Our Main Home is a contemporary 3 Bed/3 Bath Cabin-like House that sleeps a maximum of 8 guests.

OPTIONS

a) If you have up to 8 GUESTS, simply reserve the Main House.

b) If you have 8 GUESTS and wish to have bedrooms for everyone, then reserve the Main House AND the Guest House.

c) If you have 10 GUESTS, reserve BOTH houses.

Guests will have access to the entire 2300sf Main Home and 3/4 acre garden.

*THE MAIN HOUSE GUESTS HAVE EXCLUSIVE USAGE OF THE POOL, JACUZZI, FIREPIT.

The Guest House is a separate 450 sf residence with separate living room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom. It has a separate entrance and its own private sitting area and BBQ area should it be occupied by other guests.

We are Close to Lake Hodges, Safari Park and 20 minutes to Coast . It is just 30 minutes from downtown San Diego. Tastefully Furnished. Gourmet Kitchen, Pool/Jacuzzi/Outdoor Firepit/Private Gardens. We have Mountain Views and we are very close to Lake Hodges where you can enjoy Hiking, Mountain Biking, Fishing and Picnicking.

Each bedroom have their own bathrooms and the Master Suite is extremely spacious. Reduced pricing for 3 nights+

This home is a labor of love and 22 years in the making! Sue & I have raised our two daughters here and in 2014 finally finished the renovations. We have turned it into the contemporary home we envisioned when we bought the property in 1991 and yet it has all the charm of a home well lived in! Despite being in a semi-desert locale, our home is an oasis - it is a well established natural and green habitat. The "back 40" is a fun place for the kids to explore, grab an orange and meet the neighbors horses!

There is parking for at least 6 cars.

About Peter Ritchie

OUR STORY

Sue and I met in 1979 when I was traveling through California on my way to New Zealand to visit my parents. I had been away from home for 4 years attending University in Belfast, N. Ireland. I hitch-hiked from San Francisco and met a fellow Englishman who was visiting his girl-friend in Los Angeles. She turned out to be Sue's friend "Apple" and in a blind date scenario I met my future wife at Santa Monica beach. We married in 1981 and moved to New Zealand where our two daughters, Katie & Tessa were born. We moved back to California in 1991 and have lived in our home since 1993.

Besides New Zealand and Australia, we have traveled to many places in the USA and also England, France, Spain, Italy, Turkey and Greece. We also love to visit Kauai as often as we can !

We are both healthy people who enjoy exercising and sports but also great local Mexican food, craft beers and local wine. I played soccer extensively but have now found a love for LAWN BOWLS. I plan to have my own lawn bowl green in the back 40 in the near future where guests can enjoy a great social game with family and friends!

Sue & I have stayed in a variety of vacation rental homes/B&B's and always enjoy the stories from our fellow travelers - we hope we will have a chance to hear yours!

This was a great property for our children to grow up in. They loved the spaciousness of the grounds and climbed just about every tree in it to the top! We saw the potential to modernize the house and started the first project with a pool in 1996. Since then and multiple projects later, we can honestly say it has been a "labor of love" and one we hope you will enjoy too during your stay.

What makes this house unique

Our home is located on a cozy seven house street that gets its name from Tanya and Tamara (the two daughters of the original street developer.) All the neighbors are very friendly and they are a good mixture of long-time and mid-time residents. We have slowly risen to be the longest tenured residents on the street but do not be afraid to knock on a neighbor's door for any assistance during your stay - they are that helpful!

Notes:
Guests will have access to the entire 2300 sf home and 3/4 acre garden. We do have an on-site 'host' Rick, (separate living house, separate entrance, etc) Rick will do all he can to make sure you are well taken care of, if I am unable to get to the property in any emergency situation. There are two outside seating areas that guests will have access to - pool and side yard.

Holiday in paradise!

This was our second Christmas staying in Peter’s beautiful home. Everything is incredibly well appointed and thought out, and Peter was impressively responsive and checked up to make sure everything was to our liking. The addition of the beach equipment was such a lovely touch since our last visit. We can’t wait to stay there again!

Loved It!!

Fantastic Location, House and Grounds

We wanted a nice house in the Escondido area for a family extended weekend trip. We were looking for a place that was near the breweries/ wineries and also near the Wild Animal Park and could comfortably hold six adults. It also had to have a nice outdoors area for relaxing. This place fit that perfectly!

We really enjoyed the patio, pool and spa for evening relaxing and watching the beautiful sunsets. We barbequed one night and the BBQ and kitchen was everything that we could have wanted. The bedrooms were spacious and each couple had their own bathrooms. The girls went for lunch, massages and spa treatments at Rancho Bernardo Resort, which was less than 6 miles away.

If you are looking for a great space to stay while visiting the Escondido area, we highly recommend this place!

Lovely home with beautiful landscaping and pool that will make you want to stay longer. Close to mall, grocery store and parks. When we return to California again, we will book this home again!

Our home is conveniently situated only 30 minutes to downtown San Diego, 20 minutes to the Coast, 15 minutes to the San Diego Safari Park, 5 minutes to Interstate 15 and Westfield Mall and 2 minutes to beautiful Lake Hodges where you can hike, bike, kayak, boating and fish.

If you enjoy craft beer, you must take a tour and a sample a pint of your favorite at the Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens. They also host family movie nights during the week in the summer time. If a glass of Chardonnay is your preference, visit Orfila Winery - both Stone & Orfila are only minutes away.

If you like to skateboard, the internationally renowned Escondido Skate Park is just 5 minutes away and while the kids are skating, you can visit the amazing Nikki de Saint Phalle's "Queen Califia's Magical Circle" in Kit Carson Park. VisitEscondido.com for events, dining, arts, etc.
