From the moment you arrive at this beautiful, custom-built home on the beach, you will begin a special experience. The beach is sugar sand, the sunsets are spectacular and the home has it all. From the beautiful hard wood floors, to the custom cabinets, to the hand-built stone fireplace, to the spacious deck, this home has more upgrades and amenities than most primary residences. Experience life at the lake in total luxury!

Three spacious bedrooms, including a beautiful, private Master Bedroom with its own bath, complete with spa tub and custom travertine shower. The other two bedrooms have a queen bed and two queen beds respectively. A private loft area upstairs provides a great place to quietly relax and has two additional beds tucked in to privately sleep eight in total comfort .

Air conditioning for comfort, a whole house fan for fresh air, even a state-of-the art water filtration system and a brand new washer and dryer makes this home truly unique. The custom kitchen has everything a gourmet chef would need, including microwave/stove , dishwasher, garbage disposal, beautiful countertops, a wide assortment of pots and pans, dishes, cups, wine glasses, coffeemaker and much, much more.

With your own private beach, you can spend quality time relaxing with family and friends all day. Nice, but....

Nice beach area, nice house and great views of the sunset. However, we stayed for a week and got the sense that they were not really too thrilled to be renting out their home. Felt as if we were being watched the whole time. Had a 3 page set of rules to abide by. One of which, instructed that home access was through the most inconvenient door in the home. The 3 ft wide path to said door was obstructed by a large orange cone covering up the well head right in the middle of the walking path and pretty much right in front of the door. Needless to say, that door wasn't used much, so he decided to charge us half the security deposit to clean his $20 rugs from Walmart that lay in front of the door we chose to use. About the charges, tried to contact multiple times and my phone calls were never returned. Was about a 15-20 minute drive to downtown Port Austin and about the same to Caseville but pretty close to Port Cresent state park. Overall, we had a great time. Port Austin is nice but i would definitely find another place to stay next time we decide to get the family together for a week of vacation on the beach.

Owner's Response: Unfortunately, this is a prime example of where Yelp and other posting sites are flawed. There is no question this home is not a normal rental; it is meticulously maintained since we live there part of the year. That's why it is one of the nicest in the area, with many more amenities than one would normally find. All renters are made to feel welcome. The rules are very simple and there are not three pages. This renter violated the Agreement, knowingly bringing more people than was clearly called for in the Rental Agreement. Also, because of the beautiful hard wood floors, people are asked to simply wash their feet when they come in from the beach and enter through a specific door. Even though clearly told, this renter moved the foot-cleaning stuff to an area that caused the carpet to be soiled, so it had to be cleaned. It was they who refused to follow simple directions. Last of all, the home is conveniently located exactly nine miles from both Port Austion and Caseville, not 15-20 minutes as presented. In over three years, there have been absolutely no negative comments from renters. There are several people who have returned because they loved the quality, amenities and beauty of the place and took care of it as though it was their own. Frankly, these renters would not be welcomed back and we made that clear.
