If you are the traveler who wants to live and feel the place you are visiting then this home is located right in the heart of the San Miguel. As you walk out the door you can either walk to the bustling Mercado San Juan de Dios, a quiet church or any of the many restaurants that fill the surrounding streets.
Our delightful home recently underwent a complete painting and is perfect for families, an intimate vacation for up to three couples, with private quarters for everyone. The charming garden with fountain and large sun terrace allow for much time to be spent outside enjoying the beautiful San Miguel weather.
This bright airy home circles around your private courtyard. Here you can relax and enjoy the gentle splashing of the fountain as you linger over coffee, a late breakfast, evening meals and after-dinner drinks. The living room is perfect for entertaining friends and family, watching a movie after a meal prepared in the lovely Mexican tiled and spacious kitchen. The home has two bedrooms with double size beds on the ground floor. Each bedroom has separate entrance, a private bathroom and windows opening onto the courtyard. Casa San Juan de Dios is all about outdoor living; the bright and airy living room opens onto the central courtyard.
The terrace is tastefully landscaped with ficus trees and bougainvillea. The second level master suite overlooks the courtyard.
The house keeper comes to clean and change linens, but is available for an extra fee to come more often, cook or babysit. Our house manager will be your host, serving as a great source of information and can assist you with all of your scheduling needs.
PLEASE CARE ENOUGH TO TIP THE STAFF. THEY WORK VERY HARD TO MAKE YOUR STAY EXCEPTIONAL
Our parents have been vacationing in SMA for years; in 2015 my wife and I visited and immediately fell in love! The 4 of us agreed that SMA should become our home away from home and began our search to find the perfect home. As retirees, our parents enjoy traveling the world while my wife and I have come to the conclusion that there is more to life than working 9-5. Whether family our guests, we take great pleasure in knowing that we can open our home to others and enjoy all that is San Miguel.
Shaun purchased this house in 2015
This property is San Miguel. The décor speaks to traditional Mexican architecture and the location puts us at the doorstep of all that is San Miguel. We are steps away from the market, which allows us to shop for fresh foods and flowers daily. Everything we need is steps away from our front door. Behind the doors is a sanctuary for us to spend our lazy afternoons.
Our home recently (2015) underwent a complete, inside and out re-painting. We spent many hours testing until we selected colors that are very calming/relaxing and highlight the unique craftsmanship throughout. Current photos do not show our new colors, but our most recent guests LOVE IT! In September 2016 we completed an expansion/renovation of the master bathroom and purchased new washer and dryer.
Shaun: Merry Christmas to you too! Our stay has been excellent and we are still enjoying our last hours in your nice home. Thanks a lot for your kindness and we hope to be in touch, again soon.
Best regards, SSD
Our party of six was very happy at Indio Triste this past week! All aspects, from the lovely courtyard to the comfy furnishings to the advanced water filtration system (so nice not to have to shower with mouths closed and brush teeth with bottled water, as is normal in Mexico!) to communications with owner Shaun and house manager Jesus, ran very cordially and smoothly.
Several caveats, neither of them about the house itself: the house is literally next door to one of SMA's large open-air markets, which was being renovated when we were there. That meant noise fairly early in the morning. On the other hand, how convenient to have an excellent market so close at hand! Second, expect a four-block uphill walk on typically ankle-twisting SMA cobblestone streets to reach the Jardin and Parroquia. Just watch your step and wear sturdy-soled shoes and you'll be fine.
We stayed for a weekend, we liked the house very much. It was extremely clean and comfortable. On this time of the year, the weather in San Miguel is beginning to get warmer, the house is kind of warm with not much cross ventilation.
Overall a great house for a great price, comfortable and close to "El Centro".
The manager "Jesus" very kind and attentive.
Super comfortable and great location. Food market is walking distance so you can have fresh produce and juices. Linens are first class.
This is an extremely charming house in a very central location (about 10 minutes walking distance from the main square in San Miguel). That said, it is a quiet street and peaceful.
The house has three comfortable bedrooms, two of which are downstairs so great for older members of the family who might not be able to walk upstairs. There is a very nice bedroom upstairs, along with a small sitting room and a gorgeous patio that is full of flowers and sunshine. All of the bedrooms have comfortable beds with lots of pillows, and the caretaker brought us blankets when it was cold. There are also gas heaters in every room, although we were able to turn them off before going to sleep and still feel toasty warm all night.
The living room features a fireplace and a comfortable sitting area, as well as TV with satellite and DVD options. The WiFi works great throughout the house.
The kitchen was very well equipped with everything that you need to prepare meals. There is a market directly across from the house, allowing easy access to any groceries. The water is potable, and very importantly, runs hot in the showers at all times!
The owner and his representative in San Miguel were very responsive and kind. We highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a place to stay in a central location.
This was our third visit/first stay at Indio Triste and we couldn't have asked for more. From the moment we entered the beautiful courtyard, we knew this private oasis was perfect. We are told that the home was recently painted, a new water purification system, wifi, cable and other upgrades making this our private playground. We couldn't ask for more and it's location to the market and el centro made this the perfect romantic getaway. Some nights were spent in the town square, other nights with wine & popcorn watching movies on the upper patio or entertaining new friends; our oasis had everything we needed. We only wish we had planned to stay longer; the host pointed us in all the right directions and we will definitely be back! Thanks to the attentive staff and the friendliest people on earth, we highly recommend that you make this home your home and San Miguel your next vacation stop. The culture is amazing!!
