Welcome to "The Shack", formerly Footloose Lodge, our 3-bedroom, 3-bath lodge on Trillium Village Green. Our home is situated at the highest elevation of the lodges on the Village Green with commanding mountain views. You will enjoy gorgeous sunset views over the mountains from the front porch and one of few units with oversized back deck (with fireplace) and dining area. Vist and enjoy 35 Portland Ridge, Unit 141 A's gorgeous views and beautifully decorated 3 bedroom plus two family rooms- upstairs and down, 3 bathroom townhouse in family friendly Trillium, A Private Links and Lake community. WIFi- Internet available throughout.

Our home is at the highest point in Trillium Village with commanding views of Yellow Mountain. There is a large grassy area for outdoor activities and a large outdoor fire pit. Our back deck and family room both boast wood burning fireplaces.

You will have access to Trillium Links, a challenging course designed by PGA Morris Hatalsky, outdoor swimming pool, outdoor and indoor clay courts, fitness center with sauna and full locker rooms, Marina on Lake Glenville with Boat rental. Two award winning dining rooms at "The Landings" at the lake and the Clubhouse.

Enjoy a drink around the fire at either the clubhouse or the Landings at the Lake before dinner, or cozy up to the new outdoor bar area with conversational seating and a commanding Lake or Mountain view.

Our home is beautifully decorated with open living area, updated kitchen with stainless appliances, a master on the main (King Bed) with Master Bath and soaking tub, and a downstairs Queen bedroom with private bath and a beautiful bunk room with four separate bunks and bath. There are antiques and American crafts throughout our home. There is a flat screen HD TV in the main family room upstairs and TVS in the downstairs den and master bedroom. There is a separate dining room with 6 chairs. A wood burning fireplace in the main living area and outside on the back deck. The back deck has a separate dining area with 6 chairs and table as well as gas grill and seating area around fireplace overlooking with mountain views.

There are abundant trails on property, in neartown Panthertown Valley, Whiteside Mountain and Horsepasture River. This area is nationally know as the "Land of Waterfalls" because of the 19 falls scattered throug this rugged mountain terrain. Fly fishing on the Mountain rivers and streams is close to Cashiers and minutes from shopping and restaurants in both Cashiers and Highlands, NC.

The average temperature throughout the year is 10-12 degrees cooler than nearby cities such as Atlanta, Greenville and Memphis!

About Maura McKenna

The view above is from the Clubhouse at Trillium. We are from Atlanta, Georgia and fell in love with this place because of its cool summer temperatures which are 10-15 degrees lower than Atlanta, all year round. This beautiful and remote location provides us a wonderful and restful weekend retreat, year-round. The Trillium resort provides multiple offerings. We love to hike and continue to find new and unusual hiking trails. Our three daughters love this place and the layout of the unit which gives us gathering space and privacy. We love to gather here at Thanksgiving for family reunions. This is only the second year we have rented our unit.

This property is the Villa with the highest elevation and has the most commanding mountain views of all the Lodges on the Green, especially at sunset, from the front porch. Because of its location, the unit is very sunny and light with high ceilings and we have tried to make it cozy with our unique rustic furniture, American folk art and collectibles from around the globe. We enjoy our gatherings around the fireplace on the back porch or watching movies in the family room with the fireplace going. Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter, Trillium is our go to retreat.

The Shack

My daughter, two young grandchildren and I just returned from our wonderful vacation in N.C. We stayed at "The Shack" at Trillium and loved it. The open area right outside the front door was great for the little ones to run and play. The owners were wonderful to work with. The memories we made will last forever! Wish we were still there!

Relaxing Get-Away

I spent four days at "The Shack" for a girls get-away with friends from college and I loved it. We were able to enjoy nature, explore the surrounding towns, and then after our days of adventuring we loved relaxing on the back porch with a fire! The hiking is awesome and very doable - easy hikes with GREAT views! The surrounding area is very charming with Christmas Tree farms and simple town centers (good ice cream and food!).

We ventured up to Asheville, NC one day (about 1 hour away) and enjoyed the art galleries, jewelry stands, funky shops and great food. On the way back to "The Shack" we drove on the Blue Ridge Parkway, which was BEAUTIFUL and definitely worth the extra drive!

Overall, the trip was great and definitely worth a visit if you are looking for a relaxing get-away!

Fishing in the mountains offers the perfect combination of sport and relaxation. Enjoy fly fishing on Norton Creek—stocked and managed by Trillium—or fish on Lake Glenville for small and largemouth bass, walleye, trout and bream! Trillium kids often enjoy learning the art of fishing on our private, stocked pond.

For those who want to venture out, the Tuckasegee River (rated among the top 100 fly fishing rivers in the country) is less than 10 minutes away.

Set out with your own boat or rent one from Trillium's fleet. Choose from fishing boats, deck boats, runabouts or pontoons. Members and guests may also take advantage of the 34 boat slips available for rental at the Trillium marina.

Rent canoes, kayaks, water skis and other water sports’ equipment to prepare your family for a fun-filled day on the lake.

The array of summer camps and programs make multi-generational memories that kids will want to share and create again, and again, and again. Trillium offers three summer camps to its young members: Camp Trillium, Junior Golf Camp and Junior Tennis Camp in addition to planned teen activities.

Guest amenity fee allows access to the course, but as a guest , they must pay a greens fee. The amenity fee also allows access to all other amenities (tennis courts, fitness center, spa, marina on Lake Glenville with boat rental, and clubhouse and marina restaurants. )

No amenity fee in Nov - March.
