Overall this was our most favorite vacation! This particular unit is on the 4th floor and directly in the middle of the unit with a spiral staircase from its lanai to the rooftop sunning deck. The view was stunning! Upon arrival we were greeted on the rooftop by a local osprey who did not seem to mind when we entered. The unit was pleasantly decorated, and there was an adequate amount of kitchenware for our stay. VIP Rentals are a well oiled operation. Everything went smoothly. We arrived early afternoon and were able to get into the unit shortly after 2:30 pm. A couple items to note. The deadbolt on the entrance is tricky to lock and unlock. I mentioned it to the staff at VIP upon departure. You have to hold the handle down longer than home for the toilet to flush, and there is no stock of anything in the condo. Be prepared to buy salt & pepper, extra toilet paper and paper towels. They give you a starter pack of 4 dishwasher tabs, a small airplane size bottle of dish soap, several garbage bags, a roll of TP and a roll of PT. You get dish towels and dish cloths, and six towels, hand towels and wash cloths and a small bar of soap. The bedroom closet is locked and the closet in the bathroom has cleaning and maintenance items in it. So, you have to be creative if you want to hang your clothes. The unit was clean, but I could tell the housekeeper did minimal cleaning. We found children's under garments left behind in the TV console. Hair and dust on the ladies dresser, and the tub seemed permanently stained dirty. For the cleaning fee we were charged, I felt we left it cleaner than when we arrived. We were listening to music on the lanai one evening and security told us to turn it off and that music was not allowed due to the echo chamber effect of the units :( The pool area is small and fills up quickly during the day. I tried several times to go swimming but there was not enough chairs. The beach is extremely close to the complex and there is a shell washing station and outdoor shower to rinse off before going back to your unit. The grills are a convenience, but the flow of gas is regulated and therefore it takes a very long time to cook your food thoroughly. We rented bikes through one of the local rental places. The bikes were delivered before we arrived and were marked with our name and lock and key were provided. The biking is fabulous on this island. We each went 10 to 30 miles a day! It was a very nice unit, but not worth the price we paid.
Our February, 2016 stay here was pleasant, entirely stress-free and full of the things you go to Sanibel to enjoy. The condo accommodation is great for a couple . . . one really large bedroom, an equally spacious kitchen, plus a roomy living-dining area. Room to wander. But the bath facilities are tiny, tiny . . . no separate shower, just a sliding door bathtub/shower combo, with toilet almost a part of the tub. Cramped and very unappealing. Difficult to comfortably get in/out of the tub/shower. Clothes closet in the bathroom (!). A strange floor plan . . . just a little more space for bathroom would have made a great difference. Also, the top-floor units here have a spiral staircase to a rooftop space . . . if you're into private sunbathing, this would be perfect. But getting up there is a contortionist's job . . . and the ceiling opening, though covered like an air conditioner, is noisy when the wind blows, an invitation to bugs to join you downstairs. When we arrived, both entry roadways were under water because of rains, and stayed that way for four or five days. The standing waters ultimately receded during the week, but other flooding on the property caused taking highly circuitous routes to the beach. But, listen, we'd do it again . . . the convenience of the location trumps most of the annoyances and inconveniences.
