Overview

About the property

Luxury villa, sleeps 8-9, private pools, 4 large bedrooms, 3 baths, w-fi

Conveniently located in the quiet and increasingly sought after Kaziltas area, just a 15 minute walk from Kalkan old town with its many restaurants and boutique shops, Villa Louise has outstanding views across the vivid blue waters of the bay.

The luxury family villa, built in 2006 and now featuring mature planting throughout the large terraces and gardens, is finished to the highest standards with great attention to detail and, of course, air-conditioning in all rooms.

Villa Louise comfortably accommodates 8 people in 4 large bedrooms - 3 double and 1 twin - served by 3 shower/bathrooms with en-suite serving the master bedroom. The 1st floor bedrooms enjoy sea views and both have large balconies overlooking the pool, terraces, old olive grove and bay beyond.

The modern, fully equipped kitchen adjoins the large open plan living / dining room which opens, through two sets of patio doors, onto beautifully landscaped terraces with their 6.5m x 4m main main pool and additional 2m x 2m x 0.45m children's pool which is suitable for smaller children and non-swimmers or simply cooling down with a glass of wine. The pools, and the generous terraced areas, are subtly lit at night and look out onto the old olive grove which is now designated as green land, and beyond this towards the sea.

The raised terrace feature, with built-in BBQ, sofa, dining for 8 and shaded pergola, is reached by a marble staircase and has uninterrupted views across the bay. With its soft white curtains blowing in the breeze, it's a great place to relax and retreat from the heat of the day as well as to socialise and dine in the evening.

The villa has wi-fi broadband access for those who want to stay in touch during their stay at Villa Louise, and there is also flat screen satellite TV, DVD player with extensive library of films, and a good quality music system with iPod dock and charger.

About Andrew Aylett

We spent a week in Kalkan as a last minute holiday back in September 2006 and ended up buying Villa Louise! We were totally seduced by the food, the weather, the town and the friendliness of the local people in equal measure, and we still spend all our holiday time there. Our objective has been to make Villa Louise match our own high expectations of a holiday villa, ensuring that it is equipped to the very best standards, so that our guests feel absolutely comfortable and have everything they could want for their holiday. A home from home, but with blue skies and even bluer sea!

Andrew Aylett purchased this villa in 2006

Why Andrew Aylett chose Turkey

For us, Kalkan has it all; great weather pretty well throughout the year, interesting cuisine ranging from middle eastern and Ottoman influence through to southern European (we reckon on paying the same price for a full dinner with wine in Kalkan as you would pay at Pizza Express in the UK!). It has incredible historic sites, mountains, of course beaches.

Kalkan itself gives a good balance of all those things. It is renowned for its eating out, the old town is beautifully unspoilt and the surrounding countryside is fascinating.

We looked at many areas when we were buying, but we kept coming back to Kalkan. It is far enough from the airports to keep tourist numbers manageable, but near enough for those who know the secret!

What makes this villa unique

We chose Villa Louise because it gave us the peace and quiet that we were looking for - the access road to the villa is very quiet and we overlook government green land that was part of the old olive grove - but was close enough to the town for us not to need a car to get there, as it takes only 15 minutes or so to walk. However, what really sold it to us was the outside space at Villa Louise. There's so much room, whether you want to lounge around the pool, chill out on the sofas on the patio or read on the upper dining terrace with its views across the pool and the bay.

And after 7 years, the planting has really matured, giving us a mass of semi-tropical greenery and stunning bougainvillea which is lit subtly at night.

The main pool is 6.5m x 4m x 1.6m deep and the adjoining children's pool is 2m x 2m x 0.45 m deep. It's about a 15 minute stroll into the village and a short taxi ride back after dinner, so a car is not necessary. However, if you would like to enjoy the local sites, including trips into the stunning Taurus mountains, car hire can can be arranged on request.

The most beautiful villa in Kalkan

  • 5 of 5

My partner and I went to stay at Villa Louise and it was the best two weeks away we had had in a very long time. The Villa is just beautiful, it has a beautiful upstairs terrance area with a barbeque which we used regularly. The view from our pool was just amazing, we could see the beach which was just a 10 minute walk away through the town. The pool was cleaned daily by a local member of staff who was very lovely and welcoming to us and changed our beach and bathroom towels regularly. The Villa is pure luxury, the kitchen is kitted out with every utensil you can think of so when cooking for yourself or a large family you won't be short of anything. The inside is very modern and comfortable with air conditioning, wardrobes, hangers and even a hair dryer. The town is only a short walk away and the locals were all so friendly. I would definitely recommend this villa.. It is in the most perfect location and really is a paradise! A MUST GO!

A villa that's a cut above the rest

  • 5 of 5

Villa Louise is unlike most holiday rentals - the footprint means it has unusually good outside space, chill-out seating and a stunning upper dining area with built-in BBQ and great views. Whilst Kalkan has a vast array of restaurants at all prices, you're not obliged to eat out, as the kitchen is well equipped, shops are well stocked, and you can barbeque. So if you want to sit in the shade and read a book, or sit by the pool on a sunlounger, you won't be disappointed. Equally, if you need to keep an eye on young children or need space away from teenagers, your needs are catered for! We wouldn't hesitate to recommend the villa, and although there are now just the two of us, can see that it would suit most combinations of families.

So much space

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful holiday at Villa Louise. The booking process was easy and the service from the owners was extremely professional. They arranged transfers for us and we arrived late in the evening, so the welcome pack was really appreciated. The villa is well equipped with everything we could ever need, so it really is like a home from home. The outside space is brilliant - even with 8 people there’s loads of room around the pool, on the sofas by the dining room, and up on the BBQ terrace. We even had a man (Hoca) to look after the pools, put the umbrellas up in the morning and take them down in the evening! The villa looks towards the sea over an area of trees and bushes that was probably an olive grove, so, unlike some of the places we’ve stayed at in Kalkan, you’re not overlooking other people. Loved the quirky pool waterfall too! The photographs on the web site don’t do it justice. We highly recommend Villa Louise.

Fantastic villa in a beautiful location!

  • 5 of 5

The best villa we've stayed in!

Well equipped with a lovely bbq area, and plenty of room. Not quite a ten minute walk into town but a manageable downhill walk - reccomend a taxi back though!

Cleaners and maintenance man were discreet, though would like more clean towels to be left or for them to come more often. The only negative thing to say about our visit.

Would definitely reccomend both the area and villa for a quiet relaxing holiday.

The elderly and those with children might find it difficult with the steep uneven hills and the deep pool but otherwise a fantastic location with beautiful food and very friendly locals.

We will be back!

Owner's Response: It's very rewarding to get another 5 star review, so many thanks to Ciara for that. Just to clarify the position on towels and cleaning, our local team provide clean towels and bedding once at the change over and then twice a week, so guests will receive 4 clean sets of linen and towels in a 14 night stay. If anyone needs more towels, we encourage them to ask our local manager who can arrange this for them. We agree with Ciara that neither the villa or Kalkan is really suitable for anyone with mobility difficulties - it is a 10 minute walk down to the nearest supermarkets, and the old town and harbour are a 15-20 minute walk from the villa.

Villa Louise

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful holiday! We had 10 days at the villa and had just the best time. Plenty of space, beautiful location and the views are stunning. The pool area was attended to twice a day and upon arrival the villa was absolutely spotless. As has been mentioned elsewhere the photos don't do the villa justice. The upper seating area is a great place to eat and with a built in BBQ it gives extra versatility for cooking arrangements. With temperatures hitting 42C the pool was a real joy and long and deep enough to actually swim too. The town is about a 15 minute walk and is a bit of a climb so a car would be recommended. We found the locals really friendly and helpful and Kalkan is a lovely place to spend time in, day or evening.

We would definitely come again and certainly to this villa.

Owner's Response: We're so pleased that Russell and Amanda had such a good time at Villa Louise. The location overlooking the green land, the generous outside space and the upper terrace differentiated the villa from the others we saw when we were looking to buy back in 2006, and it's great that our guests enjoy it. We clearly need to take new photographs for the 2013 season when we go back in September!

Family Holiday

  • 5 of 5

We would like to thank Andrew and Judith for the use of their beautiful villa for our holiday in Kalkan.

It was our first trip to Turkey and definately won't be our last!

Villa Louise provided everything to make a perfect holiday. We were a party of 5 adults and 2 children and found the outside space fantastic. It was always kept clean and tidy for us. The children had hours of fun playing in the swimming pool and we found the small pool especially good for our 5 year old granddaughter.

The villa inside is very spacious and well equiped, the pictures do not do it justice! We are currently planning our return visit next year!

Car: not necessary

Nestling in its bay beneath the Taurus mountains, Kalkan was not a fishing village as many guides claim, but was originally a small port serving the inland villages who's only access to the outside world was via sea.

Often referred to as the best kept secret in Turkey, its pretty cobbled streets lined with old bougainvillea covered buildings, boutique shops, small bars and restaurants, wind down to the towards the picturesque harbour - the heart of the old village.

Kalkan has an attractive pebble beach with beds and umbrellas, as well as sophisticated beach clubs with secluded bathing, water sports and terrace restaurants reached by free water taxis from the harbour. The nearby stunning beaches of Patara and Kaputas are easily accessible.

Kalkan and the surrounding areas have an abundance of ancient historical sites including the world famous Xanthos and Patara which make it ideal for for walking and hiking holidays. All walks are clearly marked and are particularly beautiful and the Spring and Autumn. The gorge at Saklikent and Patara river provides more opportunity for walking, river canoeing, tubing and rafting.

Trips to nearby Greek Meis island and the ancient sunken city of Kekova near Kas as well as Kas itself are also great days out.

The beaches at Patara and Kapatus are both with 20 minutes drive or bus ride and the villages surrounding Kalkan are certainly worth visiting, as are the rugged and beautiful Taurus mountains. Day trips can be arranged locally or in advance via the owners.

Kalkan has excellent Scuba diving for beginners as well as the more experienced, with 2 companies based at the harbour where you can also hire day and night cruises around the bays and islands on traditional gullets.

Kalkan is renowned for the quality and variety of its still reasonably priced roof-top restaurants, all with spectacular views over the bay, where there is something for every taste and budget with quality wines to match!

One final thing to recommend Kalkan for a really relaxing holiday is the friendliness of the local people where nothing is ever too much trouble.
