
Breakfast was perfection (and prepared from scratch, by the way), and Annette & Gordon were happy to accommodate our dietary requests. My husband and dad enjoyed a run around beautiful Lodi Lake, and my mother and I admired the gardens.
Coming from Texas, Wine Crest Inn was an oasis in August. It was hot during the day, but cooler at night, and the pool was refreshing. Honestly, we can't say enough about this pool.
I would highly recommend this property to my family and friends. This is the standard to which all other B&B's will be compared! :-)
Annette and Gordon, thank you!
San Joaquin County is home to over 100,000 acres of vineyards. We have just over 100 wineries, with tasting available at about 80 of them. In the middle of it all is the little town of Lodi. There are 13 tastings rooms downtown. With the increase in wineries offering event space and the predictably great weather, Lodi has become the go to place for weddings, family reunions and corp events.
