Did you ever dream of living on a lake? Saluda Vista is a place where the quiet serenity of nature surrounds you. Come stay with us and experience it for yourself. Lake Hosea is a small lake surrounded by homes where privacy and space are a given and the only call you answer to is the song of the winds.
Completely renovated in 2015, Saluda Vista is a 1975 contemporary cottage style home. All of the orange carpeting and avocado appliances were replaced with beautiful bamboo flooring and a modern kitchen with GE Slate appliances, quartz countertops, and custom cabinetry. The large counter height dining table seats 8 comfortably, while the luxurious sectional sofa allows families to gather together around the fireplace. The maple of the mantle was handpicked at a local sawmill because of its’ beautiful grain, while a local woodcrafter honed it to a natural rustic finish which enhances the knots and wormholes. The 55” flat screen TV mounted over the mantle has access to Dish Network and Netflix.
Two master bedrooms with en suite baths are located on either side of this main level allowing privacy for two couples or family members.
The first of the masters boasts a king size bed, 40” flat screen TV, walk in closet, and private sitting area.
The bath has a double vanity and full size tub with a marble subway surround and a marble basketweave tile floor. The curved shower rod and the glass block window make the tub feel quite spacious.
The second master bedroom is the “room with a view” as the corner windows look out over Lake Hosea. This bedroom also has a king size bed, seating area, and 32” flat screen TV.
The large walk in shower tiled in travertine and accented with glass mosaic tile is the eye-grabbing feature of this bathroom.
In addition to the huge open concept kitchen/dining/living room (approx. 16'x32') and the two master bedrooms with baths, the main level also has a half bath located right inside the door leading to the 12x36 deck which runs the whole width of the back of the house. With a great view of Lake Hosea, this is “the spot” to host family dinners. Two tables provide dining for 8, while the charcoal grill invites the barbecue master to try his/her hand.
Down the stairs is yet a third bedroom with a king size bed, seating, and a 40 inch flat screen television. The bath right across the hallway features a HUGE walk in shower with a bench and a rainfall shower head.
The laundry room, with full size washer and dryer, occupies the last space on the lower level. With a walk out to a seating area under the deck above, this area also has a nice water view.
A 5 person paddleboat is available for guest use from April through October. We also have lifejackets in a variety of sizes. There is a "little red wagon" which can be loaded up with drinks, lunch, etc...and pulled down to the lake for a picnic.

Suzanne & Marty met & fell in love while working at an Eco-resort on the island of St.John in the US Virgin Islands. After much deliberation about where to make our permanent home ( and even more on where we shouldn't) we decided on the mountains of North Carolina. We moved here after our island wedding in 2004 and have never regretted our decision.
Suzanne and Marty Kelly purchased this cottage in 2014
We have another vacation rental property, Mountain Vista Retreat, located in Hendersonville, NC. It has been such a success that we decided we would like to have a second property. Our real estate agent actually sent us this listing by mistake, but the fact that the house was on a lake really grabbed out attention. We drove down to take a look at the property and fell in love with the location and the town of Saluda. We knew we were the right people to take this cottage from the 1970's into the next century. After nearly 6 months of renovation work (from November 2014 to May 2015), we are excited to share Saluda Vista with everyone.
When we first came to look at the property, the quiet was what really grabbed and held our attention. We stood out on the large deck overlooking the lake from above and marveled at the peace we felt. The chirping of birds and the sound of running water held our attention. Ducks came flying from the west and skidded to a landing across the lake. The place just help a magical charm.
We have been staying at vacation rentals for many years and I'll have to say Saluda Vista was one of the top homes we have stayed at. The entire rental process was flawless, from the initial contact to Suzanne and Marty, to the instructions they provided regarding the house. The icing on the cake though, super clean home and organized to the max! I loved the organization so much that it inspired me to get organized in my own home. This home lacks nothing - fully furnished with exceptional items, absolutely everything was in working order and the updates to the place (remodel) are fabulous! The bedrooms were finely furnished with high quality beds and bedding. The home was so comfortable and the bird feeder out the kitchen window was a delight to watch! This home will not disappoint!
We had 3 couples for a siblings and their spouses weekend. This place was perfect. Thank you!
Truly decorated with hospitality in mind. Very welcoming and relaxing.
Our stay at saluda vista was so quiet and relaxing, even with our three young ones. We had plenty of room and all of us slept good on the comfy king mattresses! Our weather was perfect and we had plenty of things to do during our stay we didn't hop in the car once! I would highly recommend this cute little cottage.
House is great, my only recommendation would be to have more lights outside. It was very hard to see out at the hot tub at night. However, the inside was very updated, beds were very comfortable, and overall very pleased! Will come back!
My friends and I used the Saluda vista for a college reunion and we had a wonderful time. It was an incredibly affordable spot with great setup for meal prep, rest, and a lot of fun. Ample space to lounge and nice and toasty in the cool spring air. If we had been around more, we would have enjoyed the water some I'm sure. Instead we were about traipsing around Asheville and having a great time. It was only 30-45 minutes away and we also even got to do some light hiking in the afternoon due to the centrality of the location and abundance of spots to do so in. We hope to return and enjoyed ourselves.
