Awesome house and location!

  • 4 of 5

The house and location are the best VRBO we have stayed in. Comfortable and well equipped. Loved hearing the trains and watching the river and wildlife--many birds (including a bald eagle), skunks, deer. A few negatives: living room rugs and one upholstered chair were dirty, but rest of the house was spotless, glasses in short supply (don't like plastic), poor supply of toilet paper (one bathroom had 3 sheets), gas barbecue was very small. Be aware that there is no sizable grocery store nearby so bring food. Wonderful place for fishing, hiking, biking and sitting on the well designed deck. Weather was hot in the afternoon, but very pleasant mornings, evenings and overnight. Short drive to Mount Shasta and surrounding attractions.

Quiet oasis on the river

  • 5 of 5

If your going to Dunsmuir for any stay, this is a lovely place to stay away from the crowd. It has 3 beds with baths and sits right on the river. It doesn't have Internet and tv is lame, so prepare to interact with the other humans along on the trip. It has a large great room for everyone to gather and fantastic decks descending to the river. We have stayed there twice and enjoyed both stays. Next time I want to meet the neighbors. And, if your coming with kids make sure you go to the lake ,it's beautiful with Mount Shasta looming above.

Girls Weekend done Right!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time and so enjoyed the house! It was great to have all the extra room and the open concept for cooking and still being able to visit. The kitchen well appointed, everything clean and ready. It's a lovely deck to sit out on...even in the rain! Only one small thing is the mattress covers are too big for the twin beds so get very rumpled up underneath you. We will come and again and would recommend!

Beautiful place on the raging river during high water which lulled us to sleep each night. The train was background music and we loved it. Several challenges with the house however: lock box did not work and had to wait for key, had to turn off cold water in kitchen due to leak under the sink, fireplace smokes terribly, both queen beds had deteriorated mattresses, and the house needs a general good cleaning inside and out but we know that this winter has been brutal. We tried to contact owner/manager several ways before arriving with cancellation questions because of epic storms predicted and the possibility of flooding, there are different cancellation policies between the inquiry site online and the rental contract, no clear definition of policy and no reply to our inquiry. Luckily the trip turned out to be wonderful despite everything else and the weather cleared for the drive home. At the cost for the rental however the house should have internet access.
