Great house, quite location. Friendly town.
Came to Maryland for the Ironman in Cambridge. This house was perfect and in a quite location food on the island was great. Friendly people.
So glad you enjoyed the house and all the island has to offer. Welcome back anytime.
Truly the Best Kept Secret By the Bay!!!
This is by far the most relaxing place my husband and I have visited for vacation! With a view of the Chesapeake Bay from the front of the property and the Honga River a short walk away it is truly a hidden Gem!! It is off the beaten path on Hooper's Island, MD-without the hustle and bustle of most vacation spots. It is a relaxing place to walk, watch birds, read a good book or just enjoy the tranquility and peaceful surroundings. The house is well kept and has everything you need to cook a few meals in to avoid eating out every night. The sunsets are second to none and the screened porch complete with chairs and a swing keep the bugs away to let you enjoy the views!! The owners John and Priscilla are easy to work with and even made us aware of a boat docking that was being held on another nearby island that was something we probably not have known about otherwise and turned out to be a very enjoyable day. There are a few crabbing bridges nearby as well as The Black Water Refuge which tells the story of the area and for history lovers there is the Harriet Tubman exhibit nearby. This was our second stay here at Best Kept and we hope to return again!!
So happy you enjoyed yourselves once again. You were stellar guests and we welcome you back anytime.
Home was very comfortable and well equipped. The pool table was a really nice add on. And the dock was great.
Great! Glad you had a good time. Always welcome back.
Very comfortable and well equipped home. Very clean and nicely furnished!
Hoopers Island provided the laid back and beautiful surroundings I was looking for. This home isn't waterfront but there is so much water everywhere that it felt like I was at the waters edge!
So glad you enjoyed your stay at the "best kept secret by the bay" .... Ya all come back soon. :)
Absolutely breathtaking and I said YES!!!
What a great time we had on Hoopers Island!! The house was absolutely gorgeous, plenty of space and surrounded by quiet neighbors and water galore!! The house had three bedrooms and two great couches, a pool table in a very open room and the kitchen had plenty of space. We had a screened in porch with rocking chairs and a swing to watch the sunset!!
We planned our vacation due to the fact that I was participating in the Eagleman Half Ironman in Cambridge, Maryland, which is 25 miles from the house. I didn't want to stay in a hotel as I like the amenities of a house..kitchen, stove, washer/dryer, etc!! The island is great with so much beautiful scenery..water..eagles..deer..osprey..birds..etc!!
The house is close to a general store, restaurant and has plenty of great roads for walking/running and biking. Everyone is down to earth and very nice! Cambridge is a great quaint town with wonderful food and rich heritage!!
And...Hooper's Island will always be a great place to me because my most special guy ask me to marry him while we were there!! And I said YES!!!
Congratulations on your engagement while watching the sunset by the Chesapeake on Hooper's Island. Also congrats for your participation in the Ironman. That sure is an amazing event to participate in and do as well as you did. I am so happy that you enjoyed the house and your stay on the island. You guys were stellar guests and are welcome back anytime.
Restful and Relaxing
The "Best Kept Secret" house was very nice, in good repair and beautifully decorated. The screened-in porch was good for rocking and relaxing. Priscilla and John gave us lots of good information about things to do--we ate dinner at Old Salty's, and it was excellent. The homeowners quickly responded to questions. The aspect of the house we enjoyed the most was the pool table. We played several games over our 4-night stay. The only thing that disappointed us was the location: the house is not located directly on Chesapeake Bay. From the online description we thought it was. We still had a restful, enjoyable stay. Many thanks to Priscilla and John!
We were so glad you enjoyed your stay at the house and all the island has to offer. I checked the map on the site and the pin location was shown correctly....across the little road from the bay. We do hope you had an opportunity to enjoy private dock on the riverside around the bend from the house.
Thank you so much for leaving our house in stellar condition. You were great guests and are welcome back any time!
Great place to de-stress in this Adult oriented home. A must do is to go across the Causeway and bridge to Lower Island. High speed wireless internet in house! Children over 12 are welcome!
