About Beverley Carlaw

Our Rollo Bay Beauty was first purchased by our parents in 2002 to fulfill their retirement dreams. Mom wanted to live by the ocean, and Dad, as was his custom, gave that to her. We spent many happy vacations together in Canada's beach and golfing paradise. My family and I are pleased to offer our guests the opportunity to build beautiful family memories together in shared enjoyment of this treasured island home.

Beverley Carlaw purchased this house in 2002

Why Beverley Carlaw chose Points East

The home could not be better situated with water views from virtually every window in the house. The backyard leads to the beautiful red sand cliffs of the Northumberland Strait, where my sisters and I have spotted seals on many an occasion. The sunroom's octagonal shape and multitude of windows maximizes the light, the sun and the view and is perfect for enjoying your morning coffee or relaxing in the evening after a day of sun and sand or golf or exploring and enjoying the many activities and local attractions the island has to offer. It is modern, scrupulously clean with all the conveniences today's living requires. The home was built with extra wide hallways and expanses of open space which reflects the openness and airy atmosphere of its surroundings. To put it simply, the home and its surroundings are breathtaking.

What makes this house unique

Being situated in Rollo Bay means that Souris, the main town, is less than 5 minutes away. This means that a grocery store, pharmacy, medical facilities, hardware store, church, restaurants, artisanal crafts are moments away. Basin Head, named Canada's best beach, is a short 20 minute drive along a scenic coastline. Beauty, and tranquility abound in Prince Edward Island. There is no way to get away from it, and I think you'll find that our home is the best get away.

Guestbook comments from the owner

It looks as though we are the first to make an entry this year-and I don't know where to start :) No disappointments! Everything was as described on VRBO website and photos. We love the house, perfect size for two, clean, lovely location, quiet and always something to watch: tide changes, heron, helicopter/coast guard exercises this morning; sunsets, occasional boats. We had everything we needed in kitchen, laundry, etc. Plenty of towels and other necessities. These things count! We spent most of our time exploring this eastern end of PEI and really enjoyed not having to rush, so we could get a real taste of this area. We really enjoyed Basin Head Beach, Greenwich National Park, Confederation Trail, The Inn at St. Peter's Bay, Shoreline Designs in Georgetown, Fiddler's Sons at Poole's Corner. We did walk from the house to the beach (left out the driveway and then down the dirt road after the little cemetery). You can take a long walk on the beach, and we found quite a lot of sea glass. (I found little at Souris Beach, but maybe it was just a bad day). Our only dinner out was at the Blue Fin restaurant in Souris. Casual and good food. We would eat there again. Didn't try other spots. Thank you so much for making your home available to us. We love it and will recommend to everyone.

A SLICE OF PARADISE

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we walk into the cottage and saw the view till we left a week later we felt like we had a slice of paradise here on Rollo Bay. We have rented over a dozen places from the Prague to Key West to other places on PEI from VRBO but Rollo Bay Beauty was in the top three. The Cottage was nice and on one floor, outside deck near the water was great for watching the seals swimming and bobbing around. There was a beach beside us on the right that hubby walked everyday when the tide was down to collect seashells etc. We found the people in Souris to be warm and friendly. Mike at the info center went way beyond for us to find out if the senior center played the type of bridge that we played, they did not but told Mike to send us anyway and they would help us out. They were great, it was a fun evening and perhaps helped too much since my hubby and I got 1st place. Great places to eat in town 21 Breakwater has great food, the type you would find in any 4 star restaurant. The Lobster shack had super good lobster rolls on the road into Souris from the cottage. Went to the lighthouse/gift shop in Souris. Two grocery stores there one is a coop and second another block down the street is Macphee's market (bigger selection here). The owners of the cottage have been good to work with, Allison and the property manager Pat Hayes are so quick to respond I felt that they had their computer or phone in hand 24/7. We are already talking about when to return. If you are looking for a fabulous view, good food and great people to work with look no further Rollo Bay Beauty is it.

Perfect spot!!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved our stay here during our recent trip to PEI. It was our home away from home for the week, and it was just perfect! Very clean, comfortable, spacious, relaxing. And those views!!! Amazing to wake up to the ocean each day in such close proximity.

We did quite a bit of traveling around the island, and Rollo Bay served as a good home base. I high recommend trips to Basin Head Beach and the national park at Greenwich. Stunning scenery, great trails. While the eastern part of the island is definitely more quiet/remote than the more touristy areas of Charlottetown or Cavendish, we liked it best. The coastal scenery and farmlands here are just beautiful.

I would highly recommend this home for a vacation spot. Truly relaxing, with lovely scenery all around. I hope to be back someday soon!

amazing home

  • 5 of 5

This is a fantastic home if you enjoy relaxing watching seals swim by as you are having your morning coffee on the deck which has a gorgeous view of the ocean. The home itself is very comfortable with the two large bedrooms, big kitchen to cook your lobsters and seafood. Nice sunroom with windows all around. The home was absolutely spotless when we arrived.

This is a great spot for a home base, then travel and explore the island or stay home and collect sea glass on the shore line

I would absolutely recommend this home, a special place

Amazing views!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a week at the end of the summer with my mother, our toddler, and two dogs. Everyone loved their time here! The yard is just beautiful and gave our daughter and Springer Spaniel a chance to run to their heart's content. We spotted seals and many beautiful sea birds from the sun room, yard and deck. The drive over to the bigger attractions was long, but didn't bother us as we had a whole week to explore. We would certainly stay here again.

A home away from home

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for our honeymoon August 11th-20th and we couldn't have asked for a better place to spend it. We brought along our goldendoodle who thought she has died and gone to heaven with the water being so close.

The location was ideal for what we wanted as we were able to have privacy, but also talked to the friendly neighbours and went into town for meals. We loved the fully stocked kitchen and used it daily, buying our groceries from the weekend market and the local co-op. The restaurants we tried were very good as well.

The location also was close enough to Charlottetown, but also to Basin Head and many beaches. We spent most of our time outside enjoying the beautiful weather we had as well, it couldn't have been more perfect!

We would highly recommend this property to anyone, as it is a perfect place to spend a vacation of any kind!

Map

White Dunes, gentle whitecaps and miles of unpopulated beaches. Want to find a beach? Follow a red dirt road towards the water and pull up some warm sand. Welcome to Rollo Bay

Rollo Bay is located in the Island’s easternmost region, (eastern Kings-Souris Community) and attracts visitors who appreciate natural beauty and outdoor activities and a lifestyle that emphasizes friendliness and hospitality.

If you like some of the best beaches on the island, you have come to the right place. 15 minutes away is Canada’s number one beach “Basin Head.” Locally there are a variety of beaches including Rollo Bay, right next door, (great for clam digging when the tide is out), Souris beach, a favourite for collecting sea glass, Sheep’s Pond and many many more. A short drive away is the unforgettable dune system at Greenwich National Park which is an area of startling natural beauty, dominated by many miles of majestic sand dunes, dramatic sandstone cliffs, numerous red and white sand beaches; a haven for beach goers. Other popular supervised beaches in the eastern PEI region include Red Point, Basin Head and Panmure Island, to name a few.

Dunes and beaches are not the only attractions. Rollo Bay’s location is part of the Points East Coastal Drive Touring Region which boasts: 13 golf courses; 34 beaches; 6 lighthouses; 34 history and cultural attractions; 24 harbours; more than 100 restaurants; 12 provincial parks; 6 Scenic Heritage Roads; and a national park.

Then there is the convenience of the cottage’s close proximity to the town of Souris (5 minutes away) with its shops, grocery stores, local entertainment, and restaurants.

We have golf covered as well. Some of the island’s (and North America’s) best golf courses are an easy drive. The Links at Crowbush is 26.5 km away. It is a world-class golf experience boasting 9 water holes and 8 holes near the famous dunes on the Gulf of St. Lawrence. Crowbush was awarded a 5-star rating from Golf Digest and is listed among the "Sweet Sixteen" top courses worldwide.

If you enjoy live entertainment then be prepared to be enthralled. Theatre lovers can check out plays, storytelling and musical performances at St. Peter’s Courthouse Theatre in St. Peter’s Bay, which is a short drive away. Farther afield, but well worth the drive, is The Confederation Centre of the Arts which is home to a wide range of shows, including concerts, dance recitals, drama, and comedy. Also look for Anne & Gilbert–the Musical, plays at The Guild in Charlottetown.

A vacation in Rollo Bay offers visitors more than a vacation to Prince Edward Island - it offers a chance to get away from it all while feeling right at home.
