The cottege was nice, yet there were a couple of things...

  • 4 of 5

The cottage was nice, clean for the most part, a few cobwebs in the corners, but to be expected in a place that may not be used too much in winter. The lack of outlets was frustrating. I felt that maybe the wiring was being worked on and we were in for a shock, literally! Instructions for the fireplace and the heat thermostat, would also be appreciated. A snow shovel or salt for sidewalk. Even though the "code" for the shed was given to us, it did not work, so the broom , outside the back door, was used to clear melting ice. It worked okay in our situation, luckily. But, it was a perfect place for our get away and I will look into renting it again.

Enjoyed our stay

  • 4 of 5

Home is older so electric sockets at premium and sliders to porch difgicult to open, close, but overall nicely appointed, comfortable. Rained entire weekend but we found things to do since fishing was not an option. Good rental for the money.

Nice but needs work!

  • 3 of 5

There were positives and negatives! Comphy beds, shower head great, temperature regulating was good and for this most part it was clean.

Negatives were we had to hunt for electrical outlets (few and far between), the vertical blinds were half missing and the sliding doors were next to impossible to open so the porch was almost inaccessible. There were limited coffee cups and bedrooms were very, very small. There was a smoke smell mixed with the sweet smell of room refreshments. Despite this, we had a good time but would not consider another visit.

Needs some loving touches

  • 3 of 5

We knew from the site that this is a cabin, not fancy. That's fine with us. The cabin was very clean.

But: the sliding glass doors to the lovely porch would not open, even though we removed the "thief bars". So we didn't have fresh breezes. The two bedrooms are much smaller than the photo angles depict. Basically only room for the bed and nothing else in the room with the queen bed. (The room with the double has room for a dresser). There is only one source of light in each bedroom (overhead), and the one on the Queen room wasn't functioning so we banged around in the dark. Also, the cabin is not on the lake (there are trees and another house between the cabin and the lake) and it doesn't have a view of the lake -- rather there's a "glimpse" through the trees if you crane your neck. We thought the house would have lakefront or at least have access to the lake, but it has neither.

Finally, if you go during hunting season (which we did but were not aware of...), be forewarned that shotguns start going off -- like a barrage -- starting around 6:00 am. The hunters are on the other side of the lake (so can't accidentally shoot towards you) but the gunshots echo loud and clear. It's an alarm at 6:00 am!
