We rented this property from 9/25-9/29/17. The owner was very cordial, but we did have a few complaints. The owner came over to listen to our complaints. The sliding door does not work properly, the dishwasher was leaking, dirty towels were left, holes in the screens and door were some of the complaints. The owner stated she is aware and that it is the end of the season and they will need to repair some things over the winter. However, I paid in full for off season rates ( off season for weather, not condition of home) and should not have to contend with the need for repairs, they should be completed before our arrival. Also, the upstairs bathroom smelled of urine and the sheets on one of the beds appeared to have already been slept in. The linens were an additional $10 a bed, way overpriced but that was optional. Do not waste your money on that expense.
Additionally, the outdoor adirondack furniture was pretty worn and tired. A table in the back room is very unstable (broken) and fell apart when we leaned on it. The table collapsed and hit the foot of one of our guests. He was ok after about 1/2 hour but it could have broken his foot. I mentioned this to the owner and really did not get a response. While we sign a no liability contract, the furniture should not be just precariously placed so that it did not appear broken. It is a hidden hazard.
But the place did meet most of our needs, just not sure of the cleanliness of place. Owner called me after our departure and stated that we left the place as clean as she had seen. That concerns me as we did a good clean up, but by no means did we scrub bathrooms or kitchen.
The house is tired, needs a good cleaning and repairs completed. But we had great weather and a good time.
The place was perfect for our multi-family vacation with 6 adults and 5 kids. The owners living right next door couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating. The house was clean and in excellent condition. The yard had plenty of room to throw the ball around or play bocce. There were plenty of sand toys etc. so you can save space packing! The kitchen is fully equipped to prepare meals and there is plenty of fridge/freezer space, especially with the extra mini fridge. It really was perfect for a relaxing, "hangin' 'round" type vacation. Can't wait to go back next year!
Sixteen of us (all one extended family) enjoyed a week in July 2017. It included a seven year old, a six year old, and a seven month old providing lots of joy. The lodge provided a large open living room, enough bedrooms, an enclosed porch, a huge deck across the front, and glass doors overlooking the lake. An open kitchen area with lots of pots and pans, dishes, and silverware. Plenty of outside chairs and lots of room for games and campfires for the smores. There were games available indoors and out. The sandy beach area, while not large, gave our youngsters many hours of fun with the provided sand toys. The water was shallow making for easy swimming. We used the canoe and even rented a pontoon boat. Of course, the Enchanted Forest Water Safari was only a short drive to town. It was a wonderful setting, providing some privacy for the week at camp. I doubt we could have found a better location. We highly recommend it. Del Law, Sherburne, NY.
family is everthing
this rental served our purposes perfectly. We ;needed a large dining food prep area that would accommodate all 19 of us. there 10 adults and nine chirldren from 1 to 10 years old. bedrooms sufficed and the open area of kitchen and living area were great. the beach was shallow and all nice sand and the kids played for hours on end will minimal need for "lifeguard" duty as such. We made sure there was at least two adults immediately nearby and fwe never missed TVs, radios, etc. even thought the cottage did have them available. the deck was big and we ate out there the few evenings it was not scorching hot. We did not miss the AC as the cottage always seemed to have a breeze and the water was right there for relief. The dock was satisfactory too. we had a good sized ski boat as well as kayaks we brought for our own use (although there was a canoe already there we did not use it) Town, with all the amenities was only two miles away with the water park available and well run (supposedly the biggest water park in NY state. parking was ample and having the owner next door was reassuring although we never needed anything. negatives were few most likely due to the owners just getting into the rental "thing". the outdoor gas grill was in "well used shape" and should be replaces. the front sliding doors were sometimes not sliding well and need some attention. Kitchen utensils just satisfactory but again we did have 19 mouths to feed! We always clean our rentals ourselves and the owner mailed us our refund without question within four days. We would make a suggestion to the owners that a notebook (like we almost always find in our rentals) filled with advice for hiking, dining, shopping etc. ----such as the little bakery in Inlet which was superb, the train ride which was especially fun with the kids but we all enjoyed it. One of our families was in this area last year and they served as a guide to many of the attractions in the area with options that can only be afforded when someone has lived there for a while. Now, bottom line. For a large group/family this was really nice for us. the price was reasonable for the area as it is very popular around there. I would advise that the little shortcomings mentioned should be addressed and I am sure they will be. i can only hope any prospective renter has a good a time as we did. If you like quiet in the evenings this is a good place. We had at least five evening campfires
OUR FAMILY REUNION
Could not have found a better place to spend a week reminiscing about our families summers spent in the Adirondacks. This was our first experience renting a vacation home. There were 12 of us for most of the week and we had plenty of room, The location was perfect. We were off the beaten path enough to insure quiet peaceful evenings on the patio or around the firepit without hearing any road noise. The walk in beach was great! The owners were right next door and had the sweetest dog you could ever meet. Since we all have pets that we had to board or leave with friends we really enjoyed playing with this sweetheart of a dog! We would love to return again.
We stayed for a week on 1st Lake at this lovely property. We had as many as 16 people throughout the week and the accommodations were more than adequate. The kitchen was large enough for a family spaghetti dinner and breakfasts daily. The large front yard with the sandy beach was enjoyed by the kids and grandkids for swimming, kan-jam and Corn hole tournaments and even kick ball. A fantastic vacation at this spot for our family and we definitely plan to go back!
We are happy you enjoyed your week. Hope to see your family next year.
