We are retired living in Marietta GA. We bought the property in October of 2014 as a vacation destination and an investment. We spent 8 months working to bring it up to our standards of comfort and appeal, doing most of the work ourselves. Everett is the remodeling expert, Katie is the landscape and interior designer, and photographer. We hope our visitors will enjoy the cabin as much as we do.
Katie Price purchased this cabin in 2014
We were charmed by this home the first time we saw it. Having been built in the early 20th century, it is much older than the subdivision that was developed around it in the '30s and '40s.
It is close to the Jacksonville airport, 3 minutes off of I-95, 15 minutes from downtown, Everbank Field, and riverfront attractions. The beach is only a 30 minute drive. Yet when you reach the cabin, you feel you're away from it all. Views of the Ribault (REE-bawt) River from most rooms. Across the river is tidal marsh filled with birds; manatees and dolphins can be seen from time to time. Heavy woods beyond the marsh make the property feel very private. Observing the ebb and flow of the tide gives you an ever-changing view. There are even two crab traps! Fishing off of the dock does not require a state license.
NOTE: There is a second house on the property which is leased to a nice, quiet young couple. They have a small dog that stays inside most of the time. We think we have provided sufficient privacy between the houses that you shouldn't find things uncomfortable. Becoming vacation home owners and landlords at the same time was an interesting experience.
Secluded location. Charming log cabin interior. Large private, fenced yard. Excellent boating and fishing destination. Great for kayaking and paddleboarding in the marshes at high tide. Property includes covered double boat dock with two 10,000 lb. boat lifts, fish cleaning station, and kayak/canoe launch site. Public boat ramp 1/4-mi upriver, 40 minutes by boat to the ocean, 25 minutes to downtown Jacksonville where boaters can tie up almost anywhere. Watching sunsets from either of the decks or the dock is a very special experience!
My Jacksonville family gathered at this wonderful log cabin house on the beautiful Trout River to celebrate Christmas together, a 10 day stay.We are from Maryland. The cabin is larger than the pics show, beautiful inside and out! Very homey and comfortable in warm and cold temps! The Prices are generous with stocking the cabin w all you need. They also create a loving environment that is clean and upscale with their personal touches! All conveniences, easy and iimmediate communications. We had 2 small dogs that enjoyed the large yard that is fenced to the outer perimeter and bordered by the river! We enjoyed firepit, fireplace, outdoor decks, covered and lit fishing on the pier, caught a 3lb red drum! Happiest of places near 95 and accessible to beaches. Prices even decorated for Christmas for us! WE LOVED our stay greatly. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
The cabin was amazing! It was so peaceful and relaxing. My husband spent a lot of time fishing and crabbing. We really enjoyed sitting by the fire pit at night. The decor is so quaint and cozy and the kitchen had everything we could possibly need. We will be back.
If you want to relax and enjoy the view this is the place to be. The sunset was breathtaking every evening. The owners are very gracious and considerate, the home was well supplied with everything you need. I look forward to coming again and definitely recommend this place.
This adorable riverfront retreat was quaint, clean, and well stocked with anything you could possibly need. The owners were easy to work with and did a great job decorating this older cabin and accentuating the property's best feature.... The riverfront! The outdoor area is wonderful! My father spent the entire time we were there out on the dock! The fish weren't biting but he still enjoyed being out on the water.
Don't be put off by the little drive through the neighborhood that adjoins the property. We were at first, but found this place to be a perfect restful retreat and will certainly try to rent it the next time we are in Jacksonville!
This was the perfect place for us to relax and getaway. The cabin is clean, organized and very cozy. It has a charm all its own. The views on the river in the morning and evening are breathtaking. It's very evident that Katie and Everett love this place because of the time and effort they put into decorating and adding their personal touch. We felt as though we were staying in a relatives home because it was so comfortable. I would definitely recommend this getaway to family and friends!
Katie and Everett have made this little spot the ultimate family getaway. We were in Jacksonville for a family wedding and for our little family
this was soooo much better than a hotel. There was plenty of room, fun fishing and crabbing, cooking out and enjoying the deck on the river.
We couldn't have asked for a better place. There wasn't a single thing we didn't have. The family even played bocci ball and we had a fire and made smores
for our 2 year old grandson and some family visiting from China.
If we ever need to go to Jacksonville, we would not hesitate to stay again!

There is a second house on the property occupied by leased tenants. They are very quiet and keep to themselves. We expect you will respect their privacy, and their access to the property.
