About Bill Day

If you want to know the long story of how we chose Meadows of Dan you will have to go to Laurel Point Villa (vrbo94527) and read about how we bought that house in 2005. This year the family got larger with the addition of Todd and Caroline's daughter and we decided that if Joey and Kali and their two children all came at the same time, we would need more room. We've met so many nice people that have rented from us, it makes more sense to build another place rather than remodeling and having one house that could sleep a dozen or more.

Bill Day purchased this cottage in 2015

Why Bill Day chose Blue Ridge Highlands

Laurel Point Cottage shares a similar view of the big house. Like the Villa it is close to the Parkway, Chateau Morrisette, Villa Appalachia, and Floyd. It will allow smaller groups to be able to afford the peacefulness and beauty provided by our big house.

What makes this cottage unique

Bill backpacked for over 30 years in the Southern Appalachians and the view from the Laurel Point Compound is in his top 5 views. Tops the pull outs on the Blue Ridge Parkway as well as Lover's Leap. Watch storms, leaves changing, birds etc. while on your deck. No need to go anywhere else except maybe the wineries.

Best Blue Ridge Getaway

  • 5 of 5

You will not find a view as majestic as the one from the back porch of this cottage anywhere else. The cabin is a work of art, my Fiance and I did not want to leave. Bill was very accommodating, he gave excellent advise on where to visit (restaurants, towns, grocery stores, landmarks, sites, etc). We are absolutely going back.

Amazing views!

  • 5 of 5

Bill is the best!!!! Even though we only came for a wedding, Bill gave us a great list of places to see and what to do in the area. Thanks, Bill for being a wonderful host!

The view from the porch is breathtaking! The cabin is comfortable and well appointed. Beds are comfortable, too!

This is our new go-to for a vacation in the mountains! Cant say enough about this slice of heaven in the mountains!

A little slice of heaven

  • 5 of 5

Birdsong, blue ridges as far as the eye can see, night skies full of stars and stunning sunrises. What a special place. The cottage is so comfy, great bedrooms but the living space and back porch are what this place is about. We loved it. The owner Bill is so helpful and friendly. We had a wonderful stay

Need not look any further

  • 5 of 5

Just spent five incredible nights at this cabin. So much attention to detail was put into the building of, and decorating the inside and outside the cabin. The beds were super comfortable and having two full bathrooms is very convenient when having two couples in the cabin. We really loved the large seamless glass shower. We didn't eat out much, so we took advantage of the fully stocked kitchen. Word of caution though, after experiencing this kitchen, you will be looking to renovate your own. The only place we went to eat was the crooked cafe. It was OK. If you have a sweet tooth, you must visit Nancy's candy. Fudge heaven!!!! You also get to see them make the candy through a window. Last but not the least.... the view!!!! You will not get enough of it. Because it was very cold up there, we did not get to spend much time on the back deck sitting on the beautiful furniture, but the view is just as good sitting on the couch, with the fire going and the floor nice and toasty. Make sure you use the directions Bill gives you. Your GPS may take you a different direction that you definitely don't want to take. Since I had a 4x4 Jeep, I ventured down the other road. Trust me, use his directions. Thanks Bill for the use of your cabin and it was a pleasure talking to you.
