About Jenn Brown
Sean and I are currently residing in Falls Church, Virginia. We both enjoy the outdoors, running, yoga, and classic rock (Maybe Sean more than me).
Jenn Brown purchased this Cabin in 2014
Why Jenn Brown chose National City
My husband is from the area, in fact his parents live right around the corner. We always said we'd move up here once he retired from the Navy, and when this little gem came on the market we jumped on it. We've still got some time before we are able to call Big Island Lake our home, until then we are happy to share The Little Red Cabin with those who are up for a little adventure, relaxation, and wonder. Enjoy!
What makes this Cabin unique
The Little Red Cabin is not only rustically cute and perfectly located on a beautiful lake, it also has an interesting history. The cabin is almost 100 years old and originally served as the local trading post run by Native Americans during hunting seasons. It was later used as a private, one room hunting cabin. Then in the 1970's was made into a vacation location with an extended porch, bedroom, and indoor plumbing of course. This cabin has been through a lot of changes over the years, but one thing has stayed the same. It's always been painted bright red!

Beautiful setting, very relaxing. Enjoyed the stay immensely!
Amazing setting, the weather was great, a quiet, relaxing atmosphere at the Little Red Cabin. The lake is absolutely beautiful! Nice proximity to nearby attractions. Enjoyed the rustic charm of the cabin, clean and comfortable. Will definitely consider a return visit. Perfect for a quiet getaway!
The cabin is just what we expected, a rustic 100 year old cabin. The cottage is bare bones, a step above tent camping. The cottages are so close to each other that there is little privacy while at the cabin unless you stay inside with the curtains closed. The property is the true gem here. The lake is beautiful and we had it to ourselves when we were there. If you are an outdoor lover there are many great hiking trails in the area. I would say don't go with high expectations and you will enjoy your stay here.
Absolutely loved it, was perfect for our honeymoon getaway. Cant wait to bring the kids back next year!
Little red has so much up north charm. We couldn’t have enjoyed our stay more.
Cabin had everything we needed. Clean and cozy! We really enjoyed fishing and we’re grateful for the available life jacket and row boat.
We had a great time staying in this cute, rustic cabin. The lake is pretty shallow as you go along the dock which was great for our little kids to wade and play in. We brought our canoe which was fun to use on the lake as well -the water is very clear. We also enjoyed going to Lumberman's Monument, East Tawas, and Tawas Point State Park (just 15 minute drive to any of these nearby attractions).
The property and cabin were very nice.
The upper bunk needs some work. The toilet seemed to be leaking around the base, kept wiping it up. The stocked kitchen could be stocked better, lids for pots, cutting board, knives. The cabin had WiFi but only a DVD player for the tv. Hand soap was empty in kitchen and bath. The Row boat has a broken oar. The fouton couch was very uncomfortable for sitting as well as sleeping. I'm only saying all this because it was such a perfect location but could be a lot better with a little work. Thank you very much, we had a great time.
Thank you for your feedback. We're glad you enjoyed your stay. In the future, don't hesitate to contact your host during your stay if something is not right; we would have been happy to take care of some of these things for you.
Lumberman's Monument and Iargo Springs are a must see!
