ABOUT THE NEIGHBORHOOD/LOCATION
-4 blocks from H Street ("The Atlas District") for great food and nightlife
-Capitol Hill is a village in a city: it's friendly, safe, great for families and professionals
-Walking distance to tons of great restaurants
-Easy access by walking, biking, bus or metro to the National Mall and downtown
TRANSPORTATION & PARKING
-BUS: The D6, a commuter bus, stops 2 blocks away. In minutes you are at Union Station and a few minutes more you are a few blocks from downtown
-METRO: Access to the red line or the green/yellow line are an 8 minute bike ride or 20 minute walk through a beautiful neighborhood.
-BIKE: A great way to get to the metro or around town is to rent a bike from one of the docking stations just steps outside our back door. You can park the bike at any of 110 locations around the city. We love the Capitol Bikeshare program and we provide a ton of directions and helpful info about the bikeshare program.
-CAR: parking is easy on our block because DC utilizes a permit system. When you provide us with your state and tag number we provide a temporary permit good for your stay, which allows you free parking on our street and anywhere on Capitol Hill.
THINGS TO NOTE
-If you are allergic to dogs and/or cats, this is not a place for you, as we have one of each. We would like to leave the cat at home while we are away; the dog will be away
-We renovated the entire house before we moved in last year. Everything is new inside.
-You can use the back entrance which opens onto an alley and a field. You can see the th Capitol Bikeshare station from the back of the house.
-Our cat, Little Rock, is indoor and outdoor, and very low maintenance. We'd love to leave him at home during your stay. (We have other arrangements for our dog).
-We have been hosting Airbnb guests in our basement suite since last year and have loved it. It's been great to help people enjoy their time in DC. We're putting the whole house (minus the basement suite) on Airbnb for the times that we will be away this summer.
-The house has a queen bed in the master bedroom and a twin bed in each of the kids bedrooms. 2 more kids could be accommodated on the floor of the kids rooms. We're happy to discuss further with you depending on your needs.

My two teenage daughters and I stayed for a week in this beautiful house in the historic district of DC. The house was lovely and well organized. The design choices are well thought through with the beautiful oak floors so well preserved and the open plan making it easy for socializing. The owners are very generous, providing coffee and other food staples, which really helped. Instructions were clear and the owners were reachable and responsive when needed. The cat was a special bonus! (Fortunately, one of us was not allergic!) The house is a bit far for easy access to the metro, however, so if you are not a walker, that is not ideal. We happened to be visiting at a very hot/humid time, which was challenging for walking. We were well served and expeditiously by Uber, however! Never waited more than 6 or 7 minutes and often less, so don't let that be a stopper, as the neighborhood is quite special. If you like to cook, this house has a great kitchen and is near to Eastern Market (great food!). A few things were not as clean as they could be (but I probably noticed that because we live in Germany where the standards are simply different). That aside: I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
