About Bill Day

If you want to know the long story of how we chose Meadows of Dan you will have to go to Laurel Point Villa (vrbo.com/94527) and read about how we bought that house in 2005. This year the family got larger with the addition of Todd and Caroline's daughter and we decided that if Joey and Kali and their two children all came at the same time, we would need more room. We've met so many nice people that have rented from us, it makes more sense to build another place rather than remodeling and having one house that could sleep a dozen or more.

Bill Day purchased this cottage in 2015

Why Bill Day chose Meadows of Dan

Laurel Point Cottage shares a similar view of the big house. Like the Villa it is close to the Parkway, Chateau Morrisette, Villa Appalachia, and Floyd. It will allow smaller groups to be able to afford the peacefulness and beauty provided by our big house.

What makes this cottage unique

Bill backpacked for over 30 years in the Southern Appalachians and the view from the Laurel Point Compound is in his top 5 views. Tops the pull outs on the Blue Ridge Parkway as well as Lover's Leap. Watch storms, leaves changing, birds etc. while on your deck. No need to go anywhere else except maybe the wineries.

Views, views, views so awesome! Beautiful cottage so well planned & constructed. High end everything & so well appointed in every respect. Want to return when weather is better.

Our favorite mountain cabin!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for our second time. We love this cozy little cabin so much. The views are spectacular and very convenient to things around town. My favorite part is always the heated floors...can’t beat that! Bill is always super accommodating and provides you with everything you need :)

Magical Place

  • 5 of 5

In the mountains you can have many types of weather. We did. And sitting on the beautiful deck or , when too cold, viewing through the wall of glass was incredible. Well appointed and the 100 plus year old wormy chestnut finished off the well decorated home.

Breathtaking

  • 5 of 5

The owner is not leasing accommodation, they are sharing the beauty and magic of this slice of heaven nestled in the mountains of Virginia. Further words would not do the property justice, do yourself a favour and experience it for yourself.

Dramatic views

  • 5 of 5

i absolutely loved the cottage. The views are out of this world. The setting is serene, no sounds other than the wind. It is so beautiful you will not want to leave. The owner is great and supplies the renter with terrific information on the surrounding area. The cottage itself is beautifully furnished and has everything you need for the stay. Do your shopping before checking in and you won't regret it.

Pictures and words can't really do this cottage justice... you have to feel it for yourself!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a wonderful time, here. The cottage is beautifully detailed and maintained. And the view is amazing. There was no such thing as "bad weather" during our stay--we watched thunderstorms roll through, rainbows form and go, spent time encased in a cloud, and of course saw the mountains stretch for miles in the sunshine.

Birds, bees, butterflies, and bats were daily (or nightly) entertainment. It was so peaceful that our dog didn't even bark!

This was the perfect spot to relax and hang out as a family before sending our daughter off to college. I'm already checking the calendar for a date to return!
