About the property

2 Bedroom 2 Bath Loft With Private Courtyard Close To The Mississippi River

So…. what in the world is a Camelback? A Camelback is a classic New Orleans-style shotgun house with a second story over the back. We hope you enjoy the space and wonderful light that our home offers plus our private, outdoor courtyard !

This newly restored two-bedroom, two-bath century-old home blends historic character with modern convenience. The upstairs loft includes a king bed and full bath, while downstairs, you will find a queen bedroom, full bath, kitchen and open living room with vaulted, 24-foot ceilings. Dining is informal, either at the unique, circular kitchen counter or in the private outdoor garden patio, with a 2-burner gas grill and colorful adirondack chairs.

Our home offers a well-appointed kitchen, two matching “cruiser” bicycles, central air and heat, washer/dryer, high speed Wifi, new beds, a large and comfortable futon, flat screen TV and fluffy sheets and towels.

We are a 20-minute walk from Frenchmen Street and the French Quarter, or hop in a cab or the No. 5 bus, is nearby. Or borrow our bikes and go on an adventure !

About Ted and Lara Ferreira

Ted and Lara are proudly bi-city… dividing their time between New Orleans and Atlanta. The only difficulties we’ve found are the limited number of weeks in the month and the vexing Saints-Falcons rivalry. Partners in an international design firm, we share a love of unique places and old things. We carefully restored both homes with the desire to create places that are warm, inviting and a little quirky… with comfortable spaces to gather with friends, read or just relax in solitude. We hope you enjoy our home !

Why Ted and Lara Ferreira chose Marigny-Bywater

The location couldn’t be better! Situated in the heart of the Bywater neighborhood, you will be within a few blocks of numerous fantastic eateries and watering holes… Markey’s Bar, the Country Club, Bacchanalia, Elizabeth’s, The Joint (BBQ), Pizza Delicious, and many, many (!) more. Eclectic and vibrant, bikeable and stroll-able, with charming architecture and endless opportunities for exploration, the Bywater is a destination unto itself as well as a convenient home base for visiting the city of New Orleans at large.

Cozy place to stay

  • 5 of 5

A very characterful property in a location close to local restaurants and bars but without being noisy. It has the advantage of outside space to enjoy BBQs and generally relax in the sunshine. Ideal for 2 couples. Ted and Lara were always on hand should you need them and I would definitely recommend this Camel back as a good choice while exploring New Orleans.

Great great great place!

Ted and Lara's place in the Bywater is amazing in every way. The unit is gorgeous on the inside and outside. Decorated beautifully in that funky NOLA way with bright colors and old wood and great comfy furniture and a bit of kitsch. Very clean and stocked with toiletries including shampoo and conditioner, which is not common in vacation rentals.

The unit is equipped with most everything you would need during a stay, including coffee pods and and individual creamers! The location is fantastic--a nice leisurely walk into the FQ or Marigny or a short Uber ride if you are in a hurry. But the neighborhood has a lot going on too! We enjoyed late night cocktails and snacks at Markey's Bar, wandered down to the Bacchanal one night for live music and wine in a gorgeous backyard, had a pizza pie at Pizza Delicious and spent our Saturday morning poolside after Drag Brunch at the Country Club. So much fun!!!

The owners were very responsive and answered our questions quickly. The air conditioning is also fantastic and the patio was fun to just hang out in and listen to the world go by. Will definitely come back to this sweet spot again!

Lara & Ted's place is perhaps the most adorable apartment in the entire universe!! I LOVED staying there!! From the private outdoor patio to the well appointed kitchen & darling bedrooms, the whole place is tastefully and thoughtfully furnished. I did not want to leave when my stay was over and I would love to come back again in the near future! The location was perfect! Right in the Bywater, close to Frenchman Street and a short Uber ride to anywhere in the Quarter! The owners were very helpful anytime I had the slightest problem or question and were always available by phone. Highly recommended!!

House was well equipped for cooking-yes we did grill and enjoyed eating outside the festive patio area. I would recommend it to any of my friends. We will be back. Thank You! Deb

We stayed one night, we spent the day in the French quarter before a 7 day cruise out of New Orleans. The place was immaculate and comfortable. We enjoyed the outdoor patio area after a few more drinks at Markeys bar across the street. The beds were cozy and comfortable. There are so many coffee shops around it was hard to choose where we wanted to go for a morning cup.

Would definitely stay here again, thanks again Ted for allowing us to stay at your home!

Lovely, comfortable, awesome location

  • 5 of 5

Such a nice place. Extremely clean, beautiful floors, VERY soft towels, and comfy beds. Nice little touches like oatmeal, coffee/tea/hot chocolate pods for the Keurig, and soap, shampoo, etc. A nicely sized hang-out spot for 4 of us. We took the bikes down to Bachannal for wine and music (when the rain took a break--it was crazy rainy when we were there), and walked the very short distance to Markey's Bar for a drink. Because it was so rainy, we didn't get to use the patio much, but wish we had been able to--it was spacious and private. Ted was very responsive to our questions/messages and checking in was a breeze. I'd not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone.
