About Jeannie Cocks

Our family purchased the property to save it from a developer and then worked together to restore the two 1914 cabins (used by the famous silent screen actress Nell Shipman when she made movies at Priest Lake). We have four children who all pitched in to build, restore, and furnish these two great cabins on property my family had camped on for over 100 years. The history of the area is interesting and fun to read about in the cabin family albums.

Jeannie Cocks purchased this cabin in 2006

Why Jeannie Cocks chose Coolin

This has to be one of the most beautiful places on earth and our family has stayed in resorts, camped, hiked, berry picked, boated, fished, and played on both the Upper and Lower lakes for generations.

What makes this cabin unique

This cabin was originally built in 1914-15 and was part of Forest Lodge where visitors stayed to enjoy the lake. We restored the cabin as it was back then with a deck that hangs over the water and views from every side. It is special because it is surrounded by National Forest and our private acreage. We often see moose swimming across the water in the evening and enjoy sitting by the camp fire to watch the stars.

Priest Lake is a clean, clear, and absolutely gorgeous lake in the mountains of North Idaho. This location is a peaceful, forest surrounded, relaxing site. The cabin is surrounded by hiking trails, berry picking, fishing, swimming, and boating opportunities. The cabin has a covered deck which actually sits on the calm water. We have a dock, beach, porch and grassy area for games. You may see amazing sunsets, experience peaceful sunbathing or refreshing hikes, or enjoy delicious smores around the campfire. A boat trip or canoe paddle through the Thorofare is one of the most beautiful and peaceful places on earth. You must go slow, leaving no wake, making the trip a life-time experience with the possibility of seeing wildlife including moose, deer, eagles, beaver and more. Although listed as Mosquito Bay, we are not actually in the bay and THERE ARE NO MORE MOSQUITOS THAN ANY WHERE ELSE ON THE LAKE. The Thorofare is one of the places on the lake which is a must to travel through whether it be by boat, kayak, canoe, or paddle board.
