Why Gail Dodge chose Puerto Penasco (Rocky Point)

Las Conchas has a wonderful beach and neighborhood. I have been enjoying Rocky Point for 30 years. While at U of A, it was a common weekend getaway. We used to camp out on Sandy Beach (where all the highrises have been built). Other than that, there was one small hotel and Las Conchas. Knowing a person with a house in Las Conchas was a golden ticket... no camping on the beach. My roommate had one. It was wonderful. Unbelievable paradise. As an adult, I had been traveling down by myself and staying in the neighbors casita. Very cute and authentic Mexican style, maintains the original layout and design. One week I took my friend down there. The casita that we own had a for sale sign, we had assumed it would be identical to the one we were staying in, but were blown away when we had a chance to take a peek inside. It was modernized and had a living room, dining area, sleeping nook, bathtub and kitchen counter bar added. It's both small and spacious. The square footage could have easily accommodated 4 bedrooms. Instead it has a giant open area upon entrance with the kitchen, and 2 master king suites. We put an offer in that day and closed at the end of our week long stay. I remember my friends house was a 3 bedroom, but it felt more closed in and smaller. The large entry/kitchen has a vaulted ceiling with skylights. And the bedrooms are much larger than my master bedroom in my own home.

What makes this house unique

In many ways it's the perfect house for one couple up to two couples with kids. It's small enough and affordable enough that one couple doesn't feel like they overspent. With 2 couples, there are 2 matching extremely large master bedrooms with king beds. With two large matching bathrooms. One of the bathrooms has a tub. The bedrooms are on opposite sides of the house with no sharing walls, for complete privacy. So for 2 couples, there is no decision making on who gets the better bedroom-bathroom, since they are the same. If two couples have kids, there is a 10'x5' sleeping nook in one of the bedrooms. Though we are not beachfront, it might as well be. Just a house length long of a walk, down a path right across the road and you are on the beach. Set up your beach chairs and umbrellas for the day and easily go back and forth for food, drinks and bathroom breaks, at 1/2 the price of a beachfront. We thought about putting a margarita deck on the house for an 'ocean view' but why look at a sliver of ocean over the top of a house, when it only takes twice the time to walk down and actually be on the beach.

Lovely House!

  • 4 of 5

We had a really nice stay. The house was represented well on the website and it had everything one needs except for a locking front door! If you don't plan to go to town or hang out on the beach then you should be fine. Very nice place otherwise!

Owner's Response: The front door does lock, although because of the salt air and sun, it does sometimes stick and is hard to lock. I have contacted the caretaker to address this immediately, especially since this is the first I have heard about it. I do want to stress that there is a caretaker that is available for such circumstances, and I strongly advise all our guests to contact him immediately for such things. There is no reason that a guest should feel that they could not lock the house and feel secure.

2nd stay here - sure to be back!

  • 5 of 5

Overall a great find for vacationing in Rocky Point. The house is in a great location in Los Conchas, easy to find and directions provided are very helpful, super close walk to the beach. Our party of five and our dog really enjoy staying here, lots of room for all of us and our things. No issues with the water, appliances, AC or internet (even on vacation, these things are just things we can't seem to live without!)

Love this place!

I've been staying here for years. Perfect location. The only thing I recommend is bringing your own towels, washcloths and hands towels. They were on the creepy side.

Great times had by all

  • 5 of 5

We had a fabulous visit and enjoyed our "home" so near the beach. The pups appreciated the back yard and it lived up to every expectation and more. All the kitchen appliances and dishware we needed. Great for two couples or two small families. We would come back in a minute and plan to come back soon. Chinos was a great help and fun to visit, too.

Fantastic Sea of Cortez Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Amazing, relaxing stay. Enjoyed the morning walks on the beach. Close enough to town if you need something but far enough away for the solitude. Loved grilling the fresh shrimp. Absolutly wonderful beach house. Ideal for two couples.

Close to beach, perfect location

  • 5 of 5

The house had everything we needed, close to the beach and a quiet neighborhood in the perfect spot to walk to the beach. Would definitely consider staying here again.
