Why Kelly Kilfoil chose Mt. Hood, The Gorge

We fell in love with Parkdale the first time we went there! It is a darling town with access to so many outdoor activities (or for just relaxing!). We spent the last ten years renovating the home so that we can spend more time there, and share it with others. Going to Parkdale is truly an escape, and is like stepping back in time. We take great pride in the work we put into renovating the home to make it cozy and comfortable and inviting. We also made sure that you can always take advantage of the absolutely incredible view of Mt Hood. When you see the view of Mt Hood it will take your breath away. We also loved that this house still had a lot of its original character (or we worked hard to bring back that character). From the clawfoot tub to the original kitchen cabinets, it is a wonderful Craftsman home with the conveniences of modern living. We added a sunroom to the back of the house so that you could enjoy the view any time! You can easily drive up to the mountain to go skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, hiking, biking etc! You can also take a short drive into Hood River to go eat, shop, get coffee, windsurf, kayak, you name it!!

What makes this house unique

Ideal location for many activities. Also wonderful for attending weddings in the area. Great home for a small family or group.

Fantastic Mt Hood Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Really enjoyed our stay at the Parkdale Getaway! Property was clean, well equipped and very child friendly. Our family of four spent Christmas here and the "homey" feel, coupled with awesome mountain views, made for an excellent holiday vacation. Parkdale is a very small town but does have a grocery store, which is convenient. We'd definitely recommend the property and stay again on future skiing trips! Thanks Kelly for sharing your home with us!

  • 5 of 5

Truly fantastic home in Parkdale, OR. Clear attention to detail from an owner that treats this home like their own. Super clean, nice amenities, amazing views! The house is adjacent to an orchard, which gives superior views to Mt Hood and surrounding scenery. Perfect launch point for Cooper Spur and Meadows for a family getaway. Really awesome. Thanks for sharing your home, we will be back.

Gorgeous full view of Mt Hood right from your deck!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at this house. The view was spectacular. The house was clean and had everything we needed. We also enjoyed the local restaurants withing walking distance. The house is centrally located between the Columbia River Gorge and Hood River, and Mt Hood, Timberline Lodge, Ski Bowl, and Government Camp area. There were lots of different things to do that were a short scenic drive away. We enjoyed hiking during the day, and sitting on the deck in the evenings watching the colors change on Mt Hood as the sun went down.

Beautiful view, great hiking, sweet town

  • 5 of 5

We loved the fantastic view of Mt. Hood; our only complaint is that we couldn't bring it home. The property is also equipped with really high-grade touches, like blinds that are easy to operate and shut out most of the light; top-of-the-line dishware; and an awesome blender. The owner was very responsive to our questions before arrival. This property is in the town of Parkdale, which is about 3 blocks long and has at least two really decent places to eat (the tavern and the BBQ place; we didn't get to the third). Hood River Valley is full of fruit stands. Best for us was terrific day hiking in the Mt. Hood National Forest, including access to the Pacific Crest Trail. Try the Twin Lakes Trail if you can only do one. I returned feeling very relaxed and magically touched by Mt. Hood and the amazing old growth forest trails.

Beautiful views and great location!

  • 5 of 5

This home was everything we hoped it would be. We had beautiful views of Mount Hood & a great home base for us to explore the area - the fruit orchards, the wineries, the waterfalls, lakes, hikes, Timberline lodge, etc. The home had everything we needed for meals that we had together.

As others have commented, we enjoyed the convenience of the town grocery store (a block away).

Thanks for the opportunity. We hope to return.

Our home is located in the heart of Mt Hood Parkdale, Oregon. It is a small, quaint town with an historic ice cream store, an excellent local BBQ restaurant, and a friendly grocery store. It is the last stop for the Mt Hood Railroad and we have the most magnificent view of Mt Hood in our backyard! We are located 15 miles south of the fabulous and vibrant town of Hood River, and 15 miles north of amazing skiing, hiking, and other outdoor activities all over Mt Hood.
