Relaxing weekend in the mountains!

"We were excited to get away with family and friends for a long weekend, and this was the perfect spot! Upon driving up to the house, we were struck by its expansive rocking chair porches and gorgeous natural environment. Inside, the house was spacious, extremely clean, well-equipped, and overall very comfortable for our 2 families. The owners have thought of EVERYTHING--from board games and Pop-A-Shot (which was my husband's obsession for the weekend!) to clean, high quality linens and bedding. We stayed downstairs, where it was so peaceful--at night, our favorite part was to open up the windows and fall asleep to the sounds of the mountains at night. During the day, we loved having a cup of coffee or cold beer on the screened porch and just enjoying the breeze and company!"

Why Yonder chose Blue Ridge Mountains

We love so many things about this house and its location and hope you will too! It is secluded and feels like a tree house in the country, but it’s just 15 minutes or less from the Blue Ridge Parkway, downtown Asheville, and Black Mountain. The large, open living room, dining room and kitchen makes the house a wonderful spot for gathering with family or friends. Our favorite thing about the house is the outdoor space. Sitting in a rocking chair on the front porch looking out at the mountains and trees and enjoying the sounds of nature is the ultimate in relaxation. We love being able to experience all 4 seasons in Asheville, and we hope that you will have an opportunity to experience different seasons there.

What makes this house unique

This house is a warm, open family style retreat that has enough space indoors and outdoors to allow privacy for individuals, couples, or separate families vacationing together. Located in a quiet neighborhood, the property provides privacy but is only a short drive to all the great activities and tourist attractions such as hiking, restaurants, breweries, the Biltmore, cultural activities, and shopping. The wood-burning fireplace and cedar ceiling in the living room provide a cozy mountain atmosphere, and the living room has two sets of glass doors that open to the large front porch which allows you to feel like you are outside even when you’re inside.

Relaxing weekend in the mountains!

  • 5 of 5

We were excited to get away with family and friends for a long Labor Day weekend, and this was the perfect spot! During the day, we loved having a cup of coffee or cold beer on the screened porch and just enjoying the breeze and company!

The surrounding area is perfect for exploring. On Saturday, we took the kids to the Western NC Nature Center--what a hidden gem! So many animals, trails, and educational activities--the toddlers LOVED it, we spent several hours there and had a picnic lunch on site. After nap time, we went over to Highland Brewery for beer tasting and live music on the lawn, which was a terrific way for the whole family to unwind after a busy day. The "meadows" at Highland have plenty of room for kids to romp and explore in a safe area. On Sunday, we checked out the super cute town of Black Mountain, which is only 10-15 minutes away. We walked around the downtown area, shopped, bought a few early Christmas presents, explored the old train, and then had lunch at a little deli/grille with outdoor seating (a necessity for little kids, in my opinion!) Great day...

When we weren't out exploring, we were enjoying down-time at the house. We couldn't have asked for a better experience for Labor Day weekend... Highly recommend Blue Ridge Retreat! We will definitely be back!

Mountain Retreat Swannanoa - great place for a weekend getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for three nights as we were attending a wedding at Hidden River Events. Great location and we loved the layout of the house. The landscaping and fauna and flora were a delight this time of the year. The house was extremely well stocked and the owners went above and beyond offering little extras that rental houses do not typically offer (tin foil, trash bags, dishwasher soap etc. etc.) Yonder did a great job in communicating on directions, check-in, check out and other details. Asheville is only 20 minutes away. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Excellent property in a convenient location.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for the weekend with a group of friends. We spent one day/night at the house enjoying the amenities, cooking and playing games. It was easy enough for us to go into town the next night.

We highly enjoyed the location and house itself. Would stay again.

Awesome!

  • 5 of 5

This home was the perfect retreat for our 16-person Asheville weekend! The huge kitchen was a welcome place to hang out, eat food, and cook for everyone each morning. We appreciated the coffee maker and the freedom to use any of the pots/pans and dishes and sliverware. There were PLENTY of beds (2 of us did sleep on a blow-up mattress, and we were happy to bring our own sheets) and bathrooms for everyone to use. The views while in the house are wonderful and the downstairs room would be great for a group of kids. We all enjoyed the basketball game and corn hole, too! An Uber ride is only about 20 minutes from the house to downtown Asheville which was a big reason for us booking this home for our getaway. I'd highly recommend this house to a group of families with kids. It worked great for all of us 20 & 30 somethings, too!

Beautiful - recommend!

  • 4 of 5

My friends and I stayed at this house for a bachelorette weekend and we LOVED it. The house and views are beautiful! It was easy to get to and not too far from downtown Asheville. There is TONS of room for everyone to spread out. The kitchen was nicely stocked (coffee AND filters!). The bed linens and towels were VERY high quality, which we were quite impressed by. The property management company was very accommodating when we ran into inclement weather on our check out day. The driveway is VERY steep and with the 4-5 inches of snow, we were worried about being able to get out on time. The property management company assured us that we could stay as long as we needed to in order to feel comfortable to leave and that was greatly appreciated. The 2 car garage was a HUGE bonus for the bad weather.

The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the oven seemed to cook at a much higher temperature than normal (we burned some cinnamon rolls) and we didn't have enough hot water for showers. We had 9 girls that needed to shower and quite a few were cut short because the water was so cold. All in all, I would definitely recommend this house to friends and family!

Perfectly named Blue Ridge Retreat

  • 5 of 5

Our extended family of 8(plus a toddler) stayed here over Christmas and thoroughly enjoyed the house. It is located high enough to offer an amazing view( at least in the winter--it might be not as expansive other seasons) yet very close to Tunnel Road( SR 70) and Ingles grocery store. Three bedrooms upstairs and one plus a bonus sleeping area downstairs. The kitchen is large and fully stocked with dishes and cooking utensils.

The front porch is very nice. The house is in a neighborhood, but seems secluded at the same time as the houses are not right on top of each other, affording maximum enjoyment with relative privacy.
