We loved our stay. Hosts were excellent to work with. Well stocked home and get had everything we needed. Lots to do close by and the pools and fitness facility were great. Would recommend and go back.

Wonderful cabin stay

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was beautiful and we loved it there. We do wish though that the community center had allowed beverages so we could make use of the poker tables, as well there was no pool cues to play pool. Other than that it was great!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your reply and is greatly appreciated! Sorry we should have advised that beverages and food are allowed in the community centre; only the pool area has food restriction and no glassware. There are supposed to be pool cues at the pool table and must have been unknowingly taken away. We will arrange two personal sets to keep in the cottage in the future.

Something for everyone!

  • 5 of 5

My family had a wonderful time at the Chianti Cottage! We are a married couple with two children, a 20-year-old daughter and a 13-year-old son. The cottage itself was stunning and immaculately maintained. At the same time, it was comfortable and everyone in the family felt right at home. All of the kitchen amenities were present and very handy, and my husband throughly enjoyed cooking on the gourmet barbecue, which was also great for me too :-) .

The clubhouse was beautiful and our whole family enjoyed table shuffle board, foosball, and the kids learned to play some pool from their "maybe not-so-old-fogey" father. The swimming pools were welcome refreshment in the hot afternoons and we ended almost every night with a relaxing soak in one of the hot tubs.

At cultus lake, we enjoyed the beaches, and the family tried their hand at kayaking and paddle boarding, a new family favorite. We enjoyed some shorter local hikes and some even more spectacular hikes that started within a 45 minute drive from the cottage. There are many beautiful hikes in the area and we plan to come back and try the all!

BTW, for Pokemon Go players, there are abundant Pokemon available at the cottage and some triple lure module spots in town.

We would absolutely recommend this area, and this cottage specifically, to friends and hope to head back for more family fun on the future!

Regier Family

  • 5 of 5

David saved us after another cottage cancelled on us a month before our holidays.

He was wonderful to work with and this cottage is absolutely stunning.

The treehouse is amazing and we spent a lit of time in the pool there.

The waterslides and amusement park were a hit and only a 10 minute drive away.

The lake is the perfect temperature and clear.

This cottage has wonderfully comfy beds, a beautiful deck and an amazing bbq that we used daily.

I highly recommend you stay at this cottage as the owners are very clean and the decorating is very tasteful.

The photos do NOT do it justice! You will not be disapointed!

Extremely Dissatisfied

  • 1 of 5

When we first booked this cottage on VRBO the red flags should of come up immediately. Shortly after we had booked the owner David emailed us to fill out a contact with a bunch of forms to be filled out. My husband made 3 to 4 trips to the drug store to fax him the signed documents. Because of David was using his personal fax machine that was not working correctly forced my husband to waste his time running back and forth to resend it.

David constantly emailed us concerning the amount of people showing up and there ages. So if you have children be aware!!!!!!!!! When we arrived he said he would have the cottage available and open but when we arrived in the afternoon. We could not get in and we had to wait for him to open the door. Reason why David is so anal about who his clients are that he left his options open so if we did not suit to his expectations as being good people. That he would of given us our money back. That is the way we felt when we met him. His reason for not having the cottage open was he wanted to bring over a picnic table cover. How ridiculous of a reason is this!! The day before we left we spent hours cleaning the cottage and the day of. David still was not satisfied with our cleaning job. He emailed us when we got home that he was going to keep some of the damage deposit for the missed things we said we forgot to do. Example: The fan hood had a few drops of grease with dust on it, one pot in the dishwasher did get fully cleaned, a couple crumbs on the floor and the sink in the bathroom was not wiped out to his standards. David did not do a walk through when we first arrived and later tried unsuccessfully to blame us for damage that was already there. So if you decide to book with him, make sure you check for damage and write it down and have him sign off on it. Beware you will regret booking with him like we have. Save yourself the headaches and book else were and have a nice vacation. PS: David's ad was misleading stating that the lake was with in walking distance. It is at least a 15-20 minute walk. You will have to drive. Good Luck with this one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The positive reviews must be from him or his family!!!!

Owner's Response: Dear Ward and April: I have received your complaints below and can reply as follows: 1) For the booking, we have a 2 page rental agreement and a 1 page strata form which is required to register all guests and allow access to the pools and amenities. You did not have access to a scanner so I suggested just taking a photo of the signed pages. You could not provide that. We were trying to accommodate getting the signed forms over in a way that worked for you. 2) For the amount of people and ages, we have a minimum rental age of 25 for the property and maximum occupancy of 6. We have had many families with children stay at our cottage. 3) In days prior to your arrival, I reached out to confirm the approximate time of arrival for your check-in date. I also asked for your cell phone # while travelling which you did not provide. You mentioned coming as late as 9 PM but you arrived around 4 PM. I received a call only when you had already arrived at the cottage and I arrived in 30 minutes. Understandably we do not leave our cottage unlocked when no one is there. 4) With a signed rental agreement, there is a contract in place with what is required from both parties. I was welcoming and walked you through the property and explained the features such as how to operate the BBQ and other amenities. I am not sure why you felt that I would refund your money and leave you. 5) For the cleaning issues, my wife and I had to spend 5 hours to clean up the cottage after your stay and we listed the concern items for you to comment on. In your reply you made a character attack to us instead of looking at the issues. We agreed to refund you $400 and keep half of the cleaning fee at $100 and you agreed. If we had received the cottage in a similar condition it was provided, there would have been no issue here. 6) For Cultus Lake, the cottages are clearly shown on any maps and while you can walk, I always recommend to drive to Entrance Bay which is a Provincial Park with free parking and the largest beach area on the lake (5 minute drive). 7) For VRBO reviews, they can only be posted by people who rent the property and yours is also openly available to see. All of the guests we have had this year were people we had not met before and to make such comments below that we post are own reviews is defamatory and untrue. We want both ourselves and our property to be treated with respect. Unfortunately it did not happen in this case.
