This rustic, cozy, secluded cabin is perched on the side of a mountain just 10 minutes from the historic town of Cripple Creek. Enjoy the large wrap-around deck in sun or shade as half of the porch is covered and half is uncovered. It is not unusual to see deer frolicking through the yard. Free range cows wander the area and free range donkeys roam through the town of Cripple Creek.

The inside of the cabin boasts comfortable new furniture, a 4K UHDTV and sound system for a fantastic movie-watching experience in the evening. The TV in the living room has a Blu-Ray DVD player and the TV in the bedroom has a built in DVD player. You can stream movies to the TV or your personal device with our WiFi service.

You will sleep like a stone on all new memory foam mattresses in both bedrooms. There is a queen bed in one bedroom, and two twins in the other.

We've personally rented properties where the owner clearly does not reinvest. It definitely detracts from the experience to have a blanket with holes that a horse could fit through (yes, really), or only 2 forks and a bent knife to eat with. That'll never be us. Not only are we determined to maintain our cabin experience the way we'd want it, we're committed to constantly improving the property. Here are some of the changes we've made:

For 2020:
- We upgraded our heat in the Living Room (+1000W) and Queen Bedroom (+500W). Get cozy faster.

For 2021:
- Added new pots and pans and new cooking utensils.
- New kitchen faucet with pullout spray.
- New Queen mattress -Thicker!
- New side entrance, full length window in door and new storm door.

For 2022:
- New kitchen sink, double basin, much bigger!
- New Ceiling fan in twin room (more fan upgrades coming)
- New roof and gutters!

For 2023:
- TBD

Exactly what I’d hoped for!!
I wanted to experience a cabin in the mountains with beautiful Mountain View’s to enjoy my morning coffee and maybe catch a stunning sunset and that is exactly what you get here!! The directions to the cabin were spot on, the cabin was clean & tidy and the view spectacular!! It was just the right size for me and my family of four to enjoy for the 5nights we were there. Even my kids, 22 &15 were equally impressed and happy with cabin. It’s an easy hours drive to all of the scenic spots, with Walmart close enough for easy stock up on all of the necessities. The only thing I might suggest is better/more lighting in bigger bedroom (was thankful my boyfriend brought his big flashlight/lantern) and second mirror to utilize one when the bathroom is occupied. Neither of these however are a complaint or truly dampened the experience, just something we noticed. I would, without hesitation, stay here again and would recommend this to anyone looking to enjoy a Colorado getaway. Note: The drive way is as steep as they warn! And if not at all used to elevation, the steps from driveway to doorway will definitely have you winded!! We acclimated just fine but the first night unloading the car had us all winded and pretty short of breath 🙂

Hi, we're Cari and Eric. We're excited to share our little cabin with you. A little about us...

Cari grew up in South Florida and attended UF (Go Gators!) to earn her DVM and currently works as an emergency veterinarian for dogs and cats. Ever since skiing in Steamboat at the age of 15, she knew she wanted to live in Colorado. After an internship in NYC and 12 years in Pennsylvania, she took the opportunity to make it happen.

Eric is a retired software architect and grew up in upstate NY in the Catskill region of the Hudson Valley. He attended RPI for Aeronautical Engineering, but decided to embrace his childhood interests and transferred to Marist College and graduated with a BS in Computer Science. Working in multiple industries took him from Atlantic City, NJ to Philadelphia suburbs.

We met on EHarmony in 2005, and were married in 2015. In 2016, Eric decided to leave the IT industry, and it seemed the perfect time to make a bold move and come to Colorado with our English Pointer, Phoebe, who demanded the cabin be named after her.

Since coming here, we have immersed ourselves in all that Colorado has to offer, including snow sports, hiking, biking, concerts and exploring. We've never looked back.

Why they chose this property

We bought Phoebe's Cabin after staying here just once in October 2017. We loved the cabin and the location so much, we put a bug in the owner's daughter's ear ("If you are ever looking to sell...") in December 2017. Word came back almost immediately that the property was for sale. We wound up buying our cabin in April 2018.
We love the peace and quiet, the nature and the relaxing atmosphere and knew we had to share it with like-minded travelers. As soon as we had the keys, we started making it our own, and adding all the comforts we would want ourselves. The idea was to find the right mix of rustic, relaxing and simple combined with modern, comfortable appointments and features.
We plan to keep making it better year after year!

What makes this property unique

A huge covered deck to get out of the mid-July sun.
The absolute peace and quiet.
The inky black night skies that allow a spectacular view of the moon, stars and Milky Way.
The distant howls of coyotes.
The deer who nap under the deck.
The hummingbirds who visit the deck about every 30 minutes (hoping, perhaps, that the string lights have turned into flowers).
The simple comfort and the easy access to so many nearby activities.
The myriad ways to lose yourself in nature.
The way it's so easy to nod off and nap.
