About: My wife and I moved to Bear Lake about 5 years ago and started Bear Lake Cabin Rentals about 4 years ago. We love the Bear Lake area. The lake is such a beautiful blue and the area is so nice and charming. The winters can be cold but they are so peaceful and uncongested. It is a great place to get away from the busy city life.
Why Garden City:
We enjoy managing properties for people and not only building a relationship with the owners but all the great guest that stay with us. We have a lot of people that come back year after year to enjoy all that Bear Lake has to offer
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
During the summer months there are tons of great outdoor activities. You can visit the Minnetonka Cave and there are tons of hiking and biking trails. A huge beautiful lake for boating, water skiing and wake boarding. In the winter Beaver Mountain is just 15 minutes up the canyon and is an undiscovered treasure for the ski or snowboard enthusiast. There are hundreds of miles of terrain for snowmobiling and some great sledding hills too.
Our family spent three nights between Christmas and New Year's Eve here. We had 30 people stay. The view is wonderful. We had good bedrooms and space for us. The staff that helped us book was exceptional. They were very friendly every time I called with questions. The problems were: One mattress sunk to the middle (in room of 2 queens). The bar stools were not sturdy at all and dangerous for little kids. And definitely blinds of some kind need to be put up in bedrooms, especially for small children. The family room downstairs was cold, but we did find an electric heater and that helped.
We were fairly close to snowmobiling and sleigh riding areas. Little kids could sleigh ride just outside the door. Interestingly enough, all but six of us got flu like symptoms the second day within a couple of hours of each other. We hadn't been together until that first night. We did have fun and "yes" I would recommend it to others if those few items were fixed.
We had an awesome time. Total of 17 people with baby and were very comfortable. Home is adorable, beautifully decorated and was well stocked with kitchen amenities, etc. Able to cook a big Thanksgiving dinner. (Only one oven so brought a roaster from home.) The home was not as clean as should have been. The comforters were not washed and there were fresh food stains on them. There were plenty of clean comforters and blankets in closets. Floors had not been mopped. Food debri had been left under toe kick of kitchen counters. Bathroom rugs were dirty and had not been freshly washed. Carpet was new, had been vacuumed and appeared clean; however under beds had not been vacuumed or under chairs, etc. There was more food, popcorn kernels, banana string, etc. Windows had not been cleaned either. Cleaners referred to themselves as OCD Cleaners; however they are definitely not! Home should have been pristine. They were very occomidating and had we told them of the cleaning issues, they probably would have sent someone up to clean properly. There were at minimum 15 air freshener plugins located throughout house. Odor was very strong and caused major allergies with every family member. Had there only been two or three may have been pleasant, but with 15 was overwhelming, causing immediate headaches and sinus issues. (We unplugged all that could be located, placing them in a open bin in garage.)
It was a family vacation with 4 families staying together. The layout, bedrooms, and bathrooms worked well for us. Each family had their own rooms and bathroom. The community pool, hot tub, tennis, and basketball courts were really nice. The only thing we would have like better were for the bedrooms to have some type of window covering. They aren't needed for privacy but would be nice to keep out some of the sunlight, especially in the early morning. Otherwise it was a nice home with a great view of the lake.
