Year-round contemporary home on Glen Cove, in East Boothbay, in a very private and quiet setting. The house is bright with an open layout. Master bedroom has queen-size bed plus a queen-size futon, its own bathroom, and deck. Two other bedrooms (one queen size bed and one full-size bed/futon) and one more bathroom.
Watch the bald eagle, osprey, heron, and other shore birds while relaxing on one of two decks overlooking the water, one is off the master bedroom suite. Watch the tide come in and out. Or take the kayak or rowboat out from the dock right on the property. Or swim. Or walk two minutes to the lobster pound and picturesque harbor and watch the lobster men hauling their traps. Or walk the two mile loop, most of it with water views. The property is a five minute walk from the mouth of the ocean, where Little River and the Damariscotta River meet.
Boothbay Harbor is an easy ten minute drive where you will find many restaurants, shops, galleries, and services and the now famous Boothbay Region Botanical Gardens - the largest in New England. Or take a harbor cruise. Or visit Freeport, Camden, or Acadia National Park or Monhegan Island.

We stayed one week at the Samoset Retreat on a small cove in East Boothbay and could not have been happier. We were looking for a quiet getaway and we found it. The location gave us great privacy, our own dock to swim from (although the water was pretty shallow) and kept noisy lobster and motor boats at bay. We ate on the deck overlooking the water for every meal and were kept company by the resident blue heron and mama osprey. We also enjoyed the stars from the dock at night. We were only about 12 minute's drive to downtown Boothbay Harbor so we were able to stroll the shops, eat out and attend evening events without any extended driving. Before we left, we were already talking about coming back another time to enjoy the peace and beauty of the area.
WHAT A GREAT PLACE RIGHT ON THE WATER. CLEAN LOTS OF SLEEPING ARRANGMENTS. HAS ITS OWN DOCK AND SMALL PADDLE BOATS. ITS CLOSE TO DOWN TOWN FOR THE NIGHT LIFE AND SOME GREAT PLACES TO SIGHT SEE. WE BROUGHT OUR MOTOR CYCLES AND THE RIDDING IN THE AREA IS OUT OF THIS WORL SCENIC.WE WILL BE BACK. LOVED IT.
For our first visit to Maine, we were hoping for a memorable location--Samoset Retreat turned out to be that and more. The water access to the secluded cove was just our style since we didn't have to compete in the kayak with the motorized boats in the main harbor area. The house is on a two-mile road loop that we used daily for exercising or exploring many of the tidal areas (the baby haddock, hermit crabs, snails, sea worms, rock crab, and green crab would scurry around our feet). Do not pass on the lobsters from Nelson down at Rine's Wharf! If you enjoy a secluded, quiet, wooded location that is only about ten minutes from the tourist areas, this wonderful cottage is for you.
What a gorgeous place! There is nothing missing here, fantastically stocked kitchen, marvellous views, water access for swimming and boating...........many cozy spots to read outdoors and in; a perfect vacation getaway. So comfortable and cozy. We'll be back next year!
Fantastic location right on the water with its own dock, kayak and rowboat so you can get on the water in minutes. Comfortable, pleasant house. Excellent beaches, quaint Maine towns, scenic drives nearby.
Samoset Retreat truly has been our family retreat spot over the past few summers. We soak up the peace and ever changing colors in the sky and on the water as we bird
watch, read and plan day trips from the deck It is a quiet luxury.
Each year we have explored new places as we have ventured further from this comfortable nest. It is beginning to feel like our second home.
We highly recommend this vacation spot. It is clean, well kept, easy to get to and the owner has become a new friend. Ample parking for two large cars - three can be squeezed in if needed.
The Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay are magnificent.
Many acres of different gardens and walking trails. Also an excellent place for lunch and a gift shop.
The Boothbay Regional Country Club has been under going a gigantic renovation and expansion. It is open to the public.
