Why Lynn E. Owen chose Belleville
Drive up the long drive, get out of the car and step back in time. Through the arbor and the courtyard, up the steps and onto the porch—you can see the old wooden porch furniture, looking out at the fountain and the lake beyond. The gingerbread-clad screen door opens, and you have arrived. You see lace and satin curtains, sturdy old wood floors, fretwork overhead, and an inviting living room welcoming you to sit down and stay. Walk in and take a deep breath. The huge kitchen has room enough for a large family to sit and enjoy Sunday dinner. The antique hutch and buffets hold all you need for a holiday affair. The bathroom holds a giant claw-foot tub, enough to bathe 3 kids at once, plus a convenient shower for you. The antique walnut chest spills over with extra deep plush bath sheets. The back hall and old banister lead you down the hall to the bedrooms, where thick carpets welcome your toes, and quilts and lace ask you to lie down on the antique beds on a warm summer evening. Stained glass lamps shine at night and invite you to curl up with a good book or that special someone. Seek out the old armoire in the purple bedroom and see yourself in the original silver-backed antique mirror. Connect with the past. Feel the ghosts that may touch you and sail by on a breeze. Do you hear their voices, see their shadows, or notice the scent of lavender? Perhaps you are even treated to the sight of a piece of sheet music fluttering to the floor from the 100-year-old piano when the air is still. If you play, try some music from inside the piano bench. The spirits especially like the antique arrangements. Nothing is left to chance. Stay as long as you like. Dream your dreams, whatever they may be. Simpler times are not gone for good. They are still here at Whisper Rock Victorian Dreams.

Very beautiful setting
The owner, Lynn, was very accommodating. We checked in rather late and she was willing to stay at the home so she could show us around. The home is beautiful and you can see all the work they have put into the home. I was unaware that we were booking the ground floor and basement only. There are renters that live upstairs. The small lake is very nice to view from the front porch. The home is very comfortable and very close to many things to do in the area.
We always appreciate it when people recognize the fact that we restored the entire first floor of the house back to its original splendor. It took 17 years to accomplish this, and we did most of it as a labor of love. Just a note regarding the size of the property: The portion of the house that we rent as a vacation rental, i.e., the first floor and basement, still adds up to 3600 square feet. That and the one-acre yard and 65-foot-long porch overlooking the lake add up to one great vacation rental. (Plus, we accept dogs.) It is a warm and relaxing place to be. We are glad when people love it as much as we do!

Great relaxing place
Our daughter lives nearby and had been going by this Inn for several years. She recommended we look into it for ourselves and other family members who were coming in from out-of-state for her wedding, so 6 adults and 2 children. It worked out really well for us. It was neat, clean and gave us a homelike atmosphere that we wanted to have with the two little girls (ages 14 months and 6 years). The kitchen and living room were our gathering spots and we'll have happy memories for many years to come. We really liked being in town so we could walk downtown and eat at the downtown bars, yet with the big yard and the lake across the street, it felt nicely private. The girls loved playing in the yard and it was a beautiful weekend. Lynn was very accommodating with a crib for the baby, and the 'extras' that adults enjoy drinking! The only thing that I would mention is that one bedroom with attached bathroom is in the basement. We weren't aware of that and it might be of concern to someone, although we were fine with it. We would stay there again!
Annual Girls Getaway
Me and the gals really enjoyed our stay at the Whisper Rock home - especially hanging out at the large kitchen eating area, cozy living room, upstairs bathroom and the ample seating on the front patio/porch. The weather was nice and afforded us several nice walks around the lake/river. Quiet neighborhood and fun visit to nearby New Glarus. Owners were very accommodating.
Thanks for your kind review! We appreciated your choosing Whisper Rock Victorian Dreams. Lynn Owen, Owner/Host
Perfect for our Sisters Weekend
My mother and sisters had a wonderful time at this home for our annual Sisters weekend. Everything was very clean and well stocked. The towels, sheets and comforters were top of the line and so appreciated! The porch was beautiful and the sunsets gorgeous. We spent a good amount of time on the lake across the street, hiking and kayaking. The home is also very close to towns that offer shopping, antiquing, restaurants, bike trails, wineries and so much more. Thanks so much for sharing your home with us. I will recommend your home without hesitation.
Thank you for choosing Whisper Rock Victorian Dreams. We appreciate your kind review! Thanks, Lynn Owen, Owner/Host
