Our Green Valley home is a well-maintained and recently remodeled one, surrounded by desert landscaping and patios on three sides. In contrast to many Green Valley homes, it is free-standing, not attached to another house. There is plenty of outdoor and indoor room for entertaining, and a gas barbeque grill is provided for your use. The house sleeps 4 people (maximum). It offers a huge master bedroom with a king bed, a large TV, an entire wall of closet space, and another wall of floor-to-ceiling windows looking out over the Santa Cruz Valley and Santa Rita Mountains. Guests can walk out of the master bedroom onto one of the home's brick patios. The second bedroom has two twin beds for versatility, and a third bedroom is set up as an office or den. There is a separate dining room, from which you can walk out onto a patio and look out onto the greens of the nearby Desert Hills II golf course. Our kitchen has an additional breakfast nook, which adjoins a beautifully-planted central atrium. The home's living room has a functional, bee-hive fireplace, comfortable seating for 6 people and a flat-screen TV. If you are a rockhound or an artist, you will enjoy the specimen rocks, coral pieces and artworks scattered throughout the home. Washer and dryer are provided in a utillity room near the kitchen, and a two-car garage is attached. This home is located on a cul-de-sac, so you will not be bothered by passing traffic noise. The town of Green Valley is a retirement community, and as such is intended for retired adults. Most of its developments include in their regulations that at least one resident of the home must be 50 years of age or above. However, these regulations also stipulate that a child of 18 years of age or less may visit for up to two weeks a year. Although our home is thus intended primarily for mature adults and retirees, we understand you may want children and/or grandchildren to visit you for short periods of time while you are there. Since we have a dog ourselves, we understand that pets are a part of the family. We happily permit one small (50 lbs or under), housebroken and well-mannered pet to stay with you in our home, with our approval ahead of time. Cats must be declawed, and owners must pick up after the pet in our yard, as well as elsewhere in our development. Our yard is fenced, but a very small dog may be able to go through the bars on our backyard gate. Please be aware that the cost to repair any damage wrought by your pet will be deducted from your refundable damage deposit....moreless

However, the house is on a single floor and the main living area is designed with an "open" floorplan, so it is possible for a person in a wheelchair to enter the front door (without a step) and move about the entryway, living room, dining room and kitchen without difficulty....moreless

- There are three bedrooms in our house, although one of the bedrooms is currently set up as an office or den. The house sleeps a maximum of four people. The master bedroom has a king bed with a firm mattress and a bookcase headboard. One wall of the master bedroom has two large closets with mirrored doors, and there is one chest-of-drawers available. Next to the bedroom area proper is an open sitting room, equipped with a recliner, a television and a desk. The outside wall of this area is composed of floor to ceiling patio doors, through which you can see across the Santa Cruz Valley to the Santa Rita Mountains. Two of these patio doors allow access from the master bedroom onto the outdoor patio beyond. The second bedroom features twin beds, a wall of closets with mirrored doors, a chest-of-drawers, and a large window through which you also can look out across the valley to the mountains. In addition to Green Valley's wonderfully warm winter weather, our town is a great location from which to explore Tucson, southern Arizona, and even a touch of Mexico. Within an hour's drive are the museums, botanical gardens, music, art, festivals, restaurants, hiking and biking of Tucson; the bird watching, mountain climbing, hiking and biking of fabulous Madera Canyon; the quaint little art village of Patagonia (excellent for bird watching also); the art galleries, shops and restaurants of historic Tubac; and the across-the-border experience of Nogales, Mexico. Trust us! You will never lack for exciting activities if you stay with us in Green Valley!

About the owner: Hi! We're Martha Webb and Jerry Clark, and we are the owners of this home in the Desert Hills II development of Green Valley, Arizona, about 30 minutes south of Tucson via I-19. You see us above, pictured with our canine sidekick. In the beginning, Martha was an "Air Force brat," and Jerry grew up on an Iowa farm. Both of us pursued academic careers, Martha as a historian of science and technology and Jerry as an anthropologist specializing in Native American and Asian cultures. We met while teaching at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, and married soon afterwards. When we retired, we started travelling the U.S. in our RV, and we winter each year in Tucson. Martha is an active Rotarian, photographer and jewelry artist (ask her about the incredible Tucson Gem and Mineral Show!); Jerry is a member of a local creative writing group, as well as a lunchtime bicycling group; and both of us are avid birdwatchers.
Why the Owner Chose Desert Hills Estates, Green Valley, AZ, USA:
We have enjoyed this home for many years, as for 30 years it was Martha's mother's winter home. We frequently visited and recall with pleasure leaving Omaha with a winter temperature of 4 degrees below zero and landing in Tucson with a winter temperature of 65 degrees above! For that and many other reasons, we will always have fond memories of our family here together. In 2012 the house became ours when Martha's mother moved to a retirement apartment. Being avid RV'ers and not wanting to settle down just yet, in 2013 we decided to let other folks enjoy the house for a while. For several years, a leasing company handled the property (that's why there are currently no traveller reviews!), but this year we decided to become personally involved. We know Green Valley and southern Arizona very well, and we enjoy sharing our knowledge with our guests.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
My mother and stepfather chose well when they bought this house in the 1980s. As mentioned above, it is free-standing, so when the weather is wonderful (which is almost always in fall, winter and spring), you can walk around outside or sit on one of the patios and bask in the sunshine, without having neighbors too close by. Inside, the house was always very comfortable and spacious, and our recent remodeling has given it a more 21st century feel (with porcelain tile floors, newer appliances, WIFI, etc.). We also like the central atrium, which brings in sunlight, fresh air and the cheerful colors and textures of the plants growing there. In addition, when you rent our home, we always include 2 "Green Valley Recreation" passes, which give you access to a myriad of recreational activities in the area. These passes give you free use of the Desert Hills II recreation center's pools, fitness rooms, and many other Green Valley facilities, although additional fees are required to golf on any of the nearby golf courses, to attend some musical concerts, or to join special interest groups.
