Originally from Toronto, Canada and Warwick Rhode Island, we reside in Colorado and Costa Rica.
June Hutchison purchased this house in 2015
We bought this house as our second home because it is clean, modern and has all of the amenities we're used to. We're spoiled, so why would our vacation home be any less?
We fell in love with the Oasis in the back yard. The 12 foot hibiscus hedge gives you absolute privacy. The palm trees and other lush tropical plants and flowers give our private pool a surrounding that is so peaceful. When you lay in the warm water on a float in the evening the stars over head are incredible. There is no light pollution and you can see the milky way with your naked eye while hearing the waves crash down on the beach.
This was our 1st time using VRBO, and we are happy to report that June and Gary set the bar high. They were communicative, helpful, and informative, and the property was lovely. The house and pool itself is as described on the website: clean and well-maintained. The only trouble we had was with security (there was a transition in management happening as we took our trip, so we had some issues upon arrival and the next day; but they were resolved quickly, and we suspect it'd no longer be an issue given that our trip was month's ago). The neighborhood of Casa del Sol is safe, and the neighbors are very friendly. There's a good soda to eat at nearby. The beach is also nearby and feels private. We would recommend this property and would be happy to stay there again.
Why on earth would you stay in a hotel, when you can stay at a wonderful house like this? Staying in a hotel is like staying the night at Wal-Mart... let that sink in...
Seeing as I am a little behind in the number of positive reviews, let me make this short and simple. Have you ever tried telling somehow how awesome something is, but you know can't explain it, and even if you could they would never really get it because they didn't experience it? Well this is like that. The only part that isn't fun about this house, is all the time you spent looking at other houses or places to stay at online, when you could have just started right here. So do yourself a favor, and just stop. Stop right here, and go stay here.
My wife and I stayed here for our 5th wedding anniversary. The second best part about staying here (other than the house itself and the owners) is the number of different things to do and see no matter what you like. There is even a world class sky diving place not far from the house. Not to mention volcanoes, rain forest, water falls, crazy good food, surfing, beach activities, horse back riding, night life, a movie theater (if you have small kids you know how much you don't go in those much anymore), and even a couple places to get some good gelato. When you aren't doing any of those and more, you're relaxing in a super nice, clean, fully furnished and prepped house, just like it was your own.... with a pool!! (FYI, hardly anyone, or anywhere in CR has a pool that you will have all to yourself), 100yds from one of the best beaches in the world... yes, we've seen and been to a lot of beaches. When we come back, we know that there is more than enough space to bring the kids and grandparents as well. So go spend some time trying to get the cheapest flight, or rental car, etc., and rest easy knowing that you picked THE BEST place to take your vacation in CR.
This home is stunning! With gorgeous furniture, a great layout, and beautiful pool and gardens, it was the perfect getaway for my girls' trip this year. We felt completely safe and had access to all of the best beaches, restaurants, and local beach bars that we needed. The owners were extremely helpful and responsive giving us suggestions of where to eat, what to do and easy directions for how to get there. I would stay there again in a heartbeat. It was truly perfect.
The house is amazing in its welcoming spirit and openness. The backyard pool and lush landscape is a wonderful retreat to have your morning coffee, anytime swim or a cocktail. The safe environment of the community and its proximity to Playa Bejuco and surrounding beach towns is perfect. June and Gary left detailed information about shopping, restaurants and travel that was very helpful. Can't say enough. We had a difficult time leaving!
Everything about this house is awesome - clean and spacious! The pool was fantastic and the plants and landscaping add to the serene, relaxing surroundings. My family spent Christmas in Costa Rica - mainly staying in the central Pacific area. The house accommodated us well and was well furnished with so many things to make our stay easier (beach toys, bikes, grills, beach bags, beach towels).
June provided so much information - on the house, how to get there, eating recommendations, sightseeing tour recommendations. Nothing was overlooked and everything was spot on. She even included a recipe for sweet plantains and the best place to buy, well, everything!
There are so many restaurants in the area - and June recommends quite a few - each meal was incredible. We found a few places of our own and every meal was just amazing!
We rented a car from Economy - and were very pleased with the rental experience. June recommended adding a Waze app to our phone (and we rented wifi for the car) - which really came in handy (since there are no street signs). We took a snorkeling/sunset cruise, aerial tram tour, parasailing, Rafa's monkey tour and explored a lot of communities in the area - all well worth it, and wish we could have done more.
The Costa del Sol community is so friendly and helpful and the beach was fantastic!
We were a family of 4 ranging in age from 20 to 90. There is enough to do to accommodate all ages and abilities (and we only hit one portion of Costa Rica). Can't say enough about the experience and highly recommend it!! Hope to be able to go back again some day.
The house is wonderful. It looks exactly as it is shown in the pictures and it was very comfortable and clean. The description is right on. My favorite part of the whole trip were the daily breakfasts by the pool, sipping coffee and eating Panetone with great friends.
This was my first trip to Costa Rica and I had a blast. I went with friends and we occupied all three bedrooms. Even though I ended up with the smaller room (two double beds), I was very satisfied. June and Gary (but esp. June) were very helpful and gave us detailed information on how to get to the property from the airport and what to do/not to do.
The community is amazing. There are many Americans and Canadians and they welcomed us with open arms and invited us to a Thanksgiving feast. Approx. 60 people attended! The property is one level, and all bedrooms have walk-in showers.
We did spend one night in El Arenal, which is approx. 5h away, depending on the number of stops. Despite the drive time, I highly recommend a trip to El Arenal volcano and the waterfall rock climb. Manuel Antonio park itseld was ok. If you do go, make sure to get a guide. The beach at that location was amazing. I also enjoyed a day trip to Tortuga island.
Make sure to chose a rental car company that has the cars parked at the airport. We ended up with one (I forgot the name), and the rental cars were parked approx. 15 mins away from the airport, which doesn't seem like a big deal. However, we got seriously lost in San Jose, and none of the streets seem to have names. Fortunately, we found a very nice young couple who was willing to help.
Costa Rica is famous for their warm weather, wildlife, rain forests and beaches. Playa Bejuco has all of this within a short distance.
Enjoy zip lining, horse back riding on the beach or in the jungle, ATV adventures, monkey tours, great restaurants, expansive uncrowded beaches or lounge by our own private oasis swimming pool. Jaco is near by for those looking for Casino's or night life. Quepos has some of best sport fishing on the pacific. Manuel Antonio park is a destination for hikers and nature seekers. All are a short drive in either direction on a new stretch of highway (34).
