Modern, immaculate and comfortable cabin surrounded by nature at it's finest
Tobacco Ridge Farm consists of 64 magnificent acres that you will have all to yourself to explore. The original tobacco barn has been fully renovated into a warm and cozy cabin that is clean, comfortable, modern inside and will easily sleep 5 - 6 people. The cabin has hard wood floors, knotty pine interior walls and the trim and stairs are made of reclaimed oak barn wood from a nearby farm. The custom handcrafted kitchen has a solid red oak countertop and cabinets also created from reclaimed barn wood. The kitchen has a farm house sink, refrigerator, microwave, stove, coffee maker, breakfast table with chairs and everything else that will make your stay comfortable. Downstairs is a private bedroom with 1 queen size bed and a dresser. Upstairs is a large "L" shaped loft with 3 twin beds and 1 full size bed. The bathroom is spacious with large step-in shower, blow dryer, cubbies for storage and a washer and dryer. The cabin offers Direct TV, a central a/c and heating system along with an instant hot water heater so you will never run out of hot water during your shower. Step outside onto the 16x20 deck over looking the fire pit and views of the farm. Outside are tables, chairs and a propane BBQ grill. Sit on the deck and listen to the wild turkey calling and the bluebirds singing while enjoying your morning coffee. There are 64 acres to explore which includes a creek, 3 small waterfalls, fields and woods. Walk quietly and you will see whitetail deer, wild turkey and numerous other wildlife. The farm land lays in several levels; top where the cabin and stock barn are located, middle field with long range views of the Daniel Boone National Forest and the bottom known as the holler where the creek and waterfalls flow. The farm has great views of the surrounding hills and is very quiet and peaceful. A nice fire pit is near the cabin with plenty of firewood that we supply along with three log benches for sitting. Campfires at night are awesome while roasting marsh mellows, making smores and sipping your favorite beverage. Take a picnic basket with you as you walk down to the creek (Clifty creek) and relax in the tranquil setting. There are many arrowheads lying around near the creek so look carefully and you may find some. There are two log benches down on the creek bank so you can sit and enjoy the surroundings. Next to the creek there is a place to set up a tent if you want to sleep under the stars while listening to the water roll across the rocks. The farm is only 1 hour south of Lexington where you can find the Bluegrass Airport, fine dining, shopping and world famous equestrian parks. Lake Cumberland is nearby where you can fish, swim, rent a boat or jet ski at Lee's Ford Marina. Cumberland falls, Daniel Boone National Forest and the Big South Fork National Forest are a short drive. North on Hwy 461 is Kentucky's country music hall of fame in Renfro Valley where you can see a show or walk through the quaint shops. There are restaurants, an old one room school house, water wheel and original old Kentucky log cabins that you can browse through. Two local wineries are just down the road where you can sample and purchase homemade wines. Cedar Creek lake and Laurel River lake are both a short drive where you can find awesome fishing and great views. Mammoth Cave National Park is under a two hour drive to the west on highway 80 for a fun day excursion. Somerset has many restaurants, an old fashion outdoor drive-in movie theater and many shops to visit. Somerset also has a really cool water park for the kids and a few private pay to fish stocked ponds if you want to wet a line. About a 10 minute drive from the farm in the nearby community of Staab Kentucky off highway 80 east is the worlds smallest creek known as "Short Creek" which you can find on the web. There you can swim, fish or explore the cave where the creek disappears back under ground, or you can skip all of it and just hang around the farm and get relaxed. The farm and cabin are truly a piece of old Kentucky history. It is peaceful, quiet and beautiful yet not to far from town and the lake. All we ask is that you please take care of our place like you would your own and keep it nice and clean. It has taken since 2009 to get the barn remodeled and comfortable and we are always improving. We hope you choose to stay at our wonderful farm, we enjoy sharing our little piece of Kentucky history with others. Please call me direct if you have any questions or suggestions. Kind regards, John and Caroline 772-216-3718

About John Barca
John and I like a nice, simple, yet clean and comfortable place to stay when we get away from our daily routine of work and raising kids. The property in Kentucky is just that. John, who has always wanted to be a farmer, had been in search of a special place for several years. He fell in love with Kentucky because of its rolling hills, green pastures, water supply, ability to fish and hunt and to get back to nature. The farm was originally owned by relatives of the current neighbors. Tobacco was primarily grown on the farm but during World War 2 the farm was used to grow hemp. The hemp was used for ropes and clothes for the soldiers and military to help with the war effort. Later years different breeds of cattle were grazed and the hemp fields were turned to hay. Currently the hay on the farm is cut, baled and used by our neighbors for their cattle which are nearby. With the lack of cattle grazing on the farm has allowed the woods and non-hay area to grow. By having more woods and cover has increased the number of deer, turkey, rabbits and other wildlife allowing them to flourish. The now cabin is the actual tobacco barn used for decades to hang and dry the tobacco after harvesting. The cabin, stock barn and chicken coop were built with lumber cut from the farm itself. We love our little cabin and farm and we are sure you will too.
John Barca purchased this Cabin in 2009

Beautiful place to get away and enjoy nature!
My husband and I spent our one year anniversary at this amazing property. With both of us working nonstop, this trip was just what we needed to escape from reality for the week. We were also able to bring our dogs and they also loved the trip. I would recommend trying to find all 3 waterfalls on the property as they are a sight to see! The rolling hills, hay fields, and gorgeous creek are like something from a movie! The cabin is cute and quiet and stocked with everything you need. We hope to come back one day. Beautiful property!
This one of the most beautiful property I've ever seen, especially for those who love nature.

amazing Kentucky cabin
My family and I rented the property from Aug 4th to Aug 8th. We truly had a wonderful time. It was just what we needed to get recharged in our lives and allowed us to take a break from the Internet, Social Media, etc. We enjoyed exploring the 64 acres of land with this property, which included a creek, small waterfalls, fire pit, etc. We saw hummingbirds outside our window as well as a couple of deer too! I would definitely recommend this property to others.
