About Jack and Sheila Ullrich

Originally from Chicago and Kentucky, we met and married in Naples, FL and have been married for 24 years. We have raised our 4 children in Naples, and they have grown up vacationing at our cabin.

Jack and Sheila Ullrich purchased this cabin in 1996

Why Jack and Sheila Ullrich chose Robbinsville

After many years of vacationing in the surrounding area, we purchased the cabin when our 4 children were small. We have created many lasting memories over the last 12 years with our family and friends, and enjoy sharing our place with others when we are not able to use it.

What makes this cabin unique

Our cabin is close to many of our favorite outdoor activities, including boating and tubing on Fontana Lake, whitewater rafting on the Nantahala River, hiking on the Appalachian Trail, exploring the waterfalls at Deep Creek in Bryson City, mountain biking at Tsali, and just relaxing at the cabin while building fires inside and out, roasting hot dogs and smores, sitting on the front porch swing enjoying the hummingbirds feed and reading a good book, listening to the babbling creek that runs through the property, and soaking up the peaceful feel of the surroundings.

Just what we were looking for!

  • 5 of 5

A well kept, clean and cozy cabin nestled deep in the mountains. Our kids (10 and 7) loved it and asked to return in the spring. We enjoyed hiking on the AT, to Yellow Creek Falls, and at Deep Creek. Perfect for a few night getaway.

theres good along with not so good

  • 4 of 5

The house is nice, there needs some drywall work here and there. When its cold outside the front room stays chilly which I like, but due to the location of the thermostat the rest of the house turns into an oven. When driving to the cabin there is the typical “mountain folk” who live in a trailer( not knocking that i grew up in trailer parks). But these are the type of people who have the trailer then like 5 little “storage buildings” with alot of junk. Now this isnt a hitn on this cabin but it is very near the cabin and you have to see it everytine you come or go.

Now that being said it wouldnt stop me from renting it again in the future. The cabin itself is nice we really didnt get a chance to use the fire pit or the outside deck. The wood has some algea growth on it which made it too slippery to walk down the stairs.( it should be pressure washed, and treated along with the rest of the deck its slippery due to the algea growth as well )

The cabin was stocked with alot of board games which was nice we used them alot. The bedrooms were nice, the whole house had a very nice decor.

With a few minir tweaks i wouldve given them a 5 star rating, i admit that one of the issues is out of their control (mountain folk) but like i said everytime you go in or out you must see it. Maybe a talking too from the owners would make a difference?? The other “issues” for the house could be addressed very easily (drywall finishing) and as for the heating issue in the house i would suggest if you are staying there in the winter you might want to close the heater vents in the loft bedroom.

All in all it was a nice stay and like i said it wouldnt stop us from going again. We would just do a couple things differently.

Was a cute cabin ..definitely nice & quiet..

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our 2 weeks at this cabin..had a few issues..parking was not ideal for pulling a trailer w/ bikes at all..had to find space around street area for trailers which was not ideal for our 3 trucks w/ trailers. Driveway was also hard to locate due to very thick leaves. Beds were not comfortable at all..very hard! No TV in master bed room..only one tv in house w/ very limited stations, we did not have WiFi for 4 days..satellite co issue not cabin issue. Towels were very musty..washed within an hour of arriving. Cabin could definitely use a deep down dusting..I know it is in the woods but there is a difference between spider webs & cobwebs. Besides those issues we did enjoy yourselves..very quiet, neighbors are friendly..there is no view..tucked away in the mountain which was very peaceful. We might return if we don’t bring trailer or truck. That was the biggest pain.

Beautiful cabin with easy access

  • 5 of 5

This is a great little setup and an easy location so you're not spending all your time trying to access the cabin. We had 6 adults staying for 4 nights and we all felt very comfortable. We used the outside fireplace one evening for smores and that was perfect. Recommended for sure
